Cute Little Fox

Hello Nomad friends.  I've made a mini slimline scallop top card.  Squuueeeee!   Too cute.  What a fun size it is.  And how cute is that fox???!!!

I cut and folded a piece of cream bazzill dots card and cut a piece of Papirdesign Tur i Skogen patterned paper and cut the top of both card and panel with Papirdesign Scallop Circle dies.  Then I cut the stitched panel using one of the dies from Papirdesigns Vipps die  set.  The fox is also Papirdesigns, stamped, coloured with distress inks and fussy cut.   Then I stamped the sentiment, also from the fox set.  It says Hurrah, you have a birthday.  But you knew that, didn't you.

Red Carpet Queen

Hello Nomad friends.  Today is the 5th Wednesday in March and Lost Coast Designs is sponsoring the Mod Squad challenge.  I hope you will play along!  The theme is numbers and I made this card to help inspire you.

I used a green diamond pattern tall and slim card base and stamped the Carmen's Veranda Frozen Internet sentiment on it with black archival ink.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda staircase on some stone coloured card, embossed with black embossing powder and fussy cut.  I coloured the carpet with a red Promarker.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Dark Girl Kitty on white card, coloured her with bright Promarkers, fussy cut and added her to the card and done!

Thanks for visiting.  Join the fun for a chance to win.  There will also be a new theme starting at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity tomorrow, which may be the same as this one LOL, but until close of play today you still have the chance to link up your stamped anythings with hats.   Hope to see you here, there and everywhere.  Hugz

It's Cloudy Baby

Hello Nomad friends.  I love embossing is all it's varied forms.  Heat, dry, faux, all add a wow factor to my art.  I decided to use a small but awesomely beautiful die from Memory Box to make a stylised cloud background with a faux emboss look.

It's been a bit grey here today so maybe that influenced my colour scheme choice, although I do think grey is an underrated colour.  I chose a pearlised slightly textured card base that I knew I would have some scraps for cos I had a whole pack of this once upon a time.....  Eureka!!!  Scraps were cut with the small die from Memory Box Palace Oval Frame die set and arranged in a cloudy manner on the base card.   I also stuck one of the die cuts at the bottom of the card and added a tiny Seasons Greetings silver sticker.  Then I cut and dry embossed Memory Box Frosted Christmas Tree from silver mirror card.  A card that looks much better in the real and I may have to use that background again.......

Leave the Gate Open

Hello Nomad friends.  A couple more cards to brighten a rainy day.

This is a cute 10cm x 10cm for a friend who loves canines and felines.  I used Kort og Godt orange stripe card for the base and added a square of blue corrugated split on the diagonal. The blue card square I blended Tumbled Glass distress ink through Stamplorations Weathered Wood stencil.  The cat and dog are Winnie and Walter stamped and fussy cut.  The sentiment is from Stamplorations Live Love Ride set and I am sure it applies to most animals, not just horses.

This second card used masking and ink blending.  I went with the butterfly challenge colours and Stamplorations Trendy Butterfly stamps.  The sentiment is from Stamplorations Celebrate Artsy set.

Thank You

Hello Nomad friends.   Yesterday I was angry at lots of things that I have no control over.  So I did some gardening, and the simple process of pulling weeds, fingers in the soil, no sounds but birds singing, chickens squawking and rabbits discussing the attributes of carrots helped bring me some peace.  Today it's raining so I have been making things and I've used some sequins gifted from a friend.  That got me thinking about online friendships and you.

Yes, you!

I started my blog in October 2012, mostly to join challenges.  I was actually surprized how fast people found me and started leaving nice comments.  Most people in blogland leave nice comments.  Since then I've joined many many challenges, a few design teams, an international card exchange, that I now help to run, and started the Let's Squash It! embossing folder challenge with my best crafting buddy Jo.  And in all this time I have made many many true, loving and supportive friends.  I have touched hearts, minds and inspiration with many beautiful souls around the world.  And when ET gets around to leaving a comment I am sure we will get along famously.  So, since April is my birthday month, I have decided to give away some of the cards I am making.  If you would like me to send you a card just leave a comment on any post between now and the one I plan to do on the 22nd April.   I will random draw names from all the comments made between this post and that one.

But first.....This.......

I've made three Artist Trading Cards.  I cut my ATC's from Kilimanjaro (pale sky blue) card and embossed them using That Special Touch Of - Butterfly stencil.  I smeared the raised texture with Bundled Sage distress ink.  I liked the 'Knot' theme Mrs A had for the Butterfly challenge so I used some brown twine, tied three different types of knots and added them to the ATC's.  I stamped the sentiments from Stamplorations Woodland Friends set.  Then I added a few super sparkly sequins I got from my friend Dee, all the way from Kenya!!  Thanks Dee.

OK, thanks for reading my wordy post, or maybe just looking at the pictures LOL.  If you want a chance to get some happy mail from me then don't forget to leave a comment.  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Birthday Roses

Hello Nomad friends.  I've made a shaker card.

I used Poppystamps Clever Keyboard to cut the window squares.  The die cuts 9 squares, so I shifted it over to get the extra three.  I backed the windows with a piece of acetate and mounted the panel on foam.  I added blue sequins to the shaker.  The flower is Poppystamps Bonney Stem cut from silver card.  I blended blue ink through the die on the flower heads and added glitter.  The happy birthday is a Lost Coast Designs stamp.

Coffee Fixes Everything

Hello Nomad friends.  Hmmmmmm, coffee!!!!!

I used Kort og Godt patterned card for the base and also cut Stamplorations Coffee Mug from the backside of the same card.  I edged both with brown Promarker.  The girl is Picket Fence Alice, stamped, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  The sentiment is Stamplorations die cut twice from brown and once from yellow card and glued together with a slight offset.

