Beer Bubbles

Hello.  Welcome.  We have a friend who makes his own beer and always turns up with something new and unusual for us to sample.   When I saw this moose stamp from Ocean Heart Hobby I knew it would be just perfect for him!
Or for any beer aficionado!!

I stamped the Ocean Heart Hobby 004 moose using brown archival on a piece of white card and coloured with distress markers.  I cut around the tips of his antlers and then used a circle die.  The cut antlers slip behind the die when cutting which gives more dimension to the image.  The moose image didn't extend down to the bottom of the circle so I inked it again, turned it upside down and added some of the hair detail to the blank area and then coloured it again to match.  I went a bit over the into the white area and thought that was pretty cool so I inked the bottom of the stamp and worked around the circle to give it a bit extra interest.

Then I decided I wanted a few more circles and went a bit crazy with circle dies and Kort Og Godt Samklang patterned paper.  I am told Samklang means in tune, so we have both learnt something new tonight maybe!  This paper is shades of grungy brown with music staves in parts of it.  I cut lots of circles and edged them with brown ink.  I stamped the Gratulerer Med Dagen (Happy Birthday), which is one of the sentiments in the moose stamp set, on one of the circles and embossed with brass embossing powder.

What's That Look

Hello.  Welcome.  All the paper and card I used on this card came from scrap mountain!!  Yeah!!!

The base card is about 9 x 12cm, cos that's how big the scrap was when I folded it in half.  I took the marbled pattern card scrap, cut it with Stamplorations medium double stitch die and then with a small oval die to make the aperture.  I stamped Taylored Expressions Party Pals candle on a scrap of white and cut it with the matching die.   I coloured it with distress markers and added some small googly eyes.  I added some blue/white twine behind the aperture and the sentiment strip is from a printed sheet from Kort og Godt.  These cute greetings are printed on the back of the bit with the sheet name and I have lots of these useful scraps......  It says Gratulerer med Dagen which means Happy Birthday.

Colouring Like a Girl

Hello Nomad friends.  There's a new challenge in blogland and it's being run by some crafty blokes.  All the challenges are going to be masculine themed, which is great to help with those difficult male cards, and they are kicking off with Cars.  Now, I gotta admit I am not a petrol head, although I have a number of nephews who are, so I am going to apologise in advance for my colouring of this car, which I realise is far from perfect.

Some time ago I saw this Trading It Amy Design Car Frame die and I couldn't resist.  I loved the cool circles and the car.  But I've never used it!!!  Today I spotted it while looking for something else and decided today was the day!  I cut it from some retro patterned paper.  I backed the cuts in the car with some black paper that I embossed using the die to give a bit more dimension.  I'm thinking maybe the door panel and that bit on the wing should have remained retro colour!  Say la doo dah!!   Then I decided to colour the car with Promarkers.  I'm actually quite pleased with how it turned out, although I admit the wheels were a bit of a challenge.  I would probably do some things differently next time, but overall, I think it's acceptable.  I used red Promarker for the car body, grey on the grill/mirrors and black on the tyres.  I really like how the pattern from the paper adds some shading to my Promarker colours.  I used the die to cut some gold card for the headlights.  The Gratulerer med Dagen (happy birthday) was cut from a Kort og Godt paper sheet.  I edged it with blue ink and added a couple of green pearls.

Three Musketeers

Hello.  Welcome.  My friend Elin had a birthday today.  Happy Birthday Elin.  Hope you've had an awesome day.  Here's your card.

Actually, Elin got this in the real this morning and I got a lovely cup of coffee.  Elin makes great coffee.   She also has horses which was a major deciding point when I picked this picture from Kort Og Godt Barn klippark sheet.  Ooh, vintage again!!  I used various printed kraft sheets for my layer and stars.  I used Spellbinders star dies and the Beste Venner (best friends) die is also by Kort og Godt.  This is a new die I haven't used before but I love those little stars and am sure it's going to become a favourite.  Everything got distressed and edged with ink and the leaf printed panel was also cut with Stamplorations Double Stitch Rectangle die.

Foxy

Hello Nomad friends.  UFO #2 is complete!!!   I seem to be doing more masculine makes this month.  This cute fox is by a Norwegian company and I love the size and simple lines.

I used a brown base card and added a panel of Papirdesign Melisglasur paper cut with Sizzix deckle edge die.  I stamped the fox from Papirdesigns Revestreker set on white paper, coloured with Molten Lava and pink Promarkers and fussy cut.  I added a metal star charm from Korthobby.no, cutting off the little hanger dingsen and stamped the sentiment from the fox set with black archival.  It says 'Hurrah, you have a birthday' in Norwegian.

