Mug Hugz

Hello Nomad friends.  Bit dreary here today.  I think autumn has a firm grip.  A good day to craft.  Mr Mojo wasn't so keen, but we did manage this with some pink scraps I had spotted in the patterned scraps bin the other day.

The Unity Girl was already stamped on a scrap of pink, I just needed to fussy cut her and add a little salmon pink to the heart.  Sentiment to be added later if required.

Keeping Off The Rain

Hello Nomad friend.  It's the 10th of the month so time for the new challenge at Let's Squash It!!  This month the theme is double emboss.  I did a Technique Time post the other day with some tips and ideas so do check that out.  Here's a card I made using one of the panels that I showed in that post.

I used a plaid embossing folder that came with Lisa Horton Inspired to Create issue 68 magazine.

I inked the flatter side of the folder and embossed my off white card with Vintage Photo distress powder.  Made me think industrial....

I inked the edges of the panel and added it to a kraft card base.  I die cut Sizzix Umbrella Man and Creative Expressions chain from black card, and added some bronze flower sequins and half pearls.

Thanks for dropping by.  Do hop over to the Let's Squash It! blog and check out Jo's fabulous make and join the fun this month.

Little Ginger

Hello Nomad friends.  The day started well.  Expectations and motivation was high.  Things went well, and that extra hour was just magic.  Time is a funny old thing.

I used Papirdesign Melisglasur double sided paper for this card.  Does it count as two designer papers when you use both sides of the sheet???  A layer on the card base, then a stitch die cut panel then the adorable Papirdesign Pepperkake (Gingerbread man) cut from the same designer paper.  There are two main dies in this set.  The largest one cuts a tag and then you have the smaller layer.  I didn't want a tag so I cut the largest die from brown card and snipped off the little hanger.  Then I added the smaller ginger, cut from the patterned paper, edged with Tea Dye distress and decorated with white smile and iced squiggles, a couple of black enamel dots for the eyes and three bronze half pearls.  The God Jul (Merry Christmas) is wood, also by Papirdesigns.   I thought it needed a little something so I used irridescent glitter glue on the outside brown frame.  Always good with a bit of Christmas bling.

Confirmed

Hello Nomad friends.  In Norway nearly everyone gets confirmed when they are 15.  It's the thing to do, and quite a big thing it is too.  Because of the C-19 all of this was put on hold in May/June and it's all happening this month instead.   I have been asked for some cards for boys and here's the first one I made.

I used a piece of vintage grungy music patterned designer card for card base.  The sentiment is a printed strip from the edge of a Kort og Godt 30x30 sheet.  I've backed it and the Maya Designs picture with blue card.  I added a metal leafy flourish and roundel, both from Korthobby.no, and added metallic burgundy pearls to both.

Owl Be Home For Christmas

Hello Nomad friends.  I was looking through some of my older posts and spotted this owl die that I haven't used in a loooong time.  So I decided it was time for it to shine again.

I cut Die-namites Festive Owls from green and white card.  I cut away the white owls, pushed out the negatives and coloured all the bits with Promarkers.  Then I put them back together and added the owls to the green die cut.  I added a load of red half pearls and a yellow circle behind them.  I gold embossed the Panduro sentiment on a textured green base card and added the owl die cut.  Done!!

Fun With Brusho's

Hello.  Welcome.  I've been playing with my Brusho's powders this weekend and came up with a fun technique using a drinking straw.  No, I'm not drinking my Brusho's!!  I'm going dotty with them!!

I used the background I made with Emerald, Leaf Green, Sea Green and Ost Blue Brusho's and a Uniko stamp for the flowers.  Hop over to the Colourcraft blog for all the details.  Sentiment from Rubber Dance stamps.

Sweet Ginger

Hello.  Welcome.  Needed to play with the little ginger again.

He's so cute!!   I used Papirdesign Pepperkake die, cut from brown paper and edged with Tea Dye distress ink.  I used white card cut with dies from the same die set and white half-pearls, also by Papirdesign, two which I coloured with black Promarker for his eyes.  The tag I cut from patterned paper using Stamplorations medium Luggage Tag die.

