Blue and Brown and Motorbikes

Hello Nomad friends.  Is it only me or do you feel it is time to drink hot chocolate????   I made a masculine card today using some pretty papers from Scrap and Me.

I used two of the pattrened papers from the Something Else collection, partially fussy cutting around the motorbike.  I embossed part of the brown paper with a gemini embossing folder, die cut a tag and added stamping using various Kort og Godt stamps.  A blue star brad and done!!

Steampunk Pussy

Hello Nomad friends.   It's the second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  Make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card.  Everyone is a winner!!!   Sending love around the world one card at a time.  This month I sent to Robyn in Australia.

I used the options of paint and friendship.  I embossed the white panel and then brayered aztec copper paint onto the texture.  I stamped the Funky Fossil Steampunk cat, coloured with distress markers and fussy cut her.  I used Marianne Designs Postage die on the painty panel.  The sentiment is a favourite from Craft Individuals and I added a few die cut cogs to finish.

Making Stuff Sort Of Day

Hello Nomad friends.  I think we probably have about 6 inches of snow on the ground after repeated showers yesterday and the day before.  The temperatures have come up a bit and it still looks like it could go either way.  I have taken advantage of a snowy weekend to make a few cards.

First, a Christmas card with a stamped wordy background.  I put a variety of Christmas sentiment clear stamps together on my acrylic block, repeatedly stamped them on pale grey card and embossed with red embossing powder.  Then I smeared the whole thing with red ink.  I added a couple of Signature die cut fa lla lla lla llamas, in scarves of course.

Gotta llove a llama.  I used some scraps of light grey card for the llama's and some snippets of red and yellow to dress them up.

My second card is based on the sketch at Creative Sketchy Girls.  I decided to make a masculine birthday easel card and repeat the sketch inside too.

I used a blue cog paper from Docrafts and some scraps of brown patterned card that I cut into thin strips.  The vintage car toppers are from Craft Creations (shop closed).  I've had them a long time.  The metal cog charm is from Korthobby.no.

Grandfathers Tailcoat

Hello Nomad friends.  There's a fun challenge at Art Piaskownica and the badge is awesome.  Here's my tail coat project.

I started with a Tando Creative Arabian Style greyboard arch.  It comes with a frame.

My plan was to use shades of brown so I sprinkled brown Brusho powder on the naked greyboard and spritzed with water.  Wait for it to dry a bit and repeat until ascetically appealing.  Love the variation of the colour crystals in the Brusho powders.  While the frame was still damp I embossed it with a Do-craft cogs embossing folder.  These greyboard elements are quite thick.  I took one plate out of my bigshot, and I recommend using an old warped flexible plate, cos I did manage to crack my last kinda tidy plate.  Ah well.......

I stamped Kort og Godt tail coat and bowler hat with Potting Soil archival ink on a piece of weetabix box, and also stamped some cogs from another set on the coat.  I added a copper bottle cap with a paperartsy stamped face and glossy accents, then the hat with a Korthobby.no metal charm.  Lots more Korthobby copper metal charms and some fancy fluffy brown wool.  I added a heavy card base behind, but I'm thinking it might make a cool picture or hangy dingsen??

Let's Call It A Day

Hello Nomad friends.  Today was a day.  I felt all out of kilter.  Things that I expected to happen didn't, things that I expected to work didn't, things to do got postponed, lots of things got started, not many got finished.  It was a day!!  But tomorrow is a new day and it will be better.  I have decided.  So I threw some stuff together that summed up my day.
I'm gonna call it art.

I cut a cabinet shape card from patterned card and smeared with distress and distress oxides.  I cut Gadget Gears from blue scrap, embossed with bottle cap embossing folder and smeared a little Walnut Stain.  I cut Cheery Lynn Barbed Wire and Stamplorations words from dark blue scraps.  I cut Umbrella Man from a scrap of black, slightly textured wallpaper.

This sums up my day.  And I am still waiting for the rain that never came.

Rockin' Rodent - 31 Days of Halloween Day 13

Merry met mist walkers.  My 31 Days of Halloween offering tonight is, at first glance, a little bit cute, but wait!!
Flying rodents!!!
It makes me shiver to think of it.
Even if they are cute rodents!!!!
Meet Spiffy.

I started by cutting a piece of copper card with a stitched circle die.  Then I cut a piece of bronze card with a Spellbinders Cog die.  I embossed it with Do-Crafts Triboss Cogs embossing folder.  I love this bronze card, cos it has a black core!!!  Sandpaper for amazingly cool effects.

I stamped Spiffy with black archival and coloured with distress inks and Promarkers.  I started adding the Korthobby.no metal charms, the cog with the flower (they are separate pieces) bottom right, the clock hands just above the right wing, and then I had one of those moments.........   Lets make him rock!!!  So I cut a 15 x 10cm base card with the circle die, which puts the card hinge about 3/4's of the way up the front panel, making for a nice steady rocker.

