Food For Thought

Hello Nomad friends.  It's World Card Making Day and I hope you have had a chance to get crafty.  The day started rainy, and I thought I would be card making all day, but the sun came out and there were pumpkins to pick......  But I did manage to finish this card inspired by The Paper Events challenge and also De Egel, where they want patchwork

When I think paper-patchwork my mind immediately goes to my Star Quilt die.  I used a medium grey card base and cut the star quilt from black card.  The card is glossy on one side and matt on the other so I pieced the central rays back in reversing alternate pieces.  Then I used more of the base card and pale grey woodgrain card to piece the rest of the design.  I used Stamplorations Stitched Tags to cut more of the woodgrain card and stamped with various food related sentiments from Carmen's Veranda.  A bit of polka dot ribbon, a couple of brads and a few odd patchwork pieces to break up the open space at the bottom  of the card.

Thanks for dropping by.  I do hope you have had a wonderful day.  Hugz

The Saga of Scary Monster

Unbelievable!!  Totally unbelievable.  Hi everyone, welcome to my little corner of blogland.  You may need to check out last nights post here to get some references but basically me and Scary Monster were clipping along at the trot last night.  You know that patchwork paper is a lot of sewing.  I'm glad I went real.  I am sure if I had resorted to the pen then I would have run out of inspiration before the end.  Anyway, this morning feeling buoyed by the success I decided to make some cards.  Me and SM.  Would you believe SM jammed on the second stitch!   Arrggggg.  OK, deep breath, sort it out, try again.   OK, now we are cooking, I mean sewing.   Thread break!!   Deep sigh.  OK, off again.  Needle break!!  OK, I get the message.  Luckily I had done the bits that show so please forgive my resorting to the glue.

I liked Darcy's clean style cards she made.  This background is so lovely so why not showcase it.  I have sewn on a piece of DCWV Dots paper and the sentiment is from Art Impressions.

Thanks for dropping by again.  It's a particularly wet and yukky day here in Norway so maybe there will be more, although I really must tidy a little after the explosion of masks and stamps and paints last night.  Maybe me and Scary Monster will be back on speaking terms.  At least I have to fix the needle.  Now where are my spares.....

The Whole Point of Patchwork is......

Greetings and welcome to the last day of August 2013.  Wow, where did that go.  Oh gosh, where did it go.  This might not get posted til tomorrow cos tomorrow is almost here!  So welcome to the first day of September 2013.   I've had an intensive craft session this evening which involved the Sewing Machine.  I think I shall henceforth call it the Scary Monster.  Anyway, we seemed to be on the same page tonight.

Over at PaperArtsy it's Darcy week and she did just so many cool projects.  Tonight I'm trying out the patchwork project.

I started here, but decided after playing for a while that three sheets was too much for my resources.

So I combined my colours on one sheet and after doing what Darcy said got this

The Scary Monster seemed to like the project and we got to this

Some stamping, some doodling and we got this

As well as the Scary Monster I used various masks from Tando Creative, PaperArtsy fresco finish paints and stamps from LPC001, LPC022, MN16, SM12, Winter Wonderland Plate 6 and maybe more.....

Thanks for dropping by.  I just need to think what to do with this fabby background.  It almost seems a pity to cut it up!  Take care, be crafty