I used Papirdesign's foam pads to mount the ginger on the tag and then I decided to make a second tag.  I used the small luggage die with the same red patterned card and then cut Papirdesign's God Jul (Merry Christmas) from dark brown paper.

I added both tags to a bag of caramalised almonds I made, using a piece of gold and red twine with a couple of square wood beads on the end to attach them.   Love that ginger!!!

A Little Ginger

Hello.  Welcome.  I tried my hand at a few edible christmas goodies this year that I hadn't tried before and, as with all experimentation, there were successes and failures and everything in between.  It has prompted me to consider Project Life again as a fun way to record such happenings and I decided to make a start with a title card for my proposed baking layout.  Well, you gotta start somewhere.......

I was lucky enough to win this little Papirdesign Gingerbreadman die from the Advent calendar of the ladies at Project Life Norge. I would like to say a big thank you to them for it and also for all the work they put into the Advent Calendar posts.  I started with a Bekky Higgins 6x4 journal card.  I grunged up the edges and the card with brown Archival ink.  I cut the little ginger and the Sizzix letters and numbers from a scrap of brown Bazzill dot card.  The white bits were cut using dies in the Gingerbread Man set from scraps of white card.  Then I added some white half pearls from Papirdesigns, colouring the two I used for his eyes with a black Promarker.

Hot Wings

Hello.  Welcome.  Another not my usual style but oh, it's hot and pretty.

I cased Annelie for the Ett Trykk advent calendar challenge.  I started by masking the edges of my card and giving it a Picked Raspberry, Festive Berry and Mustard Seed distress ink wash.  I used some die cut flower/leaf stems sent by Robyn which I watercoloured with the same inks.  Thanks Robyn.  I die cut the doily element using Fuzzy Lemon Lollipop Tree die and an unbranded scallop.  The butterfly was a die cut sent by Joy that I backed with a piece of red card.  Thanks Joy.  I added some half pearls and a Prima flower to finish.

Bllama

Hello.  Welcome.  About 10 years ago I nearly bought myself an alpaca.  Yes, a real alpaca.  But it never happened, which is probably a good thing.  I would have just paid for someone else to keep it and probably only visited once a year, so where's the fun in that??!  But, many years on, I still love alpacas and llamas and this card was a delight to make.

I am really pleased with how this turned out.  I did some fancy die cutting to get my flowery frame, and I wasn't sure it would work, but it actually came out almost exactly how I saw it in my head!  Way to go Mr Mojo!!

I cut a square of pale blue card.  I used Hero Arts Paper Layering Swirl Flower die and partially cut it into the corners by using a small cutting plate.  This is a two part die.  The flower petals only partially cut and then there is an 'angel wing' die to cut the outline.

Then I used a craft knife to cut between the flower to leave a thin frame.  I lifted the petals and shaped them slightly and coloured with turquoise and dark blue chalk.    Then I forgot to take more step by step photo's..........

I found some flowery lace and coloured it with Tumbled Glass distress ink and added it along the top and bottom inside edge of the frame.  I stamped Hero Arts Word Pops stamp using Salty Ocean DOx on blue card for a bit of tone on tone texture and backed the flower frame.  I cut the flower centers again, layered them up and added some half pearls.  I stamped Hero Arts Llama with dark blue ink, fussy cut and coloured with Stormy Sky distess ink.  This stamp set comes with a die but it leaves a white border that I am not used to, and I like fussy cutting.  I added a small ribbon bow, also coloured with the Tumbled Glass ink.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the llama set and also 29 Again, which is a Rubber Dance stamp, with the dark blue ink and mounted the panel on a steel blue base.

Pink Lighthouse

Hello.  Welcome.  The card I sent to Karren in New Zealand for the August Card Chain Challenge has finally arrived, so I have added it to the reveal and can share it with you too.