Here he is mid-roll........   I had to do a bit of trial and error with the final metal charm, the open clock top left.  I used a bit of folded low tack tape to figure out where it needed to be for counterbalance.  I added a piece of grey card stamped with a cog behind the clock for a nice shadow effect.   I think this is the best rocker I have made.  He really rolls beautifully.
Go Spiffy, GO!!!!

Percy

Hello.  Welcome.  Last night I was lurking on fb and stumbled into the Scrappesyken scrapping group.  I haven't visited in a while, but they are having some quick weekend challenges and Mr Mojo said 'Ooooh, let's play!!  This card is for the Steampunk Moodboard challenge.  Now, it's not a style I usually do, but whilst shuffling the stash I spotted two Sheena Douglas stamps that I had never inked up, even though I couldn't resist buying them.  So I figured this was the time to get busy with em.  Meet Percy.

Oh, isn't he just adorbs!!!
Can't believe I haven't used him before!!

I started with this printed kraft card and cut a panel with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die.

Then I embossed the panel with Do-Crafts Triboss Pocket Watch folder and smeared it with Tea Dye distress ink. I'm calling this Bokeh.

I stamped Percy with black archival ink, coloured with distress inks and Promarkers and fussy cut.  I added four metal charms from Korthobby.no, the watch, the cog, the ace of hearts playing card and the little roundel on his hat.  I added a yellow rhinestone in the center of the roundel.  I cut one of the circles from the background card and stamped it with Gratulerer and wrote med dagen (which is a Happy Birthday greeting in Norwegian).  I mounted the panel on a grey base card.

Move Over Umbrella Man

Hello.  Welcome.  I spent some time today baking pig cookies.

And then I did this

I embossed a bronze Stardream panel with do-crafts cogs die and sanded back to reveal the black core.  I did a strange offset white layer and a black card base.  The sentiment is from Rubber Dance, white embossed on black card.  The bird is from PaperArtsy stamped on text paper.

Coming Of Age

Hello.  Welcome.  Here in Scandanavia confirmation season is fast approaching, so I decided to make a male confirmations card.  I am still on black and white and I quite like the look.

I've used a white card base and added a panel that I die cut with Stamplorations Crazy Double Stitched rectangle die.  I stamped the panel with a Paperartsy postcard stamp and embossed with black.  I cut a large cog from white card using Spellbinders cog die and stamped the sentiment from Kort og Godt and inked the edges of the cog to give it a bit of a grungy feel.  I stamped the boy from the same Kort og Godt set, fussy cut him and added him to the card.

This Is What Happens When You Tidy Up

Hello.  Welcome.  So I'm doing a little organising and I move some sheets of paper and find two queen of hearts, a mad hatter and a piece of wall paper.  I am fairly certain the queens and hatter are from a previous wonderland inspiration that fizzed and died, but since Lost Coast are back in wonderland and looking for steampunk I thought I would too.

Yes, I know.  It's weird.  Or maybe 'what is it'??  Both valid responses!  But steampunk isn't one of my things.  I always think metal and cogs so Korthobby charms it is.  The eagle eyed may have spotted the snowflake.  Ah, well, not quite enough cogs you see, and I figured it was wonderland so probably the weirder the better.  Yep, that weird background is a piece of wallpaper.  I mounted it on a journaling card cos I figured this wonder of wondering was going to be way to heavy to fly with a pigeon.  I stamped, embossed and fussy cut the queen and the hatter.  I coloured the queen red and left the hatter b/w, but maybe he should be coloured as well?  What do you think?

Queeny says 'Look at the time, wildflower past a dragonfly already'.  Hatter replies 'Strawberry shortcake'.   Hugz

The Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Hello.  Welcome.  Happy Easter to all who partake thereof, and a Happy Day to everyone.  Hope the Easter Bunny has been good to you and your basket overfloweth with eggs of many sizes.  Especially chocolate ones.  Big, chocolate ones.  Hugz

Decided to have another play with the retiform technique.  Really quite intrigued with the result and, for someone who doesn't really like fiddle, the masking and inking and masking and stamping is really quite relaxing and enjoyable.   I decided to go blue.  I like blue.  Also I keep coming across the autism awareness blog hop and they like blue as well.

So I masked off my sections and used Salty Ocean distress.  Remembered to do the edges this time as well LOL.  I liked the shape of the center section and still thinking Autism blog hop I wondered if I had any light bulb images.

Yes!!  Stampers Anonymous Industrial Blueprints.  Actually, I thought these were perfect for what I understand Autism to be.  The lightbulb, the cogs, the lock and the key.   This is a fun technique and makes an interesting one layer card.

Thanks for dropping by.  Go gentle with those eggs now.  Hugz
