Bright Like a Diamond

Hello Nomad friends.  The end of the month is nigh.........  Did a sneaky bit of seed sowing this evening so I could tell myself I got them in in April bwahaahahahaaaaa.  Ah well, it has been a lovely day and a glorious evening.  And I did manage to get to the craft room and do some last of the month things.

Opps, sorry, should have given you a bright alert!!  This looks kinda hectic, but basically it's the Kort og Godt wiggly circle die put together as many layers, with a Honey Bee sunburst die cut in yellow and a spellbinders flower in a pot.  Then I added a Papirdesigns birthday greeting and some negative bits from last nights buckles cos a gold glitter diamond or 9 is hard to put in the bin.

Presently Santa

Hello Nomad friends.  It's Christmas time!!!   OK, take a breath!  I am trying for at least two xmas cards a month and here's my first March offering.

I made a round card with lots of Do-craft cardboard sticker presents and a MFP stamped, embossed, coloured and fussy cut santa.  I cut the background layers of Nille patterned paper with Kort og Godt wavy circle dies.

and then turned it into an easel card.

Forest Walks

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 2nd of the month and time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  In case you missed it this is an international card exchange.  You make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card.  Everyone's a winner!!

This time I sent my card to Michaela in Austria and I used the colours, the sketch and the theme of forest.

I embossed the background with Do-crafts Cherry Blossom stripe folder and gave it a pink watercolour wash.  I used various dies to cut the trees and grass from various scraps and stamped Time For Tea girl and butterfly, coloured and fussy cut them.

Top Of The Morning to You

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy St Patrick's Day!  I love spring.  I am always in awe of how many greens Mother Nature finds to paint the new growth.  Such a gorgeous dynamic time of year.   Today I have a little reminder for the Let's Squash It! Emboss Deboss challenge.   We want you to take any embossing folder and use both sides (emboss and deboss) of the same folder on the same card. There are some lovely makes in the linky so do pop over and check em out and join the fun.  Here's a leprechaun to wish you a lucky day.

He's so glad I remembered to take him out for the day!!  I used Do-crafts Oak Leaf folder, embossed the background, stamped the sentiment of a strip of white card that was lying on the desk and debossed with the oak leaf folder.  I stamped Pink and Main leprechaun on another scrap, coloured and fussy cut.

You have until the end of the month to join the fun.  See you there....

Both Sides Together

Hello Nomad friends.  I hope you are having a lovely sunny day.  It's time for the new challenge at Let's Squash It! and this month we want you to use the emboss and deboss of the same folder on the same card.  Jo has done an awesome Technique Time with explanations, tips and fab ideas, so be sure to check that out.  This was a really fun idea to play with and it gives some lovely results.  Sometimes it's surprizing how different the same emboss and deboss look!!   And my favourite technique of smearing with distress inks makes this technique a really stand out.  Here's my card....

I used one of my favourite flower folders by DoCraft called Cherry Blossom Stripe.

I started by embossing two pieces of card and flipping one over, but I wasn't totally happy with this so I decided to try folding a piece of card and running that through the folder.  Wonderful!  Obviously you need to use a thinnish card, I have 180gms here, otherwise the two layers will be very stressed.  But when you open it up you have the emboss and deboss on the same side of the card, front and back, so double the chance to play!!!  I used Picked Raspberry distress oxide ink to smear my textures. The lines on this folder disguise the center fold a bit and I like the mirror image I got.

I cut the panel to size and added a stamped, fussy cut Unity butterfly and a pre-printed happy birthday sentiment.

Hop over and check out Jo's beautiful card and
join the Let's Squash It! fun.

Let Bubbles Sleep

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 10th of the month and time for the new challenge at Let's Squash It!  Let's Squash It! is the first and probably the only challenge for embossing folders in the universe.   We are having a blast exploring the not so humble embossing folder, dusting them off and making them do things previously unimagined.  Well, maybe.....  Here's something I imagined at 3 o'clock in the morning.......

This is my inspiration card for the start of challenge #7,
use at least 3 different embossing folders and include a person.

I started with this DoCrafts Born To Shop Beauty Sleep embossing folder.

I embossed a piece of white card and using Promarkers and Distress Markers I coloured the image.  Then I fussy cut it.  Quite an interesting result me thinks.

I used DoCraft A5 Cherry Blossom Stripe folder with lime green card and Sizzix Stripes folder with dark green card, cut the pieces 4cm wide and glued them to a 5 x 7" card.  The Stripes folder is only 4x6, so there is a join where I extended the embossing, but it doesn't matter cos I'm gonna stick a chair over it!!!!!  A new way to hide a card boo boo!!!!

The chair and the cat were kinda flying in mid air so I made some ground using a piece of gold pearlescent card that I embossed with Sizzix Dot Swirl folder.

Hop over to the Let's Squash It! blog, check out the awesome inspiration from Jo and our GDT Sally and join the fun.  If you needs some ideas for using your embossing folders don't forget to look at the Technique Time posts.

Oceans of Love

Hello Nomad friends.  Memory Box have the theme of hearts for their February challenge.  I don't have any of their heart dies but when I saw the Sending Oceans of Love sentiment in their Oceanside Typewriter Sentiments stamp set I decided to think outside the box a bit.  I found some curiously patterned paper and paired it a heart embossing folder and some fish!!
A perfect valentine for an Oceanographer.

