Howdy Friend

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 2nd of the month and time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  Make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone is a winner!!  The participants of the Card Chain Challenge have now exchanged OVER 5000 CARDS!!  How amazing is that??

This month there were 26 participants and my card winged it's way to Brenda in the UK.  Brenda is a longtime online friend, and I know she loves dogs, so I used this cute Pokey Dog stamp by Lost Coast Designs.  Pets was one of the options for July.

I used a Marianne Design die for the stitch detail round the aperture and the panel is a piece of filter paper splashed with Brusho powder and water.  I stamped Pokey Dog on the card to get the extra details I didn't want to cut out.  Then I stamped him on some slightly brown card, added some distress marker colour and fussy cut.  The gold letters are stickers.

If you would like to see all the amazing card that winged their way around the planet for March check out the REVEAL POST

Flying Egyptian

Hello Nomad friends!  Middle of the month already and time for a reminder about the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity WINGED THINGS challenge.   They are already some beautiful entries in the linky and the team is making so much lovely inspiration.  We need 20 entries to award the prize so do please consider supporting us.  I've made a journal page with the most beautiful Flying Egyptian on a brusho background.

Loving this quite a lot.  I stamped  Lost Coast Designs Flying Egyptian and Carmen's Veranda Dream on a 20cm x 20cm page.  Then I went a bit spritzy with sea green and turquoise brushos.  I stamped the  Flying Egyptian again on white card, watercoloured with some of the brusho run off and fussy cut.  I added the egyptian and the Find Your Happy Place sentiment, stamped on white card and chopped up, to the page and distressed and added a little black ink to the edges.

You have all month to share your stamped anythings featuring things with wings. Please read the updated rules before entering. Real rubber or clear stamping and theme must be the focus of your project for a chance to win Lost Coast $$$$$'s. 1st - 31st January.

Fantastic Flower

Hello Nomad friends.  The second of the month and time for the December Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  We simplified the options for the busiest time of the year so it was used a NBUS, three favourite colours and an animal OR a flower OR a fruit.  Here's the card I sent to Alice in Finland.

My NBUS is this fantastic flower die from Spellbinders, my colours were blue, black and white and it's a flower.  I've got a Gummiapan postage die cut black layer on my black card base and I used white glitter card for the stars and leaves.   The stars were cut from the same glitter card using a sizzix die and the second layer of the flower was coloured with brushos.

If you would like to see all the cards that were sent this month hop over and check out the REVEAL

Hello Nomad friends.  Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  It's been sunny and springy, although we are still getting cold nights.  I've made another watery scene using brusho's to make the background.

I sprinkled turquoise and blue brusho's and spritzed with water.  I've used Poppystamps Twisted Tree Oval and Happy Whittle Hippo.  Isn't that hippo adorbs!!!

Humming Around

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy weekend!!  Using some scraps here for a colourful birthday.  I'm using an old but NBUS set from sizzix and lots of scraps.  I actually bought this set not that long ago in a sale because it's full of fun frames and embellishments, like what it says on the packaging.  I actually wanted to use the coloured corrugated bit for the large scallop, but it was too small.  So I found a bit of textured handmade paper, which was also a tiny bit small, but you just shove the flower over to cover the mm missing.

The hummingbird was cut from a scrap of photo paper that has been coloured with brusho powders. A couple of die cut flowers with a fancy brad and another scrap, cut with another frame from the NBUS die set and stamped with a Rubber Dance sentiment from What a Girl Wants set.  Should use that one more often since we all deserve a magical birthday.  The nibbled arch dies are from Daisy Mae.

September Card Chain Challenge Reveal

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  Did I hear you ask what that is??!!!!   Where have you bean??????   The Card Chain Challenge, make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card.  Everyone's a winner!!!  And what awesome cards they are too.  Spectacular art from amazing cardmakers winging their way around the planet.  My card this month went to Renate in the Netherlands.

I followed the sketch this month and used Hero Arts product Where To Next stamps, Bird Word stamps and dies, Autumn Moon stamps and Bear Family dies for the trees.  The bears are behind the trees LOL.  I used Brusho powders for the blue sky which I cut with a stitched die and had a design moment with the wordy birds.  These are designed as christmas birds but I think peace, love and joy should be available all year round.  The Where To Stamps are a fairly new set and I just had to have them cos they have 4 cute little scenes.  I used the desert mesa one. The embossed piece was a scrap I found on the desk.  I used scraps for the birds, the small die cut green panels and the trees.

If you would like to join the fun the SIGN UP is open still for October

Hop over to the REVEAL to check out all the awesome cards that were exchanged.

Double Promise

Hello Nomad friends.  I have made a wedding card using brusho's and Paper Discovery dies.

I thought it would be fun to have the engagement and the wedding on the same card so after I made my brusho background I used the eclipse technique for the engagement couple.  Then I cut the bridal couple from black card and the sentiment from silver mirror card.

Explosion of Colour

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  If you don't know, this is an international card exchange that runs ever month, come rain, storm, fire or pandemic.  Yep, we don't even let a pandemic stop us sending love around the world one card at a time.  In fact, since the first cards were sent over 3530 cards have been exchanged!!!!  This month my card went to Gundi in Germany.

