Brimming With Style

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the first Tuesday of the month, and what a glorious day it is today.  It is also time for the start of the April Christmas Kickstart Challenge and this month the theme is Brimming With Style.  Sorry, no drinks involved LOL.  We want to see HATS on your Christmas card creations.  Hats on Santa, hats on gnomes, hats on cats, hats on bats.....  OK, maybe not too many Christmas bats, but you never know.   I am very honoured to have been asked to Elf-out this month, so here's my inspiration to help get you started.  I went with a hatted bear in a Christmas tree forest.

Isn't he rather adorable!!  I used Creative Expressions Wrapped Up stamp set, which I actually won at Christmas Kickstart Challenge many moons ago.  About time I stamped it out.  I started with a piece of Marianne Designs woodgrain paper, which, like many of my genius design ideas, was handily lying on my desk.  Looks wintery me thinks.  I stamped the sentiment, then the trees, and gave them a bit of scribbly distress marker colour.  I stamped the bear on a piece of white card, coloured and fussy cut.  Doesn't he look grand and happy in his little forest.  I added some glitter to the base of the trees and the stars cos glitter is always in fashion.

Jo gave me my own special hat to elf-out in!!  Fabulous.  Love the built in ears.  Off to the shops soon.

I hope you get time to make a card or two, if Christmas is your thing, and if you happen to be stamping gnomes the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity would also love to see them.

Musical Musings

Hello Nomad friends.  2nd of the month and time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  Make a card, send a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone is a winner!!  Genius concept!!

My card went to Linda in Minnesota this month.   One of the options was gnomes, which coincidentally is also the theme at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Challenge this month LOL, and because Linda is musical I selected this wonderful ZZ Top Gnome for her card.

Isn't he cool!!  I also went for the colours, sketch, friendship and stamp option.  I've used Lost Coast Designs Grunge Border 2" on the background, stamped with Picked Raspberry distress ink, smeared with Worn Lipstick and spritzed to make it all blend together.   When it was dry I cut the wholes using a sizzix mixed media die and added my stamped, coloured and fussy cut gnome.   The friends forever are Lost Coast Designs word stamps.

I hope you have enjoyed my card.  If you would like to see all the amazing card that winged their way around the planet for March check out the REVEAL POST

Odd Socks

Hello Nomad friends.   It's APRIL!!!!  It definitely rates in my top 10 of my most favourite months of the year.  Anyway, 1st of April, and no fooling, there's a new challenge over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  This month we are all about the little people and want you to share your stamped anythings featuring GNOMES!!!

Lost Coast Designs have a whole cupboard filled with adorable gnomes and I recently acquired this very cute Book Gnome.  I love books, and I have lots of friends who love books, so this little dude is going to be very useful.  I paired him with Lost Coast Designs Mayan Stele for an academic feel.

You have all month to shared your stamped anythings featuring Gnomes for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  Hope to see you in the linky.

Easter Bonnet

Hello Nomad friends.   This card was inspired by the Boblende kreativitet's moodboard and then it went a little bit strange.

I started with a white hammered card base and smeared with mowed lawn distress ink then added a sheet of green paper embossed with a gemini embossing folder.  I smeared the embossed detail with pine needle distress ink to make it pop.  I cut the rosette using sizzix paper rosette die and some small strips of red card.  Then I added some blue scalloped circles and for some reason then I grabbed my missees Betty dies and went with blue hair.  I have always fancied blue hair!!!   Looks like her easter bonnet is exuberant!!

Beer Box Bunnies

Hello Nomad friends.   Clocks forward an hour in Europe today leaving us owls way behind.  So here's a bunch of bunnies to brighten a grey short day.

Staring at the double-sided patterned card I used for my card base I finally decided it came from The Works.  I used a scrap of greenish card cut with Mama Elephant grass die and smooched with Mowed Lawn distress ink for the ground.  The bunnies are all cut from ex-beer box, and hoping my beer loving friend pays us a visit over Easter and brings me a new box, cos this one is disappearing fast.  I actually used three different bunny dies (you don't say!!) from two different manufacturers and three different sets.  Mix and match at it's finest!!  Mummy bunny with the egg is Nellie Snellen Easter bunny.  I added a little promarker detail and paper pieced a few more scraps in for the egg and flower.  Bunny on the left is from sizzix Nature Friends set, and bunny on the right from sizzix Quirky Animals.

For a change I did a little inside management with the other half of the grass cut scrap and a writing field cut with Kort og Godt wonky circle.

Deer Friends

Hello Nomad friends.  My second christmas card for the month, this one inspired by a few different challenges.

I kept this scrap of patterned paper from the Nille sheet I was using the other day cos I thought the embossed deer and trees would make a nice background.  Endless Passion had the perfect sketch and I decided to add Poppystamps Shasta Oval Frame and Grand Whittle Reindeer to the scene.  The sentiment panel is a Spellbinders die stamped with some letter stamps.

A Girl's Best Friend

Hello Nomad friends.  I'm feeling pastel and purple and scrappy and geometrical.

I do like a nice hexagon card.  I used Daisy Mae distressed hexagons for the card base and smeared my white hammered card with wilted violet distress ink.  The little kraft squares are leftovers from when I cut some Poppystamp Clever Keypad details many moons ago, but a cute scrap is a cute scrap.  I stamped the squares with potting soil archival and a Rubber Dance heart stamp which will never be the same again.  Looking at it now, I maybe didn't need to permanently alter it, but heart stamps I have oodles of, triangles? not so many.  The girl is a piece of printed Studio Light paper cut with Poppystamps Simple Rings die.  Now, these are awesome!!   I thought I was buying a set of circle dies, but you actually get a set that cuts 2mm wide rings!!  You also get the circles for inside the rings, but in this case they are the negative cut, from ex-beer packaging.  What lovely kraft card they use for food.
