In The Cat House

Hello.  Welcome.  Yesterday was National Cocoa Day so I decided to make a card and small hot chocolatey gift in one.

I made a card with a pocket for a hot chocolate sachet.  The stamp is from Impression Obsession

I wanted it a bit rustic so I added a panel of card to my card base that I had covered with some hessian.  I glued the panel along each side and the bottom, leaving the top open.

I stamped Impression Obsession G145 using blue ink on kraft card and cut with an oval stitched die.  I added some Wow! white puff powder and a piece of twine which I tied in a bow.  Hmmmm, hot chocolate by post.  Nam nam.

Save the Beez

Hello.  Welcome.  Yesterday was World Bee Day.  I have noticed the decline of our buzzy friends.  I have noticed when the weather turns cold and wet and they vanish, only to reemerged a month later to work hard again.  We need them so badly.  Please take care of the bees.  Don't use pesticides.  They kill the good with the bad and often the good take longer to recover, so you get more bad bugs, then you spray them again!!  Cherish your dandelions for the precious early nectar they supply and the happy colours they bring to the garden.  Be brave, go wild.

I decided to join the PaperArtsy challenge where they want to see assemblage.  I liked the tin can man in the challenge post and also Carol Fox's garden sign made me think about making a tin can to put bits in in my greenhouse.   I sprayed my can with copper laquer.  I used a stencil and some yellow acrylic on burlap fabric.  The metal flowers are from Korthobby.no with a few half pearls.   The bee is from Rubber Dance, stamped and coloured on shrink plastic.  The legs and antennae were a bit of a shrinky dinky nightmare but we got there in the end.  I made the sentiment on ye olde typewriter.

No Said Turtle, It's Ducky's Birthday Today

Hello.  Welcome.  A little happy busness first and then on to today's crafty fun. I offered a little prize on this post.  I have used Mr R. to draw a lucky lady from all the eligible comments.  I had to discard 3 cos they were made by me LOL, and I am pleased that the lady selected did actually say she was interested in trying the chocolate tea, which was part of my modest giveaway.  And the lucky winner was number 20 that's......

Congrats Kay.  Drop me an email with your details to craftynomad at gmail dot com and I will get the card and the chocolate tea in the post.

Looking in the tea box there are still a few bags left so I  consulted again with the mighty Mr Random and he picked
and

Please contact me at craftynomad at gmail dot com and I will pop a few bags in the post for you to try.  If I don't hear from you by the 22nd I will assume you aren't interested and will draw new names.  Thanks for visiting and playing along.  Hugz

To the craft.....   Over at The Craft Barn the weekly challenge for the past week was to cover something in DecoMache style.  Not so many entries for this one.  I have seen deco mache papers once and remember that they are extremely delicate so I decided to use some tissue paper I had with silver butterflies on it.  Unfortunately, sock monster appears to have eaten it, so I resorted to some mop up tissue.

I found some chipboard circles and painted with Rose fresco finish paint.  Then I stuck on my inky painty papers.

I found a piece of inky painty card in the scraps to back my circle frames and stamped Crafty Individuals Jolly Duck on white and also on the above card

I put it all together and made a little hangy thing

The top piece.  I framed the sentiment from Jolly Duck, covered it in glossy accents and added some burlap fibers behind the circle.

Here's Jolly Duck himself.  I used wink of stella purple and green on his hat and bow.  I coloured the duck with distress ink and a water brush and added some gold dots.  Some more burlap threads.

KISS

Hello.  Welcome.  Last night after I had posted this card I was looking at the pictures and got an idea in my head.  I've been trying to ignore it but you know how it is, sometime you have to drag it out and beat it into submission before you can move on.  So here's some quick tags.  Yep sorry, more tags!!  Inspired by me inspired by Wanda.  Thanks Wanda.  Hugz

So I used the same techniques as last night but just left the embossing black and the hessian I used here is slightly finer weave.  But there are two other designs on PaperArtsy PS007 stencil so.......

And

So here's the trio

I think the black/brown/green gives a great natural look.  I added some bobbly wool and a little copper leaf.

Tea Anyone?

Hello.  Welcome.  Nearly the end of the month again!!  Where does the time go.  I've had my Die-Namites dies on my desk for a few days hoping for inspiration to strike so I can join in with their sketch and dare challenge.  Then Mark's Finest Papers wants a teabag holder.  Now as a dedicated tea drinker how could I resist?  Then there's the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which wants Kraft and closes tomorrow, without me having an entry in sight!!   And they all came together like this....

I used a piece of printed kraft for my base and added some black archival around the edge, and an extra few smears.   I cut two Die-Namites Windy Wheat die from kraft card and added some chocolate ink.  The burlap is a piece Kay sent me that I have been hoarding.  Thanks Kay.  Hugz.  The little tea bag pocket was a free gift with an order from Unity Stamp Co.  I stamped the sentiment, masked it, and stamped the image from Crafty Individuals Tea Tree stamp set.  I added some strands from the burlap and a maple leaf brad to the tea pocket.  I have simplified the sketch and thought it needed a little more so I used the sentiment stamp to go around the edge of the card.

Here's a close up of the tea pocket.  I decided to keep with the colour scheme and added a chocolate tea bag to my tea pocket.  This one doesn't have a little string so I added a burlap thread loop.
