A Flying Monkey Kinda Day

Hello Nomad friends.  I hope you have had a wonderful day.  Mine got a bit hectic and I am thinking maybe my choice of stamps reflect it.  Who let out the flying monkeys??!!  Hold on and hope for flowers.

I know, no one in their right mind would combine these stamps, so we will put it down to left brain creativity.  I've used Carmen's Veranda Flying Monkey Background,  Lost Coast Designs Domino Border, Lost Coast Designs ATC Doodle Flowers, Carmen's Veranda Baby Elephant and Thinking of You from Lost Coast Designs Party Words. Everything was stamped with grey and black ink and I cut the panel with Daisy Mae stitched distressed arch die.  Hang in there Baby!!

Thanks for dropping by.  You have until the end of the month to link up your stamped anythings featuring animals to the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity for your chance to win some Lost Coast Dollars.  Hugz

Lazy Summer Days

Hello Nomad friends.  I am over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today with some final inspiration for the Summertime challenge.  You have until 23.59 PST tonight to join the fun.  I've gone with a simple card in warm summer colours with this cute Carmen's Veranda Small Baby Elephant and sentiment for that lazy summer feeling.

Isn't he just adorbs!!!!   I have him hanging over a Lost Coast Designs Grunge Border 2" 'wall'.  I stamped the elephant, masked him, stamped the grunge border, and then did a quick watercolour wash for the sky.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Huge To Do List sentiment, split it in two and edged the fussy cut pieces with blue pen.

You still have time to stamp something summery and join the fun at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  The team posts awesome inspiration throughout the month so hop over, leave a little love and I look forward to seeing your makes.

Lest We Forget

Hello Nomad friends.  Today it was too sunny to be indoors so I grabbed some stamps, card and ink and set myself in a shaded corner and made this

I selected some of my brightest distress inks and various Rubber Dance stamp sets.  I used Mixed Media Marks and the rainbow from Pencil Marks 3 for the background, just randomly stamping with various colours until I thought it looked pretty.  The border is from the Mixed Media Borders set.  I knew I wanted to use the elephant from African Animals, but added a little extra texture to him with one of the Mixed Media Marks set.  Elephants are so majestic and I always think they look like they are doing some serious thinking.  Except baby elephants!   They seem to enjoy being mischievous.  The sentiment is also a Rubber Dance stamp from the Just a Note set.

Going Wild Cubed

Hello Nomad friends. A few more ATC's I made.  Well, since I was in the mood, and I'd spotted these lovely Penny Black On Safari die cuts that one of my Card Chain Challenge friends sent me.  See, sometimes you don't only get a fab card!  Sometimes your Card Chain Challenge friend sends some little goodies.  It's not a requirement of the challenge, but it is nice isn't it!  Die cuts are popular cos they are flat and don't weigh much.  Since I had three different animals, in three different colours, I made three ATC's!   Cubed cubed LOL.

I used a yellow card base and the idea was to do three different colour treelines.  Luckily Mr Mojo was on point and remembered colour rules!!!  It turns out yellow plus lots of ink colours makes brown!!!!   I was OK with the Dandelion archival, but had to abandon all the pinks and reds and even the pale green.  It's always worth checking the colour on a scrap, or backside, when using colour bases.  So Sepia and Library Green to the rescue.   I used Crafty Individuals 561 medium tree off-block to make the tree background and also stamped the tickets from the same set.

Elephantastic

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 2nd of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  You know the drill...... make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone wins!!!  For the February exchange I made a card for my very special friend Jo in the UK.  I have had this idea in mind ever since I got this sizzix elephant colorize die set, and since 'shaped card' was one of the options I made Jo an elephant card!

Ta dah!!!!    These dies are big, so I decided to make a free-standing elephant.  I had to put a tiny lift under his front foot to make him stand straight but OMG I think he's adorbs, and I think Jo liked him too.

Hop over to the reveal to check out all the awesome cards that winged their way around the planet in February.
You can sign up for March if you hurry!

Elephant Travels (Updated)

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  Make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone wins!!!!!  I'm still waiting to hear if this has made it's way to Peggy in Maine.  I was a bit slow, sorry Peggy, but you can't rush an elephant you know.....