I went with the sketch, sort of, the colours, plus a few, the theme of lighthouse, cos I really thought a pink lighthouse was a must, and glitter, which had nothing to do with anything other than the chance to add bling LOL.  I used Taylored Expressions Cookie Monster card for the base.  I cut Fuzzy Lemons Lighthouse die from rainbow corrugated card and used some scraps to cut the shell, yacht and tiny house again.  I coloured them and stuck them back onto the die cut.  I used some scraps of blue, white and black card to make the lighthouse 'beams' and gave the blue areas a generous coating of iridescent glitter glue.  I added some half pearls and stamped the sentiment.

Law of Cat

Hello.  Welcome.  The challenge over at Dies R Us is shaped cards, so I decided it was time for another outing with the Sizzix Fancy Chair die.  This comes with a matching embossing folder and is a really fun die.  It's quite nice to have a free standing chair, and since Lost Coast have a cat event going on, I decided to fill my chair with a cat.  A happy cat, of course......

How cool is that??!!!  I cut the chair from corrugated card, which gets compressed as it is cut, so gives a nice strong card front, but remains quite light.  I embossed with the matching folder and tinted with Frayed Burlap distress ink.  I embossed some hot pink card and fussy cut the 'upholstery'.  I highlighted some details with a red pen and added some lace to the edge of the cushion.  Went a bit crazy with the pearls!!!   Most of the embossed 'buttons' are covered by the cat so only two pearls on the chair back, so I decided to embellish the chair arms as well.

The cat is Lost Coast's Happy Cat, stamped wth black archival ink and fussy cut.  I stamped the sentiment with Staz On ink on shrink plastic.  It reads

'she decided to schedule some time each day to be
overwhelmed by the sheer amazingness of it all'

She is a very wise cat.

A Cat For Janis

Hello.  Welcome.  A special hi and hello to UTs Hobby Time and Guadalupe.  So happy to have you along.  Hugz to all my followers, friends and lurkers.  Hugz.

Have you noticed that blogland's cat lovers are having a hop?   Janis has organised the fun and we are digging out out feline stash and showing it the light of day.  Many of my kittys are blinking and wondering who is disturbing their naps!!!   Some have been napping a long time......

So here's one for Janis.  I actually got myself organised and this one went in the post.  I have had the word, so I can share with you........

I used Sizzix movers and shapers Friends die and a docrafts checkered embossing folder.  The cat is an Anita's stamp, embossed, coloured and fussy cut.  The flowers are Die-namites Floral Vase, without the vases LOL.  I added a half pearl in the center of each.  I added a piece of black tape and some Seedless Preserves ink to make the 'wall' more dimensional.

Thanks for dropping by.  Don't forget to check out the hop.  Lots of lovely cats of display.  Meow.  That is catz for Hugz

Off The Block

Hello.  Welcome.  A special hi and hello to Karen Petitt, who has joined my friends connect followers, and also to Amanda Rhodes, who is following by email, and left me a lovely comment so I know.  I really appreciate all of my friends, followers and lurkers.  If you want a little mention and some personnal appreciation then just leave a comment to let me know and I will say hi.  That said, hugz all round and on with the blah, blah, blah.

I suppose anyone new to my blog might be thinking I'm a monochrome kind of girl.  I just realised that I have posted a few black and white creations, and I warn you, there are more to come.  But right now I am sharing a little vintage number.  Not my strongest style, but you just got to give it a go now and then.

The car is a Kort og Godt stamp on DoCrafts patterned paper, with very distressed edges.  The circle paper is DCWV.  I used Cheery Lynn Tiny Bubble Border to cut the blue card, leaving some of the negatives in place.

The metal feathers are from Korthobby and I added a couple of brown half pearls from Storyteller.

Watch Out For Trees

Hello.  Welcome.  How nice not to have to think so much about it.  Another card I am CASEing over at Pinkfresh Studios.  I loved Jennifer's card with the bicycle.  So I had a look around and discovered bicycle stamps don't seem to feature too heavily in my stash.  Then I remembered that LOTV do one of my favourite and luckily I have the Here Comes Annabel art pad.  So here's Annabel......

