Silhouette Horses

Hello Nomad friends.  We have had some wild weather today which has laid the garden flat, picked the fruit and berries and left everything decidedly drowned.  Crafting seemed the thing to do.  I usually check challenges when they are published and sometimes I have ideas!!  And then the month whizzes by and my ideas are still just in my head, or more likely floated away to a remote tropical beach.  Anyway, the Memory Box Challenge of Animal is right up my alley, and I had an idea, which didn't pan out, but I made a card anyway using the horse part of the original idea.

Oooh look, horsies!!  I used the horse from Memory Box Horse and Sleigh die set and cut it four times from four different colour scraps.  I found a thin strip of green shaded paper and cut it with Memory Box Gentle Stitched Landscape dies and edged the two pieces with green ink.  I used a slimline textured card base and smudged the top part with salty ocean distress ink.  I think the rose circle is also an old Memory Box die which I've lost the name of, cut from yellow scraps.  The Happy Birthday chippy sentiment is Memory Box as well.

Cowboy Hat

Hello Nomad friends.  Hope you are having a fun week. Today I am over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity with some classic headgear for the Where's My Hat? Challenge. I've used Carmen's Veranda Rocking Horse and Southwest Town to make a simple anyday cowboy scene.

I started with a kraft card base and stamped Southwest Town with brown ink.  Then I blended Fossilized Amber and Salty Ocean distress oxides to make the sand and the sky.  I stamped Rocking Horse on some light grey card, coloured with distress markers and fussy cut just the horse.  Removing the rocker gives it a whole different look and it looks great paired with the Southwest Town, which is one of my favourite Carmen's Veranda stamps.

I hope you get time to join the Where's My Hat? fun.  We need at least 20 entries to award the prize so tell your friends and add your stamped makes featuring headgear to the linky.

Beautiful Pop Up

Hello Nomad friends.  I'm having fun with some online meetings and Endless Passion are having a 40 day Easter scrap.  They shared this awesome pop up so I had a go and made a confirmation card for a horse enthusiast.

I used some really old Basic Grey papers, a Cheery Lynn doily die and konfirmant die and lovely horse stamps from Kort og Godt.

Ta dah!!!!!   What a pop up.  It's impressive!!
More Basic Grey papers and all the stamps are Kort og Godt

Thanks for dropping by.  I am hoping for a super inspired weekend.  Hugz

Ravishing Reds

Hello Nomad friends.   I seem to be enjoying monotones this december.  Here's a little red on red to brighten the cold season.

I've used Memory Box Hopmeadow Circle, Horse and Sleigh and Valencia Border dies.  The horse is cut from a scrap of red foam and I used other red card scraps for the rest.  The sentiment is a printed chippy from a christmas set that I have had for ages.......

Sea Horse

Hello Nomad friends.  My blog has been a bit quiet this month. A week in the UK and the last week's weather being surprizingly better than forecast, so I carpe diem'd and had some garden time.  I can feel the spring energy rising, and I'm looking around and plants are starting to wake up, but I am sure we are being a bit early, or maybe spring is going to be.  It is southern Norway, and our official last frost day is 17th May, which is a long way away, so I think we shouldn't let the genii out of the bottle just yet.  I will just enjoy these lengthening cool sunny days and the extra energy in the air and in me.  This weekend I am taking part in Papirglede's Scrapathon and also hoping to join in a few challenges before this short month closes.  I've been playing with Poppystamp dies, brusho's and scraps for this card.

Sea green horses are all the rage you know!!

Here's the scraps I used.  A little late picture as you can see I have already cut the 'horse', Poppystamps Whittle Happy Unicorn, and Poppystamps Wavy Heart.  That piece started off pale blue and I coloured it with cobalt, turquoise and sea green brushos with lots of spritzing!!  Also coloured my fingers, the table, part of the floor and one sock!!!!!   Gotta love a messy colour session.

I used the scraps of the scraps to decorate inside as well.  I used a stitch rectangle die and the hearts and Poppystamp Balloon Hearts with the little dangles snipped off.

The sentiment is a Rubber Dance stamp and means thinking of you and I used a copper sharpie to go over the cut and stitch details on the horse and heart.

Neigh If You Are Happy

Hello Nomad friends.  Just wanted to share this card I made for the Paper Roses fb Geometric challenge.  I am a big fan of Paper Roses, it's just a little tricky to get hold of their products here in Norway!  But I have a few dies and a few more in my sights LOL.

Being an Australian company they have some lovely different motivs and I love the silhouette dies.  This is Stockman with Cows Border Die and the lattice is from the Stitched Rectangle Frames set.  I added a copper metal charm from Korthobby as a stylised sun.