There are actually a couple of surprises with this card, but I want to leave a bit for Peggy to enjoy first hand, so I will add to this post when I know she has received it.  I've used my favourite Quarto fold and super cute Carmen's Veranda Baby Elephant.  Isn't it adorbs!!!!   The sentiment is from Lost Coast Designs Travel Quotes and tropical leaves are Sizzix die cuts from various green scraps.  I used the options of friendship and stamping this month.

Elephant Greetings

Hello Nomad friends.  I have a quick and simple card using Carmen's Veranda's adorable small Baby Elephant over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today for the Critters Challenge

No colouring, except for the bow and edging, as I used my patterned card to good effect.  I stamped the Baby Elephant on a piece of slightly grungy patterned card with black archival ink.  Then I cut around her feet and trunk, edged with a black marker and glued a piece of brick patterned card below as a wall for her to peek over.  We know it's a her cos I borrowed a bow from Carmen's Veranda's Reindeer Doll, stamped, coloured pink and red and fussy cut.  Perfect size for this little elephant.   I edged the panel and the card base in pink and stamped the sentiment from Lost Coast Designs Party Words set.  Have you seen the party words set???  So many of the sentiment would go great on this card; Happy Birthday, Congratulations, Thinking of you, Happy Everything, It's a Party, You're invited, Don't Worry, Be Happy etc etc.

Join the Critters challenge for a chance to win and don't forget to check out all the awesome inspiration from the team on the blog, and all the fun in the fb Fangroup.  Would love to see a few more of my bloggy friends in the Lost Coast Designs linky.  Any critter, but do remember we are a real rubber/clear stamp challenge.

Size of an Elephant

Hello Nomad friends.  I made this fun elephant card using Sizzix Fold-A-Long Elephant die.

I've used mottled grey designer card over a dark grey base.

You cut this die on the fold of a 14x15cm card base.  I used the dark grey card.  Then I cut again from the mottled grey and started layering my elephants.  The directions only have one elphant head but I wanted two, cos the headless one didn't float my boat when the card was opened.  It does mean it doesn't lie quite so flat, but worth it me thinks.  I used a Stamploration Oh Frap! and some number dies on the main panel.  Then I stamped the happy birthday from Rubber Dance and made another little pop out feature.  Cool, or what!!!

Using Up the Leftovers

Hello.  Welcome.  So I was dressing up a die cut the other day with distress inks and used a scrap of paper to protect my desk.  At the end of the process the scrap was way too pretty to throw away so I made this card.

The background is my scrap, inked with Mustard Seed and Ripe Persimmon distress inks through Winnie and Walters Peppermint Zone Cutaway die cut.  I mounted it on a gold base card and used Stamplorations Snowy Stitched Hills dies to cut the same card and layered them at the bottom.  I stamped the elephant and monkey from W&W Big Hugs on grey card and added a little colour.  I cut a circle of yellow card using the pierced circle die from W&W Carly die set and edged it with Ripe Persimmon ink.  The 'for you' dies are also from the Carly set, and I decided to dress them up with orange flock stuff, which is why they look a bit furry.  Probably best not to say anything else about that........

Loons and Elephants

Hello.  Welcome.  Oh, the joys of midnight crafting Bwahahahaahahaa.  I have been following along with the Winnie and Walter Birthday Bash challenges and there are only two I haven't managed yet.  With the deadline looming I decided to have a go and see if I could rustle up a couple more ideas.   Idea 1 - Alter a stamped image with masking.  What a lark.  I may have made this much more difficult than needed.......

But worth the effort....

Take your stamp, in this case the elephant and monkey from Winnie and Walters Big Hugs set, and mask off the bit you don't want to stamp, before you ink the stamp.

Stamp you image.  Voila, elephant without an ear.

Mask the stamped image, not covering the missing ear of course.  Of course!!  Stamp the dog and cat and the sentiments from the Big Hugs set.  Colour with your medium of choice, in this case Promarkers, cut with Stamplorations double stitch rectangle die and mount on a dark grey card base,

Blue and Peppermint

Hello.  Welcome.  OK, I promise this is the last thing I'm sharing in this colour scheme.  If only cos I have run out of the mint and steel blue card!!  I must admit I really really like these colours together. They may have to become my top favourite!!  So one last trio of cards in the blue, navy and mint.

I used Simon Says Stamp Diamond Parade die for the pieced background and the animals from Winnie and Walter Big Hugs stamp set.  Sentiment says have a fantastic day.

