Aloha

Hello Nomad friends.  I appear to have missed the start of a new month LOL.  Yesterday I had my traditional autumn thanks giving party.  I started this the first year I was in Norway when I realised how thankful I was for being here in this beautiful place, for food grown in the garden, for family and friends.  So I invite everyone and make a big pot of food, my Norwegian sisters and mother make amazing cakes, for which I am very thankful yum yum, and a fun time is had by all.

But now...it's the second of the month and time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  My card this month went to Joanne in Connecticut.

I went with the sketch and the options of  trees and friendship.

I used some yellow scraps for the 'island' and text panel.  The trees are sizzix dies also cut from green and brown scraps.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the Papernest Doll stamp.  Isn't she cute, and that weird coloured rooster.

I received a wonderful card from Gail in Canada ðŸ¥° Thanks Gail

If you would like to see all the cards that were sent this month hop over and check out the REVEAL

If you would like to join the fun the November SIGN UP is open until the 6th

Chicken In Paris

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 2nd of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  21 awesome artists took part in the May exchange including a new player, Wendy in Ireland.  So nice to have new friends to send snail mail to.

I sent my card to Dagmara in Poland this month and went with the options of Chickens and Smiles and Laughter.

I embossed the kraft background with sizzix paris folder and grunged it up with old paper distress ink.  I stamped the Hobby Art chicken, fussy cut and added him to the card.  The sentiment is from Carmen's Veranda, which is my go to for funny words!

Do hop over and check out all the awesome cards in the REVEAL

If you would like to join the fun there is still time to SIGN UP for June

Oh Valentine

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy Valentines Day.  Hope you got a little extra love today.  I was doing a bit of gardening this afternoon, beating some errant ivy into submission, and then it snowed! Well!!  Really??!!  Luckily I did take a fun video of my hens attacking some lettuces before the white stuff came down.  I'll add it in at the end of the post just for some extra action, but first........

Over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity we are all about Fruit, Flower and Foliage all this month.  I incorporated a few hearts and flowers for this fun birthday card.

I used Lost Coast Designs Heart and Curls Border stamped down each side of my card panel with mulberry ink.  Then I masked and stamped Lost Coast Designs ATC Doodle Flower multiple times with sunflower ink.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut Lost Coast Designs Day of the Dead Woman and added her to the bottom of the stamped panel.  Finally I added the Carmen's Veranda Hot and Sexy sentiment which I stamped on a scrap of white card.

It's Fruit, Flower and Foliage all this month at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity so don't forget to check out all the gorgeous makes from the team and link up your own for a chance to win.

Round and Round the Bunny

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy Easter.  Hope there was chocolate.  Geometric shapes make me happy.  I have a little box full of circles scraps from cutting apertures or to gut layers.  The other day I sorted them into colours.  Plenty blue circles, so I decided to play with layers, and then it ended up like this.....

Another bold and bright die cut card.  The bunny and chick are sizzix dies and I found a pink circle for the sun which I embossed with Simon Says Stamp Starburst embossing folder and inked with worn Lipstick distress ink.  The bunny and chick are also cut from scraps.

The Birds Say It's Spring

Hello Nomad friends.   I am feeling the Spring.  Maybe being too hopeful but where there's hope......  I've gone all green and avian with my inspiration for the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge where we are saying LET'S FLY!!  I am already seeing birds carrying sticks and carrying on!!

I've used Lost Coast Designs MRaven1, Grunge Border 2" and Travel Quotes stamps.

I split the Grunge Border and stamped the two pieces above each other using a variety of Distress inks.  Then I smeared Twisted Citron randomly to fill in some of the white spaces.

I stamped and black embossed the Raven and added some distress marker colour.  I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of white card and squiffy cut it.

'Try everything once
then try it again
Somewhere else
'

More signs of spring!!  This is Beardy with her chick Holly, who hatched 3 days ago.  Only one, but what a proud mum!!!!!