Five is a Magic Number

Hello Nomad friends.  If you dropped by yesterday you might have caught me doing my mini-craftathon.  It was really, really mini, cos I ended up with only two completed projects.  In my defence, not that I need a fence, but...... the newly baked focaccia and saturday night movies did distract me.  Since today is also grey and wet I decided to get back to it and finish up at least some of the 4 UFO's I started yesterday.  So let's start with christmas.   I totally blame this one on the fact that as I was putting away embellishments these wooden reindeer leapt out of their packaging.  The fact that there were 5 of them meant that the 52 Weeks To Christmas 5 Year celebration immeadiately sprang to mind.

I've used 2 Maja Design papers for this card - Holidays in the Alps 'Snowflakes' and 'Let It Snow'.  I love that they print something useful on the back of the paper description bar, in this case that row of lovely snowflakes at the bottom of the card.  So it looks like three, but is actually only two pieces.  The edges of these papers are a bit distressed so I just used my craft knife to rough up the edges I cut.  I added the 5 wooden deer and then came to a grinding halt cos I couldn't decide on the sentiment.  The upper paper is quite busy, but I didn't want to go too dark.  And it needed to be quite big.  In the end I went with this Stamplorations die.  I cut it from a scrap of cream card to echo the natural wood deer.  It still looked a bit lost so I grabbed a bit of leftover cereal box from yesterday, cut it twice and stuck the three die cuts together, offsetting the cream one so I got a darker shadow.  It really helped it stand out whilst still keeping with the natural wood type colours.

Vintage Christmas Friends

Hello.  Welcome.  My mini craftathon continues with a vintage style christmas card.  I bought a sheet of sepia christmas pictures from Kort og Godt and decided to use one which featured two girls to make a friends christmas card.

Quite pleased with how this turned out.  Vintage is a style I find extra challenging....

I started with the picture of the girls and a weetabix cereal box!!  The bright colour piece on the bottom is the outside of the packaging and the small dark brown piece is the inside.  I thought it was a bit bright to be vintage so I cut a panel with a stitch rectangle die and smeared Picket Fence distress ink on it to tone it down.  Later I blended Walnut Stain on the same panel to add more texture, and it was a really cool effect which you can see in the other pictures.

I used a chocolate brown base card and added the recycled inked panel.  I distressed the edges of the picture, inked with Old Paper distress ink and then layered it on a scrap of corrugated card that I gave a white acrylic paint wash.  I cut Memory Box Tivoli Snowflake twice and Poppystamps Snowflake collage from more of the cereal box and added the two large and three small snowflakes to the card, arranging the larger ones so they went in front and behind the panel with the two friends.  I added iridescent glitter glue to the snowflakes and also to the snowball in the girl's hand.  To finish I cut Memory Box scripty Merry Christmas from the cereal box card and inked it with Walnut Stain distress ink.

Bee Organised

Hello Nomad friends.  I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday.  It's a bit grey and damp here so I decided to spend a bit of time in my crafty space.  I checked a few challenge requirements and made a list.  It was quite a list!!!  Being ill sure has put me behind.   So, armed with list and good intentions I started a mini craft-athon.

My first offering for the day is this little sweetie.

I got an order from Honey Bee Stamps the other day and they included a thank you postcard which had this cute image printed on the backside.  In the interests of using some stuff I decided to make it into a birthday card.  I cut the postcard into three and used some gold card as my card base.

I used Promarkers to colour the flowers and bees.   I had these spring themed dome stickers which I added to the flower centers and a metal happy birthday cake charm that I added to the flower bottom left.  I popped the middle section of the postcard up on foam dots.  Pretty cute and very pleased to have used this card and not just added it to scrap mountain!!

Thanks for dropping by.  I'll be back soon with project #2.  Hugz

My Dog Likes Coffee

Hello Nomad friends.   I love this grumpy dog stamp from AALL and Create and I saw they had a challenge using techniques from a recent craftalong so I thought I'd play.

I smooched distress oxide antique linen, fossilised amber and salty ocean in the background.  I added some fossilized amber and salty ocean DOx through Aall&Create Magic stencil and stamped the skull music stave from Aall&Create Rocking Solo stamp set with Salty Ocean Dox.  I also stamped the domino/clock stamp across the card.  I stamped the clock on a piece of white card that I had also smooched with DOx inks.  I cut around the clock and part of the grungy design and edged it with Candied Apple DOx.  I stamped the dog from the Coffee First set, coloured with distress markers and fussy cut.  I added him and the clock panel to the card.  I stamped the sentiment with Candied Apple DOx and then black archival on top.  Some smears of red and blue, mount on a red card base and done.

I Got That Elfin Feeling

Hello Nomad friends.   Feeling much more mysELF today and was inspired to ink up this stamp the lovely Jo sent me.  Penguins!!!!   Lots of.  But actually one less than was on the stamp, cos I only wanted 5.   This is a reminder that I am elfing at the Christmas Kickstart challenge this month and it's anything penguin and christmas.  And this stamp is the prize!!  Well, not this actually stamp, cos this one is mine, all mine, bwahahahhaaaa, but one very like it.