The sentiments are from the same Kort og Godt patterned paper sheet I used for the card bases, all edged with dark blue ink.  Sentiment says congratulations.

Getting short of the Making Memories mint paper so this one went heavy on the steel blue metallic card.  The animals were all stamped on pale grey wood grain paper and fussy cut.

Peppermint and Blue

Hello.  Welcome.  Back with the same colour scheme as yesterday and a few more cards featuring Winnie and Walter's Big Hugs stamp set.

All the card bases are Kort og Godt patterned card and also the grey woodgrain paper I stamped the animals on.  Here I cut a panel of the stripey mint Making Memories paper then used Winnie and Walters Carly Cutaway dies to cut the pierced circle.  I stamped the cute bears then added the sentiment (says Congratulations).

These are the card bases I made from 12 x 12 sheet.  I love that on the back of the makers label they have printed three sentiments.  These I have used on my three cards.  Isn't that a great idea!!  Nothing wasted.  Love it!

For this card I cut two triangles of the mint stripey paper and then used the circle I cut from the first card panel on top.  Love the pierced detail.  All the panels and the card bases have been edged with Midnight Blue ink.   Sentiment - Congratulations for the day.

I wanted to keep a circular element so I cut a frame using the Carly dies from the grey woodgrain paper.  I cut the stripe mint and some dark blue metallic card with Winnie and Walters Do You See What I See die and layered the three die cuts together.  Then I took some of the diamond negative cuts and added two rows of them down each side of the card.  Sentiment says - Have a Fantastic Day

Ele-Friends

Hello.  Welcome.  How's spring coming along with you??  I got snowed on this morning whilst doing a bit of gardening!  Not like, oooh, I'm a snowman!  Just a little sprinkle.  Then it started blizzing with intent so me and the cat decided it was time to check the craft room instead!!  Winnie and Walter are celebrating their 5th birthday.  There are lots of different challenges but I decided to start by stamping a scene.

The elephant pair are from Winnie &Walter Big Hugs stamped with Archival Watering Can and coloured with Hickory Smoke distress ink.  I masked them, and a bit extra for the ground, and stamped the trees from W&W Into The Woods with blue Neon Radiant ink.  I removed the masks and used emerald green and leaf green Brusho's to paint the 'grass'.  I finished by stamping the Friendship sentiment from Crafty Individuals in VersaClair Midnight ink.

Menagerie Set

Hello.  Welcome.  I have made a set of cards inspired by a design by Heather.  I liked the dotty patterned paper card base and the simple stamping on the panel.  So I cut up a 12 x 12 piece of patterned paper to make my card bases, and since I got three from one piece of paper I decided to make a set of three cards.

The patterned paper is from the Works.  I used Sizzix double stitch oval die to cut my panel and stamped the animals from Winnie and Walters Big Hugs clear stamp set.  Then I added a sentiment from Rubber Dance Just a Note (Norwegian sayings) to each panel.

Cute giraffes with a sentiment that means Thank You

Sweet bears with a sentiment that means Thinking of You

A cute elephant and monkey with a sentiment that says a little hello.

E is for Elephant

Hello.  Welcome.  The Craft Barn's Alpha Dictionary challenge has E as this fortnights letter.  I really didn't want to go with elephant.  I looked at many other alternatives.  But then I realised it is.  E is for elephant.  Everyone knows that.  Ask a child.  A is for apple, B is for bear, bee, banana, box, well, OK let's move on......  C is for cat, D is for dog, E is for elephant..................  And I had this lovely stamp from Rubber Dance Stamps that fitted perfectly on my giant playing card so......

I kept this very simple.  I covered my card with white paper, stamped Rubber Dance's Elephant and masked him.  Then I took a piece of ripped paper and used the corner of my black archival ink pad to add a line of ink.  Then I moved the ripped paper up the card and repeated.  Might have to use that technique again.  Definition from the OED.

Hello.  Welcome.  I have a friend.  She likes elephants.  And pink.  She likes pink as well.  So I thought, pink elephant.  Why not......

I used a pink bazzill base card.  I stamped Rubber Dance elephant with Picked Raspberry distress ink.  The birthday is Stamplorations die cut from hot pink card and the wishes is from Stamplorations Birds and Blooms set.  I added a little line and edged the card with Picked Raspberry distress.
