Baiting Me Hook at Lava Lake

Hello Nomad friends.  Sometimes I can't be bothered to wait for the paint to dry and I ended up with a very interesting, albeit rather volcanic looking background.  But dragons like it toasty so it seemed the perfect place for this fishing fellow.

I started by brayering red acrylic paint onto some photo paper and when it was nearly dry I sponged on some grey acrylic onto a rays stencil and pressed it into the red paint.  Interesting effect and texture when I peeled the stencil off.    I stamped Whimsy Stamps Fishing Dragon on white card, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  Then I added a Memory Box Happy Birthday chippy.

Little Bobbit

Hello Nomad friends.    Oh my goodness!  There went January with a bit of a whoosh!!!  Now February, month of love and get your red petticoats out girls!!  It's a leap year!!!!!    I'll still probably be caught short when it ends on the 29th and be frantically looking for an extra day or two.  But today it's the second of the month and time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  Make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone wins!!!  I received a beautiful card from Lou in Australia and my card went to Barbara in Switzerland.

I used the options of birds and friendship and the product and technique options of paint and splatters.  I went all shapey with my card base using some new to me dies I got from Kort og Godt. The Rubber Dance Sketchy Bird was embossed on some photo paper I coloured with brusho powders.  Did you see the Rubber Dance new release yesterday??  It includes a new set of adorable Textured Birds, and 10% off until the 4th of February, so grab em while they're new LOL.   The sentiment is also a Rubber Dance stamp from the Just a Note set.  Love the font on these very useful words.

Hop over to the Card Chain Challenge and check out all the awesome cards in the REVEAL

If you would like to join the fun a sign up is nearly always open.  You can still SIGN UP FOR FEBRUARY, and why wouldn't you want to???   It's gonna be a mega-month.......

Scrappy Botanics

Hello Nomad friends.  The summit of scrap mountain is not in sight but browsing gently on the lower slopes yielded this tag.

I sprayed lime green packaging with gold paint and cut my tag using Stamplorations Luggage Tag die.  I cut green and yellow scraps with Poppystamps Orchard Leaves and Hampstead Bloom dies and arranged them in an ascetically pleasing manner.  I added red rhinestones to the flower middles, a piece of hemp twine and a preprinted sentiment.

Scraptastic

Hello Nomad friends.  Today I decided to see if I could work out what this paperclip card trend is all about.  Never heard of it??  I think it's a Scandi thing.  I certainly haven't seen giant paperclips featuring many other places.   They call em cards, but basically it's like a scrappy tag.  I suppose some people are making em as little folded cards, but why stick a paperclip on the top if you aren't gonna hang it from something??  Basically you need a paperclip, big as you like, some scraps and other crafty goodies like stamps, dies, embellishments etc. etc. etc.........   And then this happened........

Not sure I'm hooked, but am rather pleased with this.   And it used scraps, so win win.....   I used a scrap of card I'd brayered with PaperArtsy paints and then sprayed with gold shimmer mist.  I cut Aall and Create Number Crunching die from a scrap of patterned paper, stuck it on the painty scrap and cut it to size.  I had a bit of the painty scrap left over so I cut the two fishtail pennants which I edged with black ink, and used two other pieces and some screw effect brads to attach it to the paperclip.  I stamped Aall and Create Dashing Crow, coloured and fussy cut.  I added two clock metal charms from Korthobby, the clock on the paperclip and then a cute cuckoo clock on the crow's jacket.  Might make a fun bookmark LOL.

Under a Crocodile Sun

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 2nd of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  34 awesome card makers this month.  We send love around the world one card at a time.   You make a card, you send a card, you get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone's a winner.  This month my card went to Suze in New Zealand.

There are always lots of options to choose from each month and this time I used the colours, Charcoal, Lime and Bumblebee (exact matching not required), Wild and Slimline.  The giraffe is a sizzix colorize die and once I got the two largest pieces cut I delved into the scraps.  The sun is a really old fat red sizzix die cut from a scrap of crocodile paper and a bit of yellow.  The grass was a ex-packaging box I sprayed with gold paint and then cut with Mama Elephant Grass die.  The little Hi speech bubble is a stamp and die from Time 4 Tea, all mounted on a textured white slimline base.

Hop over to the blog for the whole REVEAL.

Tags for Him

Hello Nomad friends.  I made a couple of painty, stampy, manly tags.

I brayered yellow and orange acrylic paint onto some card and knocked it back with some sponged white.  I did some white and black paint stamping and added some black and white details using the edge of my acrylic block.  I cut two tags using Stamplorations Luggage Tag dies and then stamped Stamplorations Enjoy the Ride car and Big Robots robot on other sections of the painty masterpiece and then fussy cut them.  I stamped the enjoy the ride sentiment directly on the tag and the I Love Every Bit Of You on a scrap of card, cut it and added to the tag.  Some autumn wool to finish and done!

I Love Eggs

Hello Nomad friends.  I'm feeling the Easter vibes so I made an egg shaped card with paint and vellum and Rubber Dance stamps.