Scrappy Awesome

Hello Nomad friends.  Another lovely warm sunny day.  Ate good food with friends, watched the rabbits and chickens hopping and chickin around, pulled some weeds, ate ice cream.  Don't forget to buy ice creams that not only taste good but also have great boxes!!!   I used my ice cream box to cut the kraft panels for this card and then lots of scraps for the paper weaving.

Actually loving this.  I used Stamplorations stitched rectangle and Marianne Designs paper weaving die.  I wove lots of scraps together and also wove some paper strips around the panel edges.  Four tiny metal heart brads and I cut Gummiapan's Lolita (the chicken) from a scrap of the painted card.

Old McSplendid's Farm

Hello Nomad friends.  Stumbled over Scrappegarasjen Mixed Media Inspiration Day.  This is an online meeting tomorrow, but they've already set three challenges today and we have until Sunday evening to play along.  So happy!!  The weather was looking a bit iffy and my Mojo is really flagging in the heat.  I decided I should do a bit outside before it rained, but walking past my craft room I thought of the first challenge - make something in 5 minutes.  Well, it's only 5 minutes.  Isn't it???   Turned out 5 minutes is an extremely short period of time, especially for time unaware slow crafters.

Anyway, this is what I wanted to make in 5 minutes!!!  Told you I am time challenged, in more ways than one!!!!

I watched the video made for the inspiration for this challenge and she gathered all her supplies before starting the clock.  That's handy cos I would have had to restart the clock at least twice already!!!!   I found a scrap of patterned card, a scrap of Bazzill, some Kaiserkraft corrugated tag and The Greeting Farm McSplendid Farm stamps (NBUS)

OK, so there was the stamping on the Bazzill with brown archival ink, the cutting up of the patterned panel and the inking of the edges with brown Promarker, the fussy cutting of the images and sentiments with more Promarker colour and edging and a little white gel pen here and there, the gluing together and the addition of the wool.  I managed to get the pig tag made in under 5 minutes, and also the hen one, another 5 minutes.  The cow and horse took longer, so didn't make the cut, but isn't it a cute set!!!!!   The cow was going to say Hi, but the Hi vanished, so I restamped a Hey, which I thought was more appropriate anyway........

Thanks for dropping by.  I did get out and do some weeding so that was good.  Now I have recharged with a lovely cup of tea and some freshly picked and cooked beans, so I am heading outside again while the sun is still shinning.  See you soon though.  Hugz

Hello Nomad friend.  The second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  In case you missed it!! the Card Chain Challenge is a monthly international card exchange.  You make a card, you send a card, you get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone wins!!  Despite the current dismal state of the postal service the Card Chain Challenge has been running continuously throughout the pandemic.  In fact it's been running continuously since October 2009!!  Participants have exchanged over 3,300 cards and we are the big mover and shaker in the global love, peace and art movement.  Join us.  We still need a few more countries to fulfill our global participation list.   Here's my card that I sent to Alexander in Germany.

I went with the options of colours, blue, blue and white, embossing folders and friendship.  Alex said he liked my fun scene.  So happy.  Embossing folder Sizzix Collage, Chicken by Hobby Art, the Hello is a Stamploration Skinny Sentiment die mounted on a hangy sign.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hop over and check out the reveal.  If you want to join the fun the June sign up is open until the 6th July.  Hugz

Little Egg Box

Hello Nomad friends.  I have been playing with my Tonic Studio Lantern dies again and this time I decided to make a three sided triangular box.  I decided would be perfect for a kinder egg type chocolate.  The dies include a base for a square and pentagonal box, and I thought a triangular box!  Despite looking at it and seeing that it wasn't an equilateral triangle it wasn't until I was going to glue the base on that I had a eureka moment!!!!  Cutting a 6cm equilateral triangle wasn't rocket science, but I was getting a bit short on the same colour Bazzill card by this time!!!