I wanted to use the option colours red, green and yellow, and scraps, so I paper pieced my Prima doll and made a brusho background.  It felt a bit empty on the left so I hunted for a border or die cut that would suit and stumbled on loads of goldline stickers.  Pretty gold flower borders and then I had a moment and added loads of red holographic dots to the flower centres.  Actually quite a therapeutic exercise, except when they pinged off and vanished!  Poof!!!  I expect the cat will find them and go around looking very pretty.  Then a little sticker butterfly to finish.

If you would like to join the fun you can SIGN UP for the February exchange.

Do hop over and check out the JANUARY REVEAL cos it's amazing!

Ugly Sweater Weather

Hello Nomad friends.  It's very wet and windy here today with hurricane force gusts predicted.  And the end of the month is looming so I think I will stay in, cosy in my craft room, and try and finish some of the very very many UFO's on my desk.  Starting with a rainbow card for Jo's Christmas Kickstart challenge.  Well, a rainbow of colour, even if no actual rainbows........

I made a red/green/yellow brusho background the other day and some of it was still lurking so I cut a piece with Stamplorations Double Stitch Rectangle die, edged with red Promarker and mounted on a red edged white base.  I die cut my Sizzix Colorize Deer from scraps, including some stripey colourful ex-packaging.  I used the same packaging and a Marianne Designs die for the 'parcel'.  I was expecting the Let It Snow to cut, but it's an emboss feature, so I used it as a stencil and with a Promarker black pen accentuated the lettering.  A bit of folded organza ribbon and done!

I also had this cute Papirdesigns Nisse die cut from blue and white scraps

I had some Papirdesigns Hytta På Fjellet double sided paper which has this lovely blue woodgrain pattern on one side, so I decided to make a door!  I used a Korthobby.no Home Sweet Home charm and a brad for the door handle.  Love that little dangly key!!!  Then I needed a background.  Mushrooms!  Perfect.  Papirdesigns Sopptur paper, cut with a stitch die and a little frost added to the 'shrooms with glitter glue.  A bit of white cut with a stitch edge for some snowy ground and a little more glitter glue sparkle to finish.

Sailing a Damask Sea

Hello Nomad friends.  I'm here today with a little reminder for Let's Squash It! Under The Sea Challenge.  When I thought this one up I really didn't imagine it would be anything but fun, but it seems I was wrong.  We do have some very very lovely entries so far, but we want to see more.  We miss you and your squashy awesomeness!!  Is it a mojo thing??  I know Mr Mojo was sluggish after the xmas excesses, and these bleak winter days don't really help, but maybe my yellow submarine will put a smile on your face and a spark of inspiration in your crafty heart.

For my sea I sprinkled blue brushos on white card and spritzed with water.  I let it dry and ran it through the bigshot with Sizzix Damask embossing folder.  Then I die cut the some Stamplorations letters and Sizzix Wacky Transport Submarine.  I used ginger Promarker to add some shadows to my submarine and gold mirror card to back the windows, periscope and for the propeller.

I hope you get some time to grab your embossing folders and your fish, mermaids, octopi, submarines or sunken vessels etc. etc. etc. and join us.  You have until the end of the month.  Carpe Diem!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Happy New Year Nomad friends.  I hope you have had an wonderful festive season and New Year celebration.  Here's hoping for an awesome 2022.

I am kicking of my 2022 blogging with a card for the start of the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge Let's Fly!  Shared your stamped anythings featuring things that fly.  I chose Lost Coast Designs Gryphon and perched him on an own made column.

I made a simple background by sprinkling various blue Brusho powders on a sheet of white card and spritzing with water and Windsor and Newton Iridescent Watercolour Medium, which gives a beautiful fine bling similar to Wink of Stellar pens.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Gryphon on some very pale lilac card and fussy cut.  I added gold tinsel gel pen to his claws and beak and a bit of red and green gel pen colour to his eye and tongue.  I stamped the 2022 using Lost Coast Designs License Plate Alphabet stamp set on the same pale lilac card.  Then I fussy cut it into a plinth shape, added some score lines and smeared it with grey archival ink.  Not too bad me thinks........  Then I just glued the column and Gryphon in place and mounted the panel on a navy blue slimline card base.

Link up your stamped anythings featuring things that fly to the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  See you there!!

Vikings, Dragons and Linedancers

Hello Nomad friends.  I decided to enter the other two My Favourite Things 2021 Card Design Superstar challenge.  I started by making some Brusho backgrounds.  I saw a video by Sandy where she used salt to get some fun effects.  I made quite a few backgrounds, including some with salt, and then picked a few I liked.  The first one crashed and burned during my interactive experiments.  Well, it's not burnt, it just has a slider channel cut in it but I couldn't for the life of me make my viking roll!!!!   So...

I liked this background lots and thought it was perfect for my Viking, coloured with distress markers.  I decided to give him a dog companion, from New Best Friend set, and then decided he also needed a dragon!!  Don't we all????  This super little cutie is from the Magical Dragon set.  I was going to use a sentiment from MFT Lovable Leopard set about friends and adventures, but decided to leave it off.  Gonna enter this bright masterpiece to the Coloring Virtuoso challenge.

