Legs 11

Hello.   Welcome.  Twofers want Body Parts.  How fun is that.

I stumbled across these legs leftover from a previous Curious Corrin project.  MFP want purple, so I coloured the legs with purple sharpies and mounted on a marbled purple base card.  The sentiment is a Unity stamp

Shrinky Dinky Castle

Hello.  Welcome.  This is a recap of my DT post for Rubber Dance Stamps.  I used the newly released Clover Castle stamp and made a brooch.

I was inspired by this months challenge moodboard:

I stamped Clover Castle on white shrink plastic with black Archival ink and coloured with distress inks.

The original and the shrunk version.  Shrinking also intensifies the colours.

I added a layer of glossy accents.  The distress inks bled a little despite being well heated.

Joy Fold Tiger

Hello.  Welcome.  Spring madness continues and my stash remains little used.  We have been having a bit of wild weather today.  Rain, wind, sun, hail, repeat.  So I decided enough was enough and I would try the joy fold card technique which is the MFP challenge this week.   You can find the tutorial HERE

This is the front of my card.  I used various patterned paper and the tiger from MFP Tiger set, stamped, embossed and fussy cut.

Opening the first panel.  I have used some die cut voile stars and some black stickers from Craft Creations.

I have added an extra panel and fold to the dark green element to give me a money/gift card pocket.

I cut the third panel of the dark green element at an angle, glued just the edges to make a pocket and added a panel on the textured paper.  I stamped, embossed and fussy cut the other tiger from the MFP Tiger set, more stars and stickers.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

D is for Dog

Hello.  Welcome.  I was looking at this cute dog stamp earlier and couldn't decide how to incorporate it onto my altered playing cards.  Then whilst I was posting D is for Diamond I had an idea.

I decided to make it look like a slide folder.  I covered my playing card with black card and embossed using Darice Filmstrip embossing folder.  I stamped, embossed, and cut out High Hopes Framed Puppy.  I coloured with sharpies and distress inks.  I added some pink flower brads and a butterfly accent sticker.  The definition is from the OED

D is for Diamond

Hello.  Welcome.  Well another fortnight has wizzed by and I'm playing catch up again at The Craft Barn's Alpha/Dictionary challenge.  The letter that is closing tonight is D and we have to use some pink.

For this challenge I am altering large playing cards.  I used Tando Distorted Harlequin stencil and pink chalk ink over some Do Crafts patterned paper.  I stamped, embossed, fussy cut and water coloured High Hopes Sailor Andy.  The definition is from the OED.

Thanks for dropping by.  I am really missing being in my crafty room.  Hope I can free up some time soon.  Hugz

Listen to the Dog

Hello.  Welcome.  It's been a long time since I have been so absent from my blog and craft room, but spring is here and there are big changes happening in the garden.  I have treated myself to a new greenhouse and am working hard preparing a space.  I am hoping for a year filled with homegrown fruit and veg.  Last year was a washout.  This year will be better.

The House That Stamps Built want dogs.  This cutie from VLVS sprang to mind, so I've gone in shades of brown to match the challenge colours.

I cut my ATC from brown bazzill card.  I used Stamplorations Flutters and Splatters stencil and Ground Espresso distress ink.  I stamped VLVS Dog on book paper and fussy cut.  I stamped the VLVS sentiment with Fossilised Amber distress and clear embossed.  Then I cut it up and arranged it on my ATC.  Finally I went around the edges with black archival.

Thanks for dropping by.  I appreciate your visits and your comments.  Hugz

Birthday Bash

Hello.  Welcome.  April is the crazy birthday month in my life so I am adding another card to the birthday pile.  Keeping this one a bit masculine

I used a sizzix circle die to cut some craft foam and then stamped the green and purple circles on my textured card base.  The colours were a bit intense so I stuck on a vellum layer.  Definitely not invisible glueing but I actually like the effect.  I stamped the sentiment from Rubber Dance Happy Birthday set using brown archival on Prima patterned paper.

One more to get in the post.  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Mr Mojo Says Do That Again

Hello.  Welcome.  Gosh, did you go somewhere???   Mr Mojo says, well, since you got all that stuff out and look at that ink still on that stamp.......   It's the same but different.  I like this.  Like she's walking through a rainbow.......