Hearts in the sea and fish out of water!!!!  I think these oddly combined elements work strangely well together.

I wanted to show the patterned paper sheet I started with.  I got this World Travels pad at The Works.  This is a sheet 30 x 30 printed with 6 distressed map pieces.  Isn't it cool!!

I chose the map bottom right.  I stamped the sending oceans of love sentiment from Memory Box Oceanside Typewriter Sentiments using brown archival ink.  It fitted so perfectly into the space it looks like it is part of the original sheet!!!!  Then I embossed this piece with Do-Crafts Hearts embossing folder, distressed the edges of the sheet and inked them with Frayed Burlap distress ink.

I mounted the distressed panel on a card base made from another sheet from the World Travel paper pad and cut some fish from the same sheet using the die from Memory Box Underwater Scene die set.  Strange, but kinda cool me think.  What say you??

With a Happy Heart

Hello.  Welcome.  Making a bold statement with Primary colours.

I cut a blue panel with Stamplorations Crazy Stitch Rectangle die, embossed it with a Do-Crafts Basket Weave folder and added it to a yellow base card.  I cut Poppystamps Heart Swoosh from yellow and red card and pieced the red heart into the yellow swoosh.  I stamped the tiny happy birthday with blue dye ink.

Legless In Charge Of A Rabbit

Hello.  Welcome.  If you saw my last post you might have noticed the yellow I used.  It's not a colour I use so much.   I don't know why.  It's just not a go to colour for me.  But I decided to give it another whirl tonight.

I paper pieced Gorjuss Hush Little Bunny, large version.  Actually, it's pretty huge.  So huge I ended up cutting her legs off!!  Since I bought this one cos it had a bunny then her legs are a minor consideration.  I used patterned paper for her dress, and if you think this one is a bit retro you should have seen the first one!!!!   It was the ugliest dress in paper piecing history!!!!   I like this one much better.  I used some yellow coir paper for the bunny.   I added colour to the rabbit and the girl using Promarkers.  The sentiment is a Taylored Expressions stamp embossed with black on the gold card base.  I coloured the hearts black and added some gold glitter glue and the bunny's eyes are Mustard Seed Distress Ox on black card and fussy cut.

CCC May

Hello.  Welcome.  Here's the card I made for the May Card Chain Challenge.

I used bronze card for my base card.  The heart paper is from DoCrafts Born to Shop paper pad.  On the RHS I added the top layer of a napkin.  I thought this was a great sentiment and since one of the challenge themes was food I thought it appropriate.  What do you mean?  Of course champagne is one of the most important food groups........  I added a layer of mauve which I covered with clear wink of stella.  Gotta love the bling.  I embossed the lady from one of DoCrafts Born to Shop embossing folders, coloured her with distress inks and cut her out.

Shoes Or Chocolate?

Hello.  Welcome.  Another sunny day here in Norway.  Despite the cold wind blowing I was very good and did some weeding so the crafting has taken a back seat today.  That said, it's Saturday.  The Craft Barn's Q&L Challenge is closing in a few hours so here's my idea.  I went to brainyquotes to look for a suitable quote for either of the challenge words.  I found something about a little bit of chocolate doesn't hurt.  That took me to give us your money and nobody gets hurt and a cat with a pistol.  But that's a line from a movie and a total nother story but it reminded me of shoes.  Sorry but yes my brain does work like this most of the time.  Are you still with me???   Where were we?  Oh yes, shoes and an embossing folder.......

I've used a piece of patterned paper that had a big shoe on it (manufacturer unknown) and one of the Docrafts Born to Shop embossing folders.  Some fancy work with the top plate on the Bigshot and I managed to just emboss the words onto the patterned paper.  I went over them with a black sharpie and then decided to outline with white pen to make them stand out.  I almost forgot to photo but this halfway step is quite cool I think.  I have also distressed the edge and gone round with different colour DI.  Usually I stick to a single colour but I really like this effect.

I embossed the Shoe Shopper on white card, coloured her with DI Dried Marigold, Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean and fussy cut her.  Then I mounted the panel on a base card made from patterned paper from DCWV Cherry Limeade Stack.

Inspired Gardening

Hi everyone.  Me again. Well, of course it's me!  Glad you dropped by.  Not many days left now until the big day.  For some people that's Christmas, for others it's the end of the world!!  Personally I have  planned my vegetable patch for next year so if the end of the Mayan Calendar does indeed signify the end of the world then I shall be very disappointed.    I have big plans for salsify and quinoa.   The Mayans would approve of quinoa.

I've had a productive afternoon and managed to finish another project that I want to submit to the Kortglede challenge.  This closes in an hour or so so must blog fast.

A folder made of paper......

Inside a set of notelets

I used an A3 piece of patterned card which I folded in half and then folded in 5cm at each end.  The card was white on the back so I added an insert of handmade paper.   I spritzed the front with Tsukineko silver shimmer spritz and added a tag stamped with K-3117 from The Montage Collection.  I used Sizzix embosslit spiral and a brad and then attatched a silver loop to hold it closed.  I made a set of 6 notelets using Born to Shop Green Goddess embossing folder.  I coloured them using a wide variety of ink pads.  Whatever came to hand and looked good.  Quite pleased with the result.  Here's some better views of the notelets......

So this is my gift made of paper.  No chocolate in sight!

Take care, thanks for visiting.  All comments gratefully received.