I used the filigree dies to cut a window in each of the three sides and the triangle 'roof' decoration.  I backed the windows with acetate and added some yellow crepe paper shreds inside to put my egg on.  I edged the box with Sunflower Promarker and die cut the chick and egg from dies sent to me by a friend.  I used some very old 40mm wide ribbon with yellow chickens printed on it.  Perfect!!  Well, almost.  It's a bit wide, but that means it doesn't slip, so I just made a loose knot and fishtail cut the ends.  Don't want it to be too difficult to access the egg!!!!

New Kid on the Block

Hello Nomad friends.  I would like you to say a big hi and hello to a brand new Norwegian stamp company

https://www.facebook.com/pg/Ocean-Heart-Hobby-111247430269906/posts/?ref=page_internal

Ocean Heart Hobby

They launched on the 15th of October with 8 clear stamp sets featuring some unique, fun and detailed designs.  I loved these stamps as soon as I saw them and I am so happy and excited to say that I have joined their very first design team.
Squuueeeeeee.  How fun is that!!!

Here's my first make with the very cool party hen from Ocean Heart Hobby's second stamp set.

I've used some woodgrain patterned paper with large coloured stripes which have a bit of a distressed look.

I stamped the Hen, coloured with Promarkers and white gel pen and fussy cut.  I added some crystal glaze to her eyes and some glitter to her pom poms.  On her hat!!!!  I cut a section from a grey stripe on the patterned paper, popped it up on foam and added it in front of the hen.

I stamped the #gratulerermeddagen (a norwegian happy birthday greeting) from the hen stamp set and the gratulerer (congratulations) from another set.  I added a few gold starburst and black dot stickers and a grey card base to finish.

At the moment the sentiments with these sets are all Norwegian.  Sorry rest of the world!!  Maybe this is a good time to learn a new language!!!!  Actually, I know there are Norwegian speakers all over world and the stamp designs are just so cool I am sure they will appeal to you.  Do hop over to the Ocean Heart Hobby fb page and say hi and give them a like.  If you are lucky enough to have some of these stamps there is a competition running until the 10th December.  Make anything with Ocean Heart Hobby for one of 4 chances to win a exciting prize.

Hello Hen

Hello.  Welcome.  I sent this card to Marga in Spain as a part of the Card Chain Challenge international card exchange.  I am just about to add it to the May reveal as it was a few days late.  Maybe it caught a slow pigeon.  Maybe Bird Brain walked there??  She certainly looks like she is on summer holiday.....  Feet up, empty egg box, summer colours.

I used a cream textured base card and added a scrap of patterned paper that looked a bit Moroccan Tiles.  Then I added a piece of chicken printed ribbon that I have had in my stash forever!!!!!   I stamped Art Impressions Bird Brain, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  I used Poppystamps Hello cutting plate on a scrap of the same patterned paper that I used at the base of the card.

If you would like to see the full reveal of all the cards that whizzed around the planet in May then hop over to the Card Chain Challenge blog.

If you would like to join the fun the July sign up is open now.  Make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone's a winner!!

Peeps!!!

Hello Nomad Friends.  Well, that was April.  Mine was crazy busy.  How about you??  Here's another project life layout featuring hens.  Bound to be animals or gardens with me!  This is Henriette with her brood.  She used to like to jump up on my lap or shoulder if she got the chance.

The 15 x 15 card in the top left is actually a dictionary I started making and failed!!  I have about 6 letters completed and H is for Hen was one of them.  When I saw Monica's moodboard sandy steps reminded me of the colours of my hens, and I thought the green stripey paper looked like the pages of the closed book, if you squint maybe LOL, and there's a bird on the moodboard as well.........  The blue circle behind the cut out hen is actually a piece of fabric.  I used a journal card and an acetate overlay with awesome printed on it.

Hurrah for Pizza Boxes

Hello.  Welcome.  I have been doing some more PL layouts.  Here's one of some chicks my hen Lillemor hatched back in 2014.  This is their first day outside.

I used cardstock stickers and printed acetate pieces from a Nine&Co. collection pack and some PL cards from the This and That set.  Peeps are so cute!!  I was inspired by Emma's moodboard - greens, flowers, hearts and nature.