I did a second generation stamp of Unity's Harmony Girl.  For stamping newbies that basically means I didn't reink my stamp so the impression is much paler.  I wanted her a bit in the background for this version.  Then I stamped the sentiment that comes with her and coloured a kinda rainbow using the colours from the inspiration photo

Thanks for dropping by.  Might go back down to my crafty cave and see if Mr Mojo is still hanging around.......   Hugz

Have You Danced In The Rain

Hello.  Welcome.  Finally I have found some time to craft.  Spring is a busy time here with the garden.  Planting, tidying, watching the flowers bloom.  I take my own advice and remember to take the time to breathe.  So Unity have a photo inspiration challenge and to me it looked like coloured raindrops.

I stamped Harmony Girl with London Fog archival.  Then I watercoloured around her using distress inks and my water brush.  This always has a drop of Windsor and Newton irridecent watercolour mediium mixed in so all the colours glitter.  You may also be able to see a bit of the card texture near the top of the picture.  I tried to use the colours of the inspiration photo.  Maybe I should have bled the colours out more at the edges but trying to keep it CAS..........

Duck About Town and a Winner

Hello.  Welcome.  I am a member of the Things To Alter mixed media group on fb and we had an ATC swap.   This is the one I sent to Katie, and since it's arrived I thought I'd share it here.  I borrowed Katie's photo cos it was better than mine LOL.

I cut my base from some patterned card (Little Yellow Bicycle maybe?) added a piece of lace and a piece of MME stripey patterned card.  I stamped Whimsy Stamps Into The Farm on to kraft card and embossed.  I cut out the little adverts I wanted to use and added some colour.  I stamped Crafty Individuals Jolly Duck on to a piece of kraft paper that was printed with silver stars.  I added some colour to the duck.  I love that the little stars resisted the colour and they seem to be in such perfect places.  I edged with black soot distress ink.

Thanks to everyone who played my little game and for all the lovely comments last month. I put them all together, threw them up in the air and the last one standing was.....

Congrats Dora.  Drop me a message craftynomad at gmail dot com and I'll get the goodies winging their way to you.  Hugz

I Have Stamps

Hello.  Welcome.  At christmas my niece was here.  She loves to colour.  She wanted a colouring book and I didn't have one.  So I got out some stamps.  The delight on her face when I lifted the stamp.  It was magic.  It is magic.  But I had forgotten.  Until I saw the tutorial by Sandy to make your own colouring book.

I cut some 10x10cm pieces of cad and stamped MFP's Tiger, Penny Black's Cat, Crafty Individuals Penguins and Rubber Dance's Rooster in black archival.

Here's my little colouring book held together with a wire.  Great to have on hand for the next visit by the young artist.

G is for Giraffe

Hello.  Welcome.  So where did that two weeks go???   Jane has put up the new dictionary challenge at the Craft Barn and I suddenly realised my G altered playing card was no where to be seen.  So I looked through my box of scraps and found a partly coloured giraffe.  Since I had started to colour it pink I decided to go with that......

I didn't intend to use Giraffe but this little cutie from Flonzcraft was just too endearing

I was playing with the idea of a vellum layer when I came across this Buddha paper from Craft Creations.  It's made up of these beautiful leaf skeletons and allows the playing card back to still be seen.   I quite like this look

Ah yes, well......  I got this feather die out last week to join a challenge with the theme of feathers and it never got used.  So for some reason, and I'm blaming it on the girl next door, I had a vision that a load of pink feathers would look like a pink banana tree.  No comments about continental incompatibilities please

I added the definition from the OED and G is for Giraffe

You Were Born to Shine

Hello.  Welcome.  The Card Chain Challenge March Reveal went live yesterday so I thought I'd share the Card I sent to Agata in Switzerland.  This is an international card exchange where you make a card and send it to the person above you in the chain.  You get a card from the person below you in the chain.  This exchange is run by the delightful Deborah and has just passed a milestone.  Over 2000 cards have now been made, sent and received by the CCC ladies over the years!!  Now that's impressive.

This is the card I made.  I used Prima doll Zoe.  She comes with her own dies.  I paper pieced her from scraps.  The gold is shimmer paper from Craft Creation.  Very cool but a challenge for the photographer.   I used a triangle of MME pp and stamped the Crafty Individuals sentiment
Friendship cannot be measured,
only treasured

Do drop over and view the reveal.  So many lovely cards exchanged this month.
If you would like to join the fun you can sign up for April HERE.  Be quick, the linky closes in a few days.