I Love Eggs

Hello Nomad friends.  I'm feeling the Easter vibes so I made an egg shaped card with paint and vellum and Rubber Dance stamps.

I made the background by brayering red, yellow and ochre acrylic paint onto card.  Then I added some red and black smears using an old credit card.  When the paint was dry I cut an egg shape using a die.  All my stamping is black archival on yellow vellum.  I stamped the Vintage Script on some pieces of yellow vellum I cut with a grass die, to give a nice jagged edge.  I stamped the sentiment on another piece of the yellow vellum and ripped the edges.  I stamped the girl from This is Me on yellow vellum and fussy her face.  I used pritstick to glue the vellum pieces to the 'egg'.  I edged the egg with orange Promarker then used a yellow Promarker to colour some lace and stuck that around the edge.  I found an MDF winged key, a daisy and a spikey flower and added them to the card.

I used the same die to cut a card base, setting the fold of my card about 1cm below the top edge of the die.  I glued my card panel to the base and cut a bit off the bottom backside to stop my egg from rolling all over the place.

This was a really fun card to make.
Don't forget to check out the Rubber Dance blog where the team are sharing masses of awesome inspiration every day, and also the Rubber Dance webshop, where there are a selection of stamps on special offer.

Abstract Sky

Hello Nomad friends.  Yesterday I had an Oh! moment when the Rudolf Days challenge popped up in my blog feed.  Bit silly really cos every 25th to end of month is Rudolf Days, but I hadn't really come to grips with the fact that March is rapidly disappearing.  Proof that I am really losing the plot when I dropped over to 52 Weeks To Christmas and saw it was challenge week.  This always happens the last Thursday in the month, but again, Surprize!!!!!  All sypathetic 'Me Too's' will be appreciated so I feel less crazy, or at least less lonely in my madness.  Bwahahhaaahaahaaaaaa!!   So here's a reindeer, sailing through a blue diamond sky surrounded by pink clouds.   Bwahahhaahaahahhaaa!   Ha!!

I used Kort og Godt blue diamond card base edged with Sky Blue Promarker.  I found a scrap of pink paper and ripped it into vaguely triangular shapes and positioned them in an ascetically pleasing manner.  The reindeer is Sixxiz die with matching embossing folder.  I die cut him from a scrap of silver textured wallpaper, embossed with the matching folder and smeared with Prickly Pear archival ink.  If you zoom in he's got amazing fabtabulious texture and glans.  Uh,,,,, shine!!!!  That's the doodie!!   Another few scraps of pink and blue and Papirdesigns God Jul (Merry Christmas) die cut sentiment.

Thanks for dropping by.  Do pop back soon for more of my surreality.  Hugz

Green Leaves

Hello Nomad friends.  Just had to have another go at printing with die cuts.  It's really fun and I'm a CAS girl at heart so this punches all my buttons.

The leaf is from Sizzix Tropical set and I stamped three times with spritzed Evergreen Bough distress ink.  I added the coloured die cut and stamped the sentiment with Mowed Lawn distress ink.

Under a Bunny Moon

Hello Nomad friends.  Art Piaskownica have a frame challenge and they are also celebrating their 12th birthday!!  So I just had to recruit a few hares and join the party.

The frame I had in mind was too big so I decided to make my own from corrugated card.  I stamped Woodware Lino Cut Stargazer stamp using Potting Soil archival ink on kraft card.  Then I stamped it again on my piece of corrugated and cut it out to give me a perfect frame.  An unusual Einstein moment!!!!!!  I edged the frame, inside and out, with Saddle Brown Promarker and smeared it with more of the Potting Soil archival ink.  Then I smeared some VersaMark ink and embossed with Vintage Photo distress embossing powder.

I added some Cheery Lynn barbed wire die cuts, cut from brown card and tinted with more brown Promarker.  I also added a little to the hare's eye.  I stitched three bronze metal leaves to the top left of the frame with brown twine and added a chipboard circle edged with brown Promarker and smeared with Potting Soil archival.  Three MDF running hares and done!!

Not So Simple

Hello Nomad friends.  The month is moving on a pace and I have been meaning to join the CAS Mix It Up challenge where their intriguing theme is Print Making with Die Cuts.  The inspiration is so pretty and it looked like a fun technique so I gave it a go.   The main trick here is finding the right card!!  Card that will take up colour and then release it again!!  So I have some very pretty coloured die cuts, and a few card bases that have suspicious colour smudges on them!!!!   Ah well, a nice panel will take care of those!!!!  But here's a success in my favourite colour!

I used Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet distress inks and spritzing.  Seems this technique works best with strong colours.  The wilted violet was kinda lost in transmission, but blue is such a pretty colour........    I may have got a bit carried away once I mastered the technique so I dipped my die cut a few times printing a bit more of the background each time.  Pretty, and a fun way to colour the die cut.  The sentiment is by Rubber Dance stamped with blue ink.

Coffee In The Woods

Hello Nomad friends.  Rattling through forgotten corners I found a pack of stardream glitter paper.  Ooooh, pretty!

I covered a DL card base with a piece of green and a piece of ice blue stardream glitter paper.  I cut the blue with Stamplorations Stitched Snowy Hills die.  The bear is from The Greeting Farm, stamped, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  Then I looked for some pine trees.  I found this really old Sizzix original die and cut two from green foam scraps and two from fluffy green scraps.  The two small trees were a gift from a friend.  Then I found some bits of green glitter card, cut it with Movers and Shapers distressed pine tree and layered them on the foam trees.  Plenty room top right for a happy/merry/beary/cosy/god and top left for a Xmas/Jul once I decide...........
