Architectural Cat

Hello Nomad friends.  I have been playing again with the new stamps from Rubber Dance, Garden Cat's and Carved Collection #4.  The carved stamps started me thinking about architecture so I stamped a load of them out with Watering Can ink on grey scraps, fussy cut them and played around with them for a bit.

It's not as CAS as I thought it would be, but it was a lot of fun.

All the new sets are 10% off right now in the store until 15th January and pre-orders will start shipping 22nd January.

Hop over to the blog to see all the new sets and masses of inspiration using them.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Happy New Year Nomad friends.  I hope you have had an wonderful festive season and New Year celebration.  Here's hoping for an awesome 2022.

I am kicking of my 2022 blogging with a card for the start of the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge Let's Fly!  Shared your stamped anythings featuring things that fly.  I chose Lost Coast Designs Gryphon and perched him on an own made column.

I made a simple background by sprinkling various blue Brusho powders on a sheet of white card and spritzing with water and Windsor and Newton Iridescent Watercolour Medium, which gives a beautiful fine bling similar to Wink of Stellar pens.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Gryphon on some very pale lilac card and fussy cut.  I added gold tinsel gel pen to his claws and beak and a bit of red and green gel pen colour to his eye and tongue.  I stamped the 2022 using Lost Coast Designs License Plate Alphabet stamp set on the same pale lilac card.  Then I fussy cut it into a plinth shape, added some score lines and smeared it with grey archival ink.  Not too bad me thinks........  Then I just glued the column and Gryphon in place and mounted the panel on a navy blue slimline card base.

Link up your stamped anythings featuring things that fly to the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  See you there!!

Lion's Short Cousin

Hello Nomad friends.  I love a good challenge.  There's a lot of em out there, but now and again I see one and Mr Mojo perks up and says that sounds interesting.  A challenge that makes me look at my supplies in a different way or nudges me to try a new technique, or just gives me a good kick out of my comfort zone.  Over on fb Carabelle Studios is having a party and they extended the deadline to give us a bit more time.  I'm probably not going to do all 9 of the challenges but I have done one, and here's two more......

This one I love, and he would have been perfect for the Lost Coast Designs Art Doll challenge that just finished.  This really made me look differently at my stamps.  The brief was to use one stamp as the focus, pieces from at least two other stamps, an excentric eye, collage and a quote.  A lot of people would have run away from that recipe but it seems Carabelle Studio fans are made of sterner stuff and there are some awesome entries.  I used Lion as my main stamp and pieces from La Femme aux oiseaux and Kiss.  Lion got shortened and bow 'wings', eyes from one of the ladies and a oiseaux in his hair.  Below you can see the bits I used.  The background is some scraps stamped with Distress Oxide ink and book papers.   Hopefully my oversized glasses are excentric enough........

The second card, cards, were also made using scraps.  The brief was to make stamped strips and arrange them geometrically on two 15 x 15cm white cards.  Here's my cards.  I'm calling them H and L.

I prefer L to H.  I am not sure that H was a good idea.  I really like L.  Love those circles on the verticals.

Here are the stamped strips I made. Love the last one lots.  Lion's trousers and mane!!  What a cool pattern.  And there's Lion himself.  He is such a handsome chap.

Rumbled

Hello Nomad friends.  Today I have the sequel to yesterday's naughty feline antics!! The witch is back and cat's been rumbled!  Or maybe he's is just wary cos the flying monkeys haven't been locked away yet......

I used the new Lost Coast Designs Gnome Witch on a Broom stamped and coloured with distress markers.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Yoga Cat 4 and gave him a pale grey watercolour wash.  I masked the witch and the cat and stamped part of Carmen's Veranda Flying Monkey Background.  Then a little simple distress ink blending to complete the scene.  Run cat, run!!!

Forever Friends

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the annual 31 Days of Halloween celebration over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and the team are stamping up spooktacular makes every day.  Today it's my turn and I teamed Carmen's Veranda Happy Skeleton with this awesome saying......

Yeah!!  Friends forever!!!!!!