I did a bit of fancy cutting to get her head and pigtails outside the slide frame.  I cut the slide frame by hand out of card I coloured with Distress Inks.  Dotty paper from an unknown source.  The metal cycles are from Korthobby and I added some of the Storyteller pearls at the bottom of the frame.  Love that little doggy in the basket.  The sentiment means Good Luck in Norwegian and is a Kort og Godt stamp.

It's a Selfie

Hello.  Welcome.  Gosh Friday again!  Where does the time go?  Another wet grey day so taking the chance to do a little crafting in between the showers.  Since it's Friday it's Friends With Flair over at Unity Stamps.  Link up a project for a chance to win.  If you don't have any Unity Stamps then leave a comment and you still might get lucky.

I inked up Unity Stamps Vicky, Catherine and Leica Girls and stamped onto MME 29th Street Cotton Candy paper.  I coloured the image with Memory Markers.  OK, I admit not a brilliant colouring job.  It looks a bit like they are in their PJ's.  Maybe it's a sleep over they wanted to immortalise with a picture.  I embossed the frame with Enchanted Gold embossing powder.  I wanted to add some more colour to the background so I took a tip from Beejay and covered the whole frame area with clear embossing powder.  This allowed me to add various pink shades of Distress Ink and spritz with water without affecting the colours.  It also gave a really cool glossy effect.  The two sentiments are both from Unity Stamp September 2012 SMAK kit.  It looked a bit bare so I added some pearls from Storyteller.

Flowers for Joan

Hello.  Welcome  I've used a Prima doll, MME patterned cardstock and the recipe from Joan's Touch to make this confirmation card.  Joan's recipe this week was to cut your card so part of the image stood above the fold and to use cardstock for colour.  I found this quite a challenge and it was going to be a christmas tree card but I have discovered my cutting skills aren't so good when you need the positive and negative intact.  And the christmas tree die has temporarily disappeared so no help there.  Instead I found a stamp with simple lines and went with that.

I stamped my Prima Doll using Memento Black Tuxedo ink directly onto the patterned cardstock and cut out the top of the image and then folded the card.  I stamped again on flowered paper and paper pieced her dress and hairband.  I coloured her hair with henna promarker and added some shading to the ruffle with blue promarker.  I added some lace.  Had to cut around her a bit more to get it behind her.  Added some pearls from Storyteller and the sentiment is Kort og Godt.  It reads good luck today and for the future.  I added some dots with a black marker on the RHS to extend the stamp and make it look a bit better.  Although I admit it's not the straightest stamping I have ever done.  I still need to put something over the back hole and an insert inside.  A little shabby chic maybe..........

Felt like I needed some more dots so I have doodled and doodled a bit more.  Now she looks grounded.

It's Magic

Hello.  Welcome.  A special big and happy hello to Birgitta.  Welcome to my happy following.  I have been doing a little gardening today.  Not a lot, just a bit of tidying up.  A couple of the chickens snuck past me when I went in the pen this afternoon.  Then the rest were complaining because those few were out so I let them all out.  They went charging round the garden scratching up leaves and soil and generally having a great time.  Not much for them to destroy at this time of year.  All the snow of a few days ago has melted in our unseasonable weather.  10°C today.  Hey double figures, that's summer temperatures here in Norway.  Very strange.......  Getting dark early though so still time to come in and do a little crafting.

Todays challenge at Swirlydoos was to make a magic gift box.  Now I think this was a significant project to tackle with the short deadline involved but after looking at the video I thought I'd give it a go.  I've never made one of these and although it did take some time it wasn't as much as I thought it would take.

The link above gives the a link to the how to video.  For my trays I used Do-crafts Chronology papers.  For my box sides I used a double sided poinsettia paper from my stash.  The image on the inside flap is from LOTV Winter Wonderland  art pad.

Here's my closed box.  The lid was also made from the Chronology paper.  I used some green satin ribbon for my bow, some white and silver cord with felt snowflakes.  Some silver beads and pearls.  I have edged all the papers with chalk ink.

Here's a close up of the LOTV image.  I grounded her with some iridescent glitter glue but it doesn't show much in the photo.

Open with the lid and the pretty dangles.
