Lantern Box with Alpine Flowers

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 10th of the month and time for a new challenge at Let's Squash it!!  Probably the first embossing folder challenge in the universe!!   Challenge #6 and we want you to use a Floral Embossing folder and Make a Box.

We have the wonderful Robyn of Waterlily Cards as our guest designer and an awesome box she has to share with you.  Jo has made a plethora of pillows, and she also did a fabulous Technique Time post with some lovely tricks and tips, so don't forget to check that out as well.   I have made a Lantern Box and used Sizzix Alpine Flowers embossing folder to jazz up the decorative panels.

I used Tonic Studio Lantern Bo dies and cut four sides and two square bases from Jade Bazzill Dots card.  I cut a fancy window in one of the sides and backed it with acetate.

I cut a scrap of pale green card with the rectangle and triangle panel dies, embossed with Sizzix Alpine Flowers folder and smeared the texture with Cracked Pistachio distress ink.  Here's all the pieces glued to the bases.  I used a double base to give me a nice strong box.

Since the die cuts a flap on each side of the side pieces I decided to glue them together on the outside of the box for a bit of a different look.  I used a piece of green ribbon to tie it shut, after I filled it with easter candy.  Nam Nam!  I added a sentiment panel under the die cut window with a sticker Happy Birthday sentiment.  Spring birthdays are a popuar thing in my family!!!

Thanks for dropping by.  Hop over to Let's Squash It! and join the fun.  Hugz

Lovely box Gail, the swirly aperture looks fab with the embossed panels and I love the architectural “ribs” on the outside of the construction!