I made a smeared distress ink background using Spiced Marmalade, Wilted Violet and Cracked Pistachio.  Then I randomly stamped three of the stamps from Lost Coast Designs Pieces of Calligraphy set with the same inks to give some nice texture.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Ghost Friends sentiment with black ink, stamped, coloured and fussy cut Carmen's Veranda Happy Skeleton and added him to the card.

Wearing Autumn Colours

Hello Nomad friends.  Do you ever start putting things away and see something and end up taking more out than was out in the first place???  Tonight I spotted this Uniko Background Blocks Wonky Stripes stamp and decided to make a card in shades of autumn.

I stamped the Wonky Stripes with red and orange archival ink and then coloured some of the blocks with orange and yellow distress markers.  I stamped the stamen stamp from Uniko Kindness Blooms using brown archival ink randomly over the blocks.  Then I stamped the santa from the Jolly Christmas set and coloured him in shades of green and brown.  The little thanks is from the Kindness Blooms set.

Food For Thought

Hello Nomad friends.  It's World Card Making Day and I hope you have had a chance to get crafty.  The day started rainy, and I thought I would be card making all day, but the sun came out and there were pumpkins to pick......  But I did manage to finish this card inspired by The Paper Events challenge and also De Egel, where they want patchwork

When I think paper-patchwork my mind immediately goes to my Star Quilt die.  I used a medium grey card base and cut the star quilt from black card.  The card is glossy on one side and matt on the other so I pieced the central rays back in reversing alternate pieces.  Then I used more of the base card and pale grey woodgrain card to piece the rest of the design.  I used Stamplorations Stitched Tags to cut more of the woodgrain card and stamped with various food related sentiments from Carmen's Veranda.  A bit of polka dot ribbon, a couple of brads and a few odd patchwork pieces to break up the open space at the bottom  of the card.

Thanks for dropping by.  I do hope you have had a wonderful day.  Hugz

Postritch

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy World Card Making Day (WCMD).  Today is the day to kickstart your festive makes.  There are undoubtedly plenty of extra challenges going on so do let me know if you have found a fun place to play.  It's the 2nd of the month so also time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  The Card Chain Challenge is an international card exchange that happens every month, come rain, come shine, come gloom of night or pandemic!!!!  It's been interesting, sometimes the mail has been slow, but the Card Chain Challenge ladies have been producing amazing art and sending love and joy around the planet, one card at a time, over 3,434 cards since the whole thing started!!.  So here's my card, which only had to hop across the country this month to Pia in Norway.  Hi Pia.

I used Kort og Godt patterned card for the card base and the sentiment is also from K&G.  The Postritch is from Pink Ink and I was lucky enough to win this set from Hobbyhimmelen who were sponsoring the Scrappesyken August challenge.  My first Pink Ink stamps and so cool!!!   The sentiment says Friendship is Life's Joy.  I used dies and a bit of flower ribbon to make it look like a prize ribbon.

Do hop over and check out the awesome REVEAL

Sketchy Autumn Birds

Hello Nomad friends.  I sat down today and just had a play with autumn colours and some of Rubber Dance's lovely stamps.  The new Sketchy Birds are so cute, a little bit bigger than their Textured Bird friends, and really fun to use as a focal point.

I made a simple stamped background using Rubber Dance circle, feather and leaves stamps from the lovely Carved Collection 3 set with distress ink colours.  I stamped and fussy cut the Sketchy Birds for 4 quick and easy cards.

Hop over to the Rubber Dance blog for all the details and more photo's and don't forget to leave a comment on the GIVEAWAY post in the fb group.

Tags for Him

Hello Nomad friends.  I made a couple of painty, stampy, manly tags.

I brayered yellow and orange acrylic paint onto some card and knocked it back with some sponged white.  I did some white and black paint stamping and added some black and white details using the edge of my acrylic block.  I cut two tags using Stamplorations Luggage Tag dies and then stamped Stamplorations Enjoy the Ride car and Big Robots robot on other sections of the painty masterpiece and then fussy cut them.  I stamped the enjoy the ride sentiment directly on the tag and the I Love Every Bit Of You on a scrap of card, cut it and added to the tag.  Some autumn wool to finish and done!