Then we had the moment with the slider that didn't go a planned.  So I decided to put on my big girl panties and try out the Twist and Turn Interactive Die-namic.  I loved this die when it was released, and then I've never used it!!!   Now is a good time me thinks.......  First step, consult the fab video by Laura that is at the bottom of the die page.  Next, give it a go........

Since there are two rotation points available I decided to use this happy pair of line dancers from the Saddle Up and Celebrate set.  I also used another of the Brusho backgrounds.  Oh, tip from me......  stamp your sentiment before assembling the card!!   I stamped the cowfolk, coloured and fussy cut them.  Then I put it all together.  Here we go....  poor man video

Yee Haw!!!

If you click on the picture they will get bigger and you can click through them.

If you click through them fast enough you should get some idea of the fun effect this die gives.  Did I sit there pulling and pushing that little tab for a minute or two??  Yes ma'am, I sure did!!!!

Hope Springs Eternal

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 10th of the month and time for a new, fun and sightly soggy challenge over at Let's Squash It!  This month we want you to use a nature themed embossing folder and water colouring.

The folder can be anything as long as it includes something from nature, so birds, butterflies, trees, flowers, fish, shells etc etc etc......   And we want you to use water with your colouring medium.  So make sure you spritz, spray, slash and splosh your colours around.

I used Geminin 3D Butterfly Effect and went grey and grungy

I started by drawing in some of the texture of the embossing folder with my Tripaint colour sticks.  Bought these years ago at a cheap shop in Weston Super Mare.  Then I spritzed with water and embossed some pale grey card.

Quite pleased with that.  Touched up some of the areas by picking colour off the Tripaint sticks with my waterbrush.

I super diluted a tiny tiny amount of black Brusho powder in water and applied it as a wash to the rest of the card.

I used a Sizzix Movers and Shakers Hope die to cut the sentiment.  I distressed the card edges and bled in some grey Promarker and mounted on a dark grey card base.  Butterflies always lift the spirit as the first harbingers of Spring and I always see them as a sign of hope.

Grab your folders and watercolours and get sploshy and squishy with us this month.  See you there.  Hugz

At the End Of a Sunny Day

Hello Nomad friends.  It was a beautiful sunny day here in southern Norway today.  I was very torn between being out in the garden, or finishing off some projects for the Hobbygarasjen digi scrap.  I always work well to a deadline LOL so I decided to see what I could throw together.  Actually quite a lot it turned out LOL.  Where do I beginnnnnnnnnnn.  Are you singing????

Challenge 5 - Make Your Own Background

I stamped the heart from Rubber Dance Arty Hearty with Memento London Fog.  I used masks to stamp a few hearts and watercoloured with Worn Lipstick distress ink.  I cut with Stamplorations Double Crazy Stitch Rectangle and mounted on a red card base.  The Lost Coast Designs Gnome was lurking and he perfectly matched the bubble sticker so I added them both and called it a card.

Challenge 8 - Use Pigment Powders

Well I am a big fan of Brusho's so this was right up my alley

I used red and blue Brusho's and spritzing.  I stamped Stamplorations Hb2U sentiment and used a little white gel pen inside the letters to make them whitish again.  I stamped Blue Knight Steampunk Girl, coloured her with Promarkers and fussy cut.  A blue card base, die cut the panel with a stitch die and put it all together.  Placing the girl so she overlaps the card edge really adds dimension to the whole kit and caboodle.

Challenge 9 - At Least 3 Folds

I really liked the tri-fold card I made the other day so I decided to make another one using some Tilda paper cuts.

Here's the front.  I used Jade Bazzill Dots card 14 x 30cm for my base.  Love that it will fold and fit in a normal envelope but there is loads of space to decorate!   The picture is a Tilda papercut. I added some lace and a preprinted birthday banner.

Ta dah!!!!  Second panel: more lace, Tilda paper cuts and preprinted sentiment panel.

On the third panel I used a Sizzix die to pocket.  I folded it and hid it behind a Jade Bazzill Dots frame cut using Sizzix Postage Rectangles and a piece of card I stamped with Rubber Dance circles.  More lace and Tilda papercuts.  Inside the pocket I added a tag.  Vipps is a mobile app that allows instant money transfer.  Even better than a gift card.  It says 'Check Vipps'!!!  Pling!!

Everyone Needs Angels

Hello Nomad friends.  I probably should be doing other things, but find myself easily distracted.  Making tags has proved a good way of using up scrap, precut circles and panels, and also an impetus to search those forgotten drawers and boxes and use up bits and bobs that have been lying too long.  Here's a simple tag, inspired by Lindsey, using some scraps of green and brown.

It's my first time using enamel accents, Cherry dots on the brown Impression Obsession Berry Border die cut, and I quite like it.  Three circles of various green scraps layered together.  The top one was some thick tissue paper coloured with Brusho's.  I stamped the Papirdesign sentiment on it, added the die cut enamel dotted branch and a red organza bow and embroidery thread tie.  I also added a little metal angel charm from Korthobby.no, cos everyone needs an angel.