I made the background by brayering red, yellow and ochre acrylic paint onto card.  Then I added some red and black smears using an old credit card.  When the paint was dry I cut an egg shape using a die.  All my stamping is black archival on yellow vellum.  I stamped the Vintage Script on some pieces of yellow vellum I cut with a grass die, to give a nice jagged edge.  I stamped the sentiment on another piece of the yellow vellum and ripped the edges.  I stamped the girl from This is Me on yellow vellum and fussy her face.  I used pritstick to glue the vellum pieces to the 'egg'.  I edged the egg with orange Promarker then used a yellow Promarker to colour some lace and stuck that around the edge.  I found an MDF winged key, a daisy and a spikey flower and added them to the card.

I used the same die to cut a card base, setting the fold of my card about 1cm below the top edge of the die.  I glued my card panel to the base and cut a bit off the bottom backside to stop my egg from rolling all over the place.

This was a really fun card to make.

Abstract Art with Brusho's and Acrylic Paint and a GIVEAWAY

Hello Nomad friends.  I have a little abstract art project using Brusho's and acrylic paint over on the Colourcraft blog today.  Maybe it's the card maker in me that seems to feel it has to have a sentiment or image to be complete, but this one sang to my soul and I'm leaving it just the way it is!!!

I used lots of Brusho colours and black, bronze and pearl acrylic paint, Carmen's Veranda Dice background and Lost Coast Designs Drips background stamps.  I'm sharing a fun tip on how to use Brusho's to colour your paint and also news of a Brusho Giveaway.  Brusho's have been in production for 42 years!!  How awesome is that!!??  Colourcraft have a giveaway, but do hurry, it closes soon.

Happy Catoween - 31 Days of Halloween Day 22

Merry met midnight prowlers.  Isn't it great to dig out the neglected Halloween supplies.  Found this cute halloween cat die from Cheery Lynn.  If you like this one and find it then snap it up cos Cheery Lynn aren't Cheery Lynn anymore.

I made an ATC.  I painted it purple and added some texture paste which I coloured with lime paint through a That Special Touch bamboo stencil.  I cut the cat from black card and used orange neon card for the eyes.  The boo is part of another Cheery Lynn die, cut from the neon card and mounted on a black card scrap.

Hello Nomad friends.  We have sunshine!  And big winds!!  But let's concentrate on the sunshine.  Yeah, sunshine!!  I'm over at the Blank Page Muse blog today with a bright tag featuring the lovely Phoebe Art Doll stamp.

I made an acrylic paint background and added some Grungy Brick and Deep Sea Baked Texture embossing powder texture.  Phoebe is coloured with Brusho's and Promarkers and I gave her an Emerald Creek quarry stone to bear into a bright new spring.  The Sizzix birds were die cut from steel blue card.

Spring Harmony

Hello.  Welcome.  It's a grey and wet day here in Norway, and I was just about to retreat to my crafty space when a challenge popped up in my fb feed.  I'm a member of a Norwegian group called ArJo's Tag and ATC Kos and Jorunn has done a step by step tag and wants to see our take.  There is also a monthly challenge, so I decided to see if I could cover them both.   Here's my tag.

The first thing that grabbed me about this step by step challenge was Jorunn wanted us to use scraps!!  I'm in!!!  I have just cleared most of the pile off my desk and am left with a load of really small bits of this that and the other.  I searched through the pile, bearing in mind that part of the other challenge is at least three pastel colours

The 'L-shape' frame element in the left and bottom was black and white.  I smooched some Worn Lipstick distress on it.  Got a bit of MME and some Crafty Individuals in there too.  I knocked it all back with some white acrylic paint and then stamped the small text from Lost Coast Designs Harmony stamp all around, all around, using Potting Soil Archival.

I used Stamplorations Some Birds stencil and texture paste and added some colour with buff paint.  The coffee pot and cup are wooden pieces that were sent by a crafty friend.  I die cut Cheery Lynn flourish and tiny flowers and added them in the bottom LH corner.  I stamped the Harmony word and definition on a scrap of paper coloured with distress ink.

A bit of fancy wool and done.
Birds flying north again, small flowers in bloom,
first coffee of the year enjoyed in the garden, the small harmonies of spring.

Hello.  Welcome.  Zombie chick you shall go to the ball.

This is Whimsy Stamps Tai and Lisa, all dressed up and ready to party.

For my background I cut a piece of pink marble card and then added some black and red acrylic paint splats.  I cut Taylored Expressions Spider Web die from rainbow metallic card.  I stamped Whimsy Stamps Tai and Lisa and fussy cut.  I coloured Lisa with Promarkers and Tai with distress inks.  I added some cobweb details to Lisa's shoes.  I used Whimsy Fa.Doodles stamps for the heart on her dress and the stitches on her face.  Tai's hat, the spider in Lisa's hand and the bats were cut using Cheery Lynn Witches Brew dies.  The sentiment is from Cheery Lynn's Fun With Frankenstein die set.