So I masked off one penguin before stamping the rest of the gang on a panel of patterned paper.  The 'from all of us' is part of the stamp, so I just found a merry christmas in a similar font to add above it.  I used a red gel pen on hats and scarves and orange on beaks and feet.  I used picket fence distress ink on their hats and also along the bottom of the card to tone down the 'snow'.  Love that little dude in the middle.

Floral Delight

Hello Nomad friends.  A bit of a grey day here in Norway today so I decided to play with some bright spring green and yellow Brusho powders to make a happy card.

I used Sea Green, Emerald Green, Yellow and Sunburst Yellow Brusho powders with Stamploration Dots And Dashes stencil to make the background, then cut Stamplorations Bloomtangled #1 die from black card.  For more details on how I made the background, and for a bonus second card, hop over to the Colourcraft blog.

Girl With a Pearl

Hello Nomad friends.  I've been down and out a few days with the dreaded lurgy.  Hope you are avoiding it.  I'm catching up with the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity party where the challenge has just changed to Walk of Fame - stamped projects featuring famous people.  I really hope this will spark some interesting creations.  I know a lot of you have stamps of movie stars, scientists, classic portraits etc, etc, etc.  A long as it's a famous person, real or fictional, and real stamping is the focus of the project then hop on over and link it up.  I've been playing with Maria today, better known as The Girl With The Pearl Earring (Johannes Vermeer c.1665)

I used Carmen's Veranda Girl With Pearl and stamped with Manganese Blue archival.  I love the semi-silhouette look to this stamp and that pensive look.  I masked her and stamped part of Lost Coast Designs Daffodils Background at an angle using Sky Blue archival ink.  I used a thin pen to add a hard line to the edge of the daffodil image and edged the stamped part of the card with the Manganese ink.

Coffee Love

Hello.  Welcome.  Impression Obsession have a challenge theme of Love Is In The Air.  I was thinking literally in the air when I added red glitter hearts to this coffee cup cluster!!

I think this is one that looks so much better in the real.   My camera needs to learn to appreciate glitter more!!  I stamped the coffee cups from Impression Obsession Smell The Coffee set on white card with black archival ink and coloured the cups with red and caramel Promarkers.  I die cut hearts from red glitter paper using IO Heart of Hearts die.  I like this one cos it gives you lots of different size hearts.  I stamped the sentiment from the coffee set and added a bit of red glitter to the cups.

Duck Billed Friends

Hello.  Welcome.  Thinking of and sending hugz to Australia.  Seeing lots of koala's.  Here's one of our less represented antipodean friends.  I love Platypus.  They are just AWESOME!!  I imagine they are taking a beating in the fires, and since they nest underground......   Hoping you get rain soon.  Will try to send some of ours your way....

I used Honey Bee Stamps Penny paper piecing die and various bits from scrap mountain.  The bill and feet were cut from some fluffy stuff I found.  I gave her a gold metal heart charm from Korthobby.no to have and to hold.   The sentiment is a Paperartsy stamp (ding and dong set) and I used a preprinted base card from DCWV?  Penny is just so cute!!!!

Let's Be Awesome

Hello.  Welcome.  The start of a new month, year, decade and people talk about looking back, looking forward, resolutions and words for the year.   I don't usually subscribe to much of this cos I figure if you don't make it too concrete then there's less pressure and if it happens, it happens, and if it doesn't then nothings broken.  Laid back me.  But I am starting to think that I do have a word this year.  It keeps cropping up.  I keep using it.  So I have decided to adopt it as my own.  So this year's word is AWESOME.   It's gonna be an awesome year, filled with awesome things and awesome people, and of course, I am going to be awesome too.  Wait, I already am!!  And so are you!  So let's all be awesome together.

Grabbing a load of scraps from Scrap Mountain I stamped Papersmooches Chubby Friends Owl with Sky Blue archival and added some colour with Distress markers.   I die cut him a hat (borrowed from a snowman) and coloured it with distress inks.  The branch is part of Sizzix Deer die (the one with the wreath).  I cut extra flowers, added colour with Promarkers and silver glitter and a rhinestone in each flower.

52 Weeks to Christmas are celebrating their 5th anniversary and want to see 5 of something on your christmas cards.  I used 4 flowers on the branch and another on his hat, each with a rhinestone.  The sentiment is a Kort og Godt stamp and means warm Christmas hugs.

The base card is Kort og Godt patterned card and if I may direct your eyes towards the bottom of the card I used a Fiskars Border Punch to add some fancy detail.  I think this one is called Lace.  It actually cuts a fancy edge and the bit at the bottom falls away.  I decided to back the fancy detail with a scrap of blue card and return the bit that was cut off, cos I know me and if I didn't use it then it would only hike over to scrap mountain!!   A scrap instantly generated and used!!   Awesome!!!!!!

Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz
