Another Scrap Bites the Dust

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy Leap Day!!!  Button up your coat and button down your hat!!  It's a windy day here in Norway land.  This ole house is rocking and creaking and the cat looked rather alarmed a while ago when nature threw a particularly fine gust in our direction.  I have had this xmas card in the making for a few days and now the end of February is nigh and it's time to get things finished and squeezed into a final few challenges.

I continue to whittle away at Scrap Mountain.  The base card is a super-scrap, some ex-packaging.  I added a layer of grungy dotty designer paper.  The cat!   Well, that one came beautifully stamped and coloured on the outside of an envelope many moons ago.  I have the dies but not the stamps, so I clipped it out and kept it safe for today!!!   I added a die cut santa hat, red and white scraps, and a real little ding-a-ling bell.  The sentiment, Stamplorations die, was cut from the same red scrap I used for the hat and covered with gold glitter glue.  I stumbled across the black piece on my desk.  I think it's a negative cut from a Marianne Design die.  Too pretty to throw away, so I edged it with Candied Apple distress Ox and matted the sentiment on it.

Thanks for dropping by.  Off to beat up some focaccia bread dough.  Nam nam.  Hugz

Seagull Adventure

Hello.  Welcome.  I've made a travel themed card using Crafty Individual stamps.

I started with a slightly ombre card base and stamped the seagull and suitcases from CI Seagull Adventure stamp with black archival.   This was one of the first CI stamps I bought and still one of my favourites.  I think the seagull perched on the suitcases adds a bit of an unexpected element.   He also seems to be keeping an eye on those other birds in the background.  I masked and stamped CI Full Steam Ahead with brown archival ink.  Love this grungy collage background stamp.  I added some orange gel pen colour to Seagull's beak and legs and a bit of weathered wood distress ink to his body.  Then I stamped the sentiment, which is part of CI Bicycle Embrace stamp, with black archival on white card and cut it out.  I says Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.

Oceans of Love

Hello Nomad friends.  Memory Box have the theme of hearts for their February challenge.  I don't have any of their heart dies but when I saw the Sending Oceans of Love sentiment in their Oceanside Typewriter Sentiments stamp set I decided to think outside the box a bit.  I found some curiously patterned paper and paired it a heart embossing folder and some fish!!
A perfect valentine for an Oceanographer.

Hearts in the sea and fish out of water!!!!  I think these oddly combined elements work strangely well together.

I wanted to show the patterned paper sheet I started with.  I got this World Travels pad at The Works.  This is a sheet 30 x 30 printed with 6 distressed map pieces.  Isn't it cool!!

I chose the map bottom right.  I stamped the sending oceans of love sentiment from Memory Box Oceanside Typewriter Sentiments using brown archival ink.  It fitted so perfectly into the space it looks like it is part of the original sheet!!!!  Then I embossed this piece with Do-Crafts Hearts embossing folder, distressed the edges of the sheet and inked them with Frayed Burlap distress ink.

I mounted the distressed panel on a card base made from another sheet from the World Travel paper pad and cut some fish from the same sheet using the die from Memory Box Underwater Scene die set.  Strange, but kinda cool me think.  What say you??

Tall Tales

Hello Nomad friends.  I have a fun card over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today featuring one of Lost Coast Designs new gnomes.  This is Reindeer Gnome and I've paired hem with some repeat stamping for the Monkey See, Monkey Do challenge.  This fun challenge wants to see stamped projects featuring monkeys and/or repeat stamping.  Here's my card.

I've repeat stamped the Carmen's Veranda sentiment using shrink plastic for the second one.  The background is Lost Coast Designs Fruit Pods Background and there's Reindeer Gnome looking gorgeous in those antlers.

I coloured the gnome with Promarkers and glitter glue.  All the other inks are archival.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Golden Fox

Hello Nomad friends.  Much weather have we been having.  Wind and rain and hail and even a little bit of sun, scattered amid the rain and hail.  It has been exciting.  I have retreated to the craft room and made a tag for my nephew's birthday.

Love this cute fox from Papirdesign.  I cut the Papirdesign grey feather PP into a tag shape and backed it with some gold card.  I cut a gold card circle with CC Designs stitched circle die, a scallop circle from Papirdesign Fargefest designer paper, and a smaller scallop circle from Papirdesign Sopptur designer paper using Papirdesign Sirkler, bolgekant die.  I stamped the fox on white card, coloured with Promrkers and fussy cut.  The sticker is from Papirdesigns Du Er Gull set.

I added some fox coloured bobbly wool and done.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Hello.  Welcome.  Internet connection like the weather - unstable.  I've made a fun card with this cute dog from Aall and Create Furry Friends 2.

I made a hot and firey Brusho's on photopaper with gold foil background (Technique).  I cut the backgound with Sizzix Deckle Edge die and cut a heart frame using a Fuzzy Lemon die.  I cut the heart 4 times from scrap card so I could layer up the heart frame.

You can see the foil better in this photo and the raised heart frame.  I stamped the Dog on white card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy cut.  I used a gold base card.

Hello Nomad Friends.  I have a card over on the Colourcraft blog today using Brusho's on patterned paper.  It's a really fun technique and a lovely result so do pop over and check out the details.

I used Leaf Green, Sea Green, Turquoise, Ost Blue, Orange and White Brusho's on Prima patterned paper.  I used Rubber Dance Textured Bird and small heart cluster and sentiment stamp from the Adore Me set.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Hello Nomad Friends.  There's a new challenge over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and it's gonna be such fun!!!  The title is Monkey See, Monkey Do and we want to see your stamped projects that feature a monkey and/or a repeat stamped image.  So dig out your monkeys, or stutter your stamping for a chance to win Lost Coast $$$$$'s.

I must say the team is loving this theme so do pop over and check out the makes.  Here's mine featuring Carmen's Veranda adorable Monkey with Banjo and Lost Coast Designs Party Words.

In case you missed it this is a birthday card!!

I decided I wanted a spring look so smeared Mowed Lawn and Ancient Amber distress OX on my craft mat, spritzed with water and smooched my white card in it.  I dried the ink and then repeated, cos we are all about repeating this fortnight LOL.  I did it again and declared myself happy.

I used Lost Coast Designs Grunge 3" Border off block with Mowed Lawn and Crushed Olive distress ink to randomly stamp bits of the pattern over the inked background.  This is a huge stamp with loads of interesting details.

I took the vertical Happy Birthday words from Lost Coast Designs Party Words set and stamped it repeatedly across my background using grey archival ink.  I also stamped it twice again with black archival.

Using a Stamplorations large rectangle double crazy stitch die I cut the background panel and, with a bit of fiddly cutting, the two side panels.   Everything got edged with Mowed Lawn distress ink.  I stamped Monkey with Banjo, coloured with distress markers and fussy cut.  He needed somewhere to stand, and just to make sure my message made it through, I stamped the horizontal Happy Birthday from the Party Words set on an offcut of my coloured panel and placed it along the bottom of the card.

Thanks for dropping by.  I really hope you feel inspired to dig out your monkey stamps, or do some repeat stamping, and join the fun at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  The linky is open until the end of the month.  See you there.  Hugz

Hip Hippo Ray

Hello.  Welcome.  I was working on an arrangement for this cool hippo and two of the sentiments from Ocean Heart Hobby's 004 stamp set when I came across a fun sketch on the MFT blog.  Perfect!!!

I stamped the two sentiments on a scrap of patterned paper and cut them with Sizzix Postage Stamp dies.  Aren't those fonts cool.  The one on the left says one can never laugh or smile too much and the one on the right says Happy Birthday.  The hippo??  Well, he's not saying much LOL.  I coloured some card with red and yellow Brusho's and then I added some Pink Aztec Paint splatts.  I cut this with the postage stamp dies as well and matted the sentiments.  Hippo was stamped on white card, fussy cut and coloured with distress markers.  I stamped Rubber Dance's Grungy Border using Dandelion archival ink and stood the hippo on it.  A few hearts cut using CC Designs Stitched Heart die and done!!