Free Bad Advice

Hello Nomad friends.  I am over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today with a quick and fun card featuring words and leaves.  Our challenge at the moment is Sentiment in Focus and we want to see at least 5 words on your stamped masterpiece.  Since it's autumn and the leaves are swirling around today in the hefty breeze I decided to use one of my favourite leaf stamps, Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background.

I used red, orange and yellow archival ink to stamp my leaf background and then stamped the Carmen's Veranda sentiment on vellum, using a little glue and 4 copper leaf brads to secure it to my card.  So much gorgeous detail on the leaves!

Fish Wisdom

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 15th of the month and time for a new challenge at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  This time we want to see Sentiments in Focus and we are asking that you use at least 5 words on your stamped anythings.   I used Lost Coast Designs new Anchor Fish and paired him with some Travel Quotes.  I love this set cos it has so many cool quotes in some really lovely fonts.  Enjoy!

I stamped Lost Coast Designs Anchor Fish on blue card and embossed with copper embossing powder.  I water coloured him with shades of blue and used a stitched circle die to cut him out, fussy cutting his tail a little so it protruded over the edge of the panel.  Then I stamped the quote.  I found a piece of handmade card and stamped three more quotes.  I found a white card base and did some second generation stamping with Lost Coast Designs Bubbles Background stamp, for that subtle faded look.

Hop over to the blog to join the fun and don't forget to check out all the amazing inspiration from the team.   See you there!   Hugz

Merry Christmoose

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 10th of the month so time for the start of the Let's Squash It! challenge, and it's Friday, so that makes it perfect!!!!   This month we are all about sanding your embossed texture, but hold on there!!  We also want to see you using an embossing folder that includes numbers and/or letters.  Just a little twist to keep it interesting........   I did a Technique Time post a couple of days ago exploring different techniques and had a fun time generating some cool backgrounds.  This wasn't the one I thought to use today, but the moose jumped on it and claimed it for his own.......

If you are trying to work out if the background has anything to do with Christmas then sorry, I must sadly disappoint you!  I brayered some white card with Colourcraft pink Aztec paint, embossed with Cuttlebug Qwerty embossing folder and sanded to expose the white.  Aztec paints are pearlescent so this has a lovely shimmer.  I have a couple of big moose stamps but decided this guy in his scarf and legwarmers was da bomb on this background.  I borrowed the sentiment from a Woodware stamp set.  This moose is Eureka Elg with Scarf.  I added a little Promarker colour and a little glitter glue sparkle to his hat.

Thanks for dropping by.  Do hop over and check out the lovely inspiration from Jo and our guest designer and hope you feel like getting squashy with us.  Hugz

I Wanna Be A Ginger

Hello Nomad friends.  MFT published a new sketch yesterday and it's pretty, so I decided to roll out my MFT Viking stamp and make a tag.

I've gone all yellow/burnt orange for that heading into autumn feel.  I used the small square shadow stamp from Lost Coast Designs and Scattered Straw distress ink for the background pattern on a cream tag.  I coloured the Viking with promarkers, fussy cut and stamped the two sentiments with Dandelion archival ink.  A little rustic wool and done!!

Charlie's Circus

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 8th of the month and I have a Technique Time post over at Let's Squash It! and this month it's all about sanding!    Pop on over and have a read and don't forget to come back on the 10th for the start of the September Let's Squash It! challenge.  That said, I couldn't not use one of the panels I made during my squashy experimenting and I've combined it with some stamps from Carmen's Veranda to supply a bit of Movie Mania inspiration at the same time!   Gotta love a little double bubble!!!!!

I've combined Carmen's Veranda Charlie Chaplin and Cuttlebug circus themed embossing folder to revisit his movie 'The Circus'

I embossed a bronze card slimline panel with the circus themed embossing folder and sanded to expose the black core.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Charlie Chaplin on some grey card with brown ink and fussy cut him.  I straight cut his hat to give a fez look, to match the middle monkey, and added a red tassel.  Then I added the Not My Monkeys sentiment which totally covered up my fez conversion!  Ah, well!!!!!
