Swan Lake

Hello Nomad friends.  The first challenge of the year at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity is things beginning with B.  There are so many options for this theme, but please remember we are a stamping challenge and your make must feature real rubber or clear stamping and the theme.  I decided to go all Swan Lake.

I've used blue and brown archival inks ad Lost Coast Designs stamps, Ballerina aka Robust Dancer, Bird aka swan from Up Close and Personal and Bubbles Background.

Join the fun for a chance to win.

Keep Paddling

Hello.  Welcome.  When I see water birds serenely floating on the surface I always think of their legs going like crazy underneath.  It reminds me to just keep paddling.

I used the Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch along with Penny Black Wonky Squares die and the swan from Animal Wisdom.  I coloured with Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean Distress Oxides.  The pretty border is cut using a Poppystamp border die and the sentiment is from Unity Stamps.  I stamped and cut the ribbon around the swans neck in dark blue and added three tiny heart buttons.

Swans and Sevens and Rainbows

Hello.  Welcome.  Another post inspired by the WCMD challenges.  It kinda evolved a bit and became another twofer.  I quite like this little card blitz.  Mr Mojo is usually a bit slower on the uptake LOL.  So, numbers.  I had in mind 7, cos that's the theme of Milka's I Love Maths Challenge.  I remembered I had bought X-cuts 12 Days of Christmas ages ago and never used them.  So 7 = swans.  Christmas card then eh??

Since swans are traditionally white I decided to go all white on white.  I cut 7 swans and arranged them on my card.  Then I cut the number 7 and the letters using Sizzix alpha dies.  Then I'm musing.  7 swans a swimmin', 7 chakras, 7 colours of the rainbow, WHOA, rainbow.  Well, why not.........

Gosh, the same but different!   So I cut my coloured swans from a load of snippets from the scrap box.  Then I decided to cut the 7 and the words in a rainbow of colour as well.  What do you think??

A Big Thank You

Hello.  Welcome.  A special Hi and Hello to Becca.  So glad you have joined my little following.

I have been reflecting on things.  Despite being busy with life I managed to post 263 times last year.  Some of those posts resulted in prizes.  Most of them resulted in comments, and I am very thankful to everyone who takes the time to visit, and especially those who take the time to comment.  I know I have not been so good at visiting and commenting last year and I hope to get around more and share the love this year.  I am also thankful for the friends I have made and the encouragement you give me.  For the fabulous people who are sharing amazing projects and inspiration every day that allow me to learn and expand my art and myself.  For the generous individuals and companies who give so much time, effort and also goodies that make blogland such a fun place to be.  So this one is for you because I wanted to say Thank You, that you have taken the time to include me in your day.  HUGZ

I started by embossing a layer of blue card with Cheery Lynn Diamonds and Starburst embossing plate and highlighting with Brilliance Starlight Silver ink.  I cut Cheery Lynn's Emperor Swan from silver card and backed it with the embossed layer.  I cut a dark blue mount and used the Starburst Silver ink to highlight again.  I cut a thank you from silver card using Sizzix Ida Lou's Flower Box dies and stuck them to a piece of the same silver card.  Then I backed it with some of the dark blue.

Monogamy

Hello.  Welcome.  Did you know swans mate for life.  I thought this would make a suitable motif for a golden wedding anniversary card.

I started by cutting MME Ooh La La Over The Top paper with Cheery Lynn Tiny Bubbles Borders three times.  I backed them with yellow paper, added a hint of DI Dried Marigold and mounted the panel on gold glitter card.  I added some yellow stripy ribbon over the joints between the panels.  I added a layer of the same MME paper, distressed the edges and coloured with the Dried Marigold.  I cut Cheery Lynn Emperor Swan from gold mirror card and Cheery Lynn Wheat Heads from gold glitter card.   I didn't have an 'anniversary' sticker so it just reads Golden.

Swan Song

Hello.  Welcome.  Thank you all for your lovely comments you have left on my posts.  I really do appreciate the time you take to visit and it is so nice to know that you have enjoyed my crafty endeavors.  Your comments are little ray of sunshine so thank you so much for visiting my little bloggy corner.

Joan, formerly of Joan's Garden, has started up her challenges again.  I really enjoy Joan's challenges.  She does a little recipe that really makes you think and put things together that maybe you usually wouldn't.  Well, it works like that for me.  I missed the first couple but here I am with my card for number three.  Joan's recipe this week was embossing folder, green and white and an oval.

I letterpressed a piece of green card using Sizzix Damask embossing folder and Distress Mowed Lawn ink.  I used Cheery Lynn Emperor Swan Doily die to cut the aperture and backed it with paper from DCWV Cherry Limeade stack.  Then I cut the swan in white and used DI to colour the frame.  I added Cheery Lynn Tiny Bubbles Border.  All the flowers are Cheery Lynn dies: Wheat Heads, Build a Flower #1 for the leaves, Build a Flower #3 Embellishments for those tiny little flowers and Cuties 2 for the big flowers.  I added a ribbon and a double bow and some more of those tiny flowers cut from the DCWV paper.  All the pearls and the pretty brad are from Storyteller.