Bunny Love

Hello Welcome.  I've made a card using Uniko's Somebunny.  Love this floppy eared lagomorpha.

Delving into scrap mountain I found a strip of blue card that I stamped the Happy Birthday on and then embossed with a basket weave embossing folder.  I also found this MME large dot patterned paper.  Since it's the month of love I used a small heart stamp and Bluebird archival ink and stamped a heart in each circle.  I stamped, embossed and fussy cut the rabbit and added him to the card.  Isn't he just adorbs.

Battleaxe The Red

Hello.  Welcome.  The weather has been fierce and I have been playing with my Gnomies!!  Love these new Lost Coast Designs Gnomes.  I was tidying up the desk yesterday and stumbled across a scrap of forgotten xmas paper.  It was only 7cm's wide but there was a lot of red and quite a cool pattern so I decided to pair it with Pompom Gnome.  Love the crazy hat on this little dude.

I stamped Pompom Gnome on a scrap of white card with black archival, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  I've added glitter to his pompom and the bit I left white on his hat.  I had a card base offcut so it's scraps all the way.......   I used the medium stitched rectangle die from Stamplorations to cut the piece of wrapping paper and then added it and gnome to the red card base.  Small, but very very cute.

It's All About The Hat

Hello Nomad friends.  It's been a busy few days so today I was determined to get into the craft room and make something.  I used to hate to think about Christmas before December, then sending handmade cards meant thinking about it a bit sooner.  Then I started finding Christmas card challenges in blogland that encouraged me to make a few cards each month.  Now I am a Christmas card all year sort of girl.  I really liked the colours of 52 Weeks To Christmas January Challenge, and today is the last day, so I figured I'd do something with that first.

Working with non-traditional colours makes you think of non-traditional motifs.  ABC want cats and dogs and there was this Brutus Monroe cat all NBUS on my desk just asking for a die cut santa hat.  I started with an offcut for my card base so this card is about 7 x 12cm.  I added a piece of grey woodgrain card and stamped the cat with Watering Can archival in a smudgy sort of way.  So I restamped the cat on a white scrap and fussy cut.  I found a small Sizzix stamp die set and stamped the foliage corners and the North Pole Air Mail postmark.  I added colour to the leaves and the cats glasses with a green gel pen.  The hat and hearts were die cut from a scrap I found.  I think it was a coffee filter that I painted with green acrylic paint.  It gave a fun texture.  I added some scraps of glitter card and a little glitter glue on the corner plants and done!

Happy New Dog

Hello Nomad Friends.  I've made a card today for a friend of mine.  When her old dog died she said she couldn't handle a puppy at her age so she wasn't going to get another dog.  I couldn't see that lasting and I was right.  She decided to adopt an older dog and happy together they are.  So to celebrate new beginnings and new friends I've made her a card.

I used dies to emboss the background then used Brusho wax resist sticks and Brusho's to colour it. The stamps and dies are all from Paper Smooches, Chubby Chums Dog, Lucky Dog sentiments and Paw Print dies.  For more details on how I made the background hop over to the Colourcraft blog.

Merry Christmas Gnomie

Hello Nomad friends.  OH my!!  Have you seen the new
Gnome stamps at Lost Coast Designs??  I must admit I find myself besotted.  They are just so adorable.  Here's my first card with Profile Gnome and some trees, and a tag, cos the first challenge of the month at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity is Tags.  Join the fun.  Win some gnomes!!  I mean stamps!!  Win some stamps.  Pick the gnomes!!!!!  You know you want to!!!

I was inspired by the 52 Weeks to Christmas colour scheme of green, silver and shades of grey, with Christmas of course.  So I decided to put my gnome in a silver frosty forest looking up at the tag someone left pinned in the trees.   I stamped Lost Coast Designs Trees Background and embossed with silver embossing powder.  Gnome was stamped using grey archival ink, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  I made the tag using a Taylored Expressions tag die and some fussy cutting, stamped the Merry Christmas from Lost Coast Designs Party Words set and glittered it up.  A green star brad and done.  What's Up Gnomie???