Chick Talk

Hello.  Welcome.  Hope you are having a fun Saturday.  I did a few things in the garden, but it's pretty chilly, so I decided to put together an ATC that I had an idea for.  For a change the picture in my brain became reality quite rapidly, once I located the chicken!!!

I spotted Art Impressions small Birdie stamp and it got me thinking about Janis' ATC with chickens challenge.

I cut an ATC from kraft using a Sizzix die and stamped it with Potting Soil archival ink and Whimsy Stamps Into The Farm background stamp.

I cut a piece of silver mirror card with the ATC die and then used Die-Versions Fence background die.  I used some real straw at the bottom of the card and stamped, embossed, coloured and fussy cut Art Impressions small Birdie stamp.  The sentiment is also Art Impressions.

Spring Inchies

Hello.  Welcome.  There's a new theme challenge over at Rubber Dance and this fortnight we want to see embossing.  Wet, dry or paste, the choice is yours.  I made a couple of tiny pieces of art.

If you are wondering why they are called inchies it's cos each of these tiny beauties is only one inch square!!  It's actually amazing how much you can cram into a small space.  I used MDF inchies from Things To Alter, so they are quite chunky.  I stamped part of the large spiral from Rubber Dance Round in Circles and embossed with green embossing powder.  Then I stamped the small heart stamp from Rubber Dance Textured Spring and embossed with red powder.  I stamped, embossed and fussy cut the chick and lots of small flowers from the Textured Spring set.  The sheep was a bigger image so I stamped him on shrink plastic and he became a perfect size!!

How Now Valentine Cow

Hello.  Welcome.  A special hi and hello to D-.  So glad you joined my wonderful followers.  Thank you all for your support and encouragement.  Hugz all round.

Happy Valentines Day everyone.  Hope you shared lots of love today.  I decided to pack mine in a mini pizza box LOL

Well, it's Valentine's Day so I decided purple and hot pink was a perfect colour scheme.  I used my scor-pal and this tutorial to make my mini pizza box in purple card.  Then I die cut Sizzix Damask background from hot pink card and dyed some lace with Picked Raspberry distress ink.

Then I stamped and embossed Penny Black Skip and Romp on white card, coloured, cut and inked the edges with Picked Raspberry.  I added some embroidered hearts and flowers ribbon and filled with some yummy chocolates.  Hmmmm, Happy Valentines Day

Cosmic Cow Meets Beef and Chicken

Hello.   Welcome.  Was going to stun you with witty repertoire but lots of pictures to share so lets get on.....  Here are my week 15 cards for Claudine's Altered Playing Card Challenge.  If you would like to see what Claudine did go HERE.  Claudine started by adding black and white embossing paste through masks to her cards

I made a mask using Simon Says Stamp Luminary Circles die and used Dreamweavers black embossing paste.  I used a Prima mask and grunge paste on my second card.

I spritzed with Ariondack Meadow Color Wash and a homemade blend of gold shimmer spritz and caramel reinker.  Hope you can see the sparkle.  I love how it pooled around the embossed circles.

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut Penny Black's Skip and Romp.  The whole image was too wide so I had to perform a chickenectomy.  Don't worry.  The amputated chicken survived and is recovering nicely.  I added some spotty paper tape and then scribbled some daisies in the sky!!  Flowers falling from heaven?  These were inspired by the daisies on the Penny Black stamp.  I coloured with my white gel pen, which promptly went greenish!!  A perfect blend.......

I sprayed my second card with Dylusions After Midnight and Polished Jade.  Oops, a little heavy on the After Midnight!!  I let it dry a bit then blotted it with a tissue.

I added some white and black outlines to my embossed shapes.  I stamped Penny Black's For A Spin on white card, coloured and fussy cut.  I had stamped the image on the card, but it didn't work very well, so I drew in the spoke details.  It was floating around a bit so I added some die cut cloudy shapes.  Ooh, Cosmic Cow on a bike LOL

What a pair!!!  I am so loving this challenge.  Claudine, you inspire me to madness.  Hugz
