Rat Puppeteer

Hello Nomad friends.  My first creation for the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity 31 Days of Halloween celebration.  The team are posting every day this month and so far it's looking spooktacular.  October is also breast cancer month so I've gone pink with my make.   I have upgraded Lost Coast Designs TaDa Mouse to rat status and he's running through the pink ethereal forest brandishing clown hand puppets!!  Coulrophobes beware.........

I stamped a panel of white card with Lost Coast Designs Trees Background using Cactus pink ink and gave it a pink watercolour wash.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs TaDa Mouse on white card, added some promarker colour and fussy cut.  I cut straight through his hands to extend his arms a bit and added the two shrink plastic puppets and a few die cut bats.

I stamped Carmen's Veranda Kukla and Ollie on white shrink plastic to give the cute little handpuppets.  I added some red promarker colours, fussy cut them and shrank them.  Here you can see the size difference between the unshrunk and the shrunken versions.

Submit your entries to the linky party by 23.59 PST on the 31st and don't forget to follow us so you don't miss anything!  The team will be posting more inspiration throughout the month so hop over and join the fun.

Thanks for dropping by.   Hugz

Behind the Blue Door

Hello Nomad friends and welcome to August!!  First of the month so lots of bright and shiny new challenges to play along with.  At the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity we have chosen Children this month.  Link up your stamped anythings with children images or for children.  I went with a door on a door shaped card and a very cute stamp from Carmen's Veranda called Kukla
Coulrophobes look away now!!!!

I was reaching for my rectangle dies when I had a 'I don't want to be square' moment.  I grabbed my Daisy Mae arch dies and cut a piece of packaging to get that lovely kraft panel.  Think it says half a chicken with basil and rosemary, sous vide on the back bwahhhaaaaa.   I cut a white matching stitched nibbled panel, stamped Carmen's Veranda Small Door and coloured with distress markers.  I used a scrap of yellow card, stamped the bottom of the door along the edge and fussy cut it.  I stamped the yellow with Lost Coast Designs Flagstone Background, trimmed the edges to a 'path shape' and inked them black.  Kukla was stamped on a white card and I used a scrap of the kraft behind before fussy cutting so I could pop him up a bit.  I used two sentiments from Lost Coast Designs Party Words set, stamped on scraps and snipped out.

Hope you get time to join us and don't forget to hop over and check out all the awesome makes from the team.  Tomorrow will be the official new team announcement!!   So exciting to have some awesome new designers.  Take care.  Have a great day.  I hope there will be cake!!  Hugz

C is for Clown

Hello.  Welcome.  Coulrophobics beware!!  The letter for the Craft Barn Alpha Dictionary challenge is C so I brought on the clowns.  Here's my giant altered playing card with some happy chappies and their dog.

I used Woodware clown stamps, stamped. embossed and coloured with sharpies.  The background is Becky Higgins patterned paper cut with sizzix round tag die.  This is actually the second background!!  The first one went all custard pies and red noses due to using a black pen that wasn't waterproof!!!  Duh.  So I had to do a bit of a clownectomy before reinstalling them on this fun paper.  I doodled round the tag and added the OED definition.

Bring on The Clowns

Hello again blog friends, followers, happy hoppers.  So glad you could join me.  It's nearly the weekend and the end of the month so working hard to finish up some projects and get them posted.  Over at Altered Pages the challenge this month is Green.  What a great colour.  What a great idea.  Let's go green....

I started off by upcycling some wooden domino's I found in a charity shop.  It's the green thing to do ;-)  These places can be little treasure troves.  You never know what you will find.  I found these....

Hey 99p how can you go wrong?  Actually they are quite cute but I was thinking more the altered art possibilities......   So I sanded a few and painted them white, cos the cows were quite difficult to get rid of.  The rabbits went whoosh, but those cows were a bit persistent.

Then I added the green collage background from Altered Pages Time Collage Backgrounds 1724D

Some patterned tape involving elements of green

Some clocks from the same Altered Pages collage sheet

Some dots of Pebeo Fantasy Prime in Emerald.

A clown from Altered Pages Victorian Clown Collage Sheet 1153D.  I have to admit at this point that this is the second clown I used, and the second domino.  I took pictures of my first one but they were so blurred I decided to make another and try and get some better pictures second time around.

Back to my first choice clown, because he was wearing green.  I wrapped my domino with copper tape.  This is called new wave I think.  It comes with one edge cut to a nice wave pattern so stained glass artists can look really fancy.  I bought this in the US many years ago and it wasn't available in the UK at that time.  Maybe it is now.  You have to love the bling.  I covered it all in glossy accents.

I made a little chain of polished jade chips so he can dangle.  Very pleased.  As mentioned I made a second.  I managed, despite best efforts to get a couple of air bubbles in the glossy accents.  I pop them if I see them but these little blighters stayed hidden til it was too late.  Any tips gratefully received.   Is there another product out there anyone would like to recommend that gives a good glossy cover and is hard wearing.  I thought this would make a good key chain or dangle but don't know if the glossy accents will survive being in a pocket with keys etc.  Maybe I'll give it a test run.  I'm sure if it survives me it will do well anywhere.

Here's my clownish pair.  What a great little gift.  I can see me making a small pile of these.  Must check out Altered Pages for some more fun collage images.