A Horse of Course

Hello Nomad friends. Gosh July.  What fun.  Another quick scrappy card.  This one with a cute horse die cut.

I used a brown card base and added a couple of scrap strips top and bottom.  The horse was die cut from a bit of pizza box.  I cut a double tag and stamped a Kort og Godt sentiment on it.  It says 'one must love life to live it and live life to love it'.  Yes!!

Old McSplendid's Farm

Hello Nomad friends.  Stumbled over Scrappegarasjen Mixed Media Inspiration Day.  This is an online meeting tomorrow, but they've already set three challenges today and we have until Sunday evening to play along.  So happy!!  The weather was looking a bit iffy and my Mojo is really flagging in the heat.  I decided I should do a bit outside before it rained, but walking past my craft room I thought of the first challenge - make something in 5 minutes.  Well, it's only 5 minutes.  Isn't it???   Turned out 5 minutes is an extremely short period of time, especially for time unaware slow crafters.

Anyway, this is what I wanted to make in 5 minutes!!!  Told you I am time challenged, in more ways than one!!!!

I watched the video made for the inspiration for this challenge and she gathered all her supplies before starting the clock.  That's handy cos I would have had to restart the clock at least twice already!!!!   I found a scrap of patterned card, a scrap of Bazzill, some Kaiserkraft corrugated tag and The Greeting Farm McSplendid Farm stamps (NBUS)

OK, so there was the stamping on the Bazzill with brown archival ink, the cutting up of the patterned panel and the inking of the edges with brown Promarker, the fussy cutting of the images and sentiments with more Promarker colour and edging and a little white gel pen here and there, the gluing together and the addition of the wool.  I managed to get the pig tag made in under 5 minutes, and also the hen one, another 5 minutes.  The cow and horse took longer, so didn't make the cut, but isn't it a cute set!!!!!   The cow was going to say Hi, but the Hi vanished, so I restamped a Hey, which I thought was more appropriate anyway........

Thanks for dropping by.  I did get out and do some weeding so that was good.  Now I have recharged with a lovely cup of tea and some freshly picked and cooked beans, so I am heading outside again while the sun is still shinning.  See you soon though.  Hugz

Ask The Horse

Hello Nomad friends.

Inspired by Sue's first card I used a mottled pink card base and added a strip of ripped pink mulberry paper.  I cut white card with Stamplorations Double Stitch rectangle die, stamped the horse from Stamplorations Live Love Ride set and edged the panel with pink ink.  I tied some bakers twine an added a glittery heart.

Three Musketeers

Hello.  Welcome.  My friend Elin had a birthday today.  Happy Birthday Elin.  Hope you've had an awesome day.  Here's your card.

Actually, Elin got this in the real this morning and I got a lovely cup of coffee.  Elin makes great coffee.   She also has horses which was a major deciding point when I picked this picture from Kort Og Godt Barn klippark sheet.  Ooh, vintage again!!  I used various printed kraft sheets for my layer and stars.  I used Spellbinders star dies and the Beste Venner (best friends) die is also by Kort og Godt.  This is a new die I haven't used before but I love those little stars and am sure it's going to become a favourite.  Everything got distressed and edged with ink and the leaf printed panel was also cut with Stamplorations Double Stitch Rectangle die.

Cowboy Rock

Hello Nomad friends.  Hope you are managing to keep cool.  It's so toastie I think I might be melting.

I used this cute little Nellie Snellen cowboy, stamped and embossed on gold base card.  I coloured with Promarkers and added some rhinestones, one to his hat, one to his scarf and one to the bridle.  I cut the bottom of the card so it rocks, added glitter to the curved edge and horse's mane and tail.  I stamped and embossed MFT Saddle Up and Celebrate sentiment.  Yee haw!!

Tag Pegasus

Hello.  Welcome.  Sometimes life throws you curves.  Some people get more curves than others.  Mayhaps, an uncommon number.

I stamped and embossed Gorjuss Runaway and coloured with distress inks.  I masked and coloured the background with distress inks.  I used my gold and silver pilot markers to add some splats.

I added some metal charms from Korthobby.  I edged with some cream lace and used the same lace for the hanger.  The sentiment is a Unity stamp.

Never-Before-Used-Schtuff #8 - Part 1

Hello.  Welcome.  This morning, whilst mooching around blogland I saw an acronym that made my mojo sing.  NBUS.  Yes, unexpectedly it's that time again.  Darnell is running her most amazing, most wonderful NBUS challenge.  Not once, not twice but three times.  So, in honour of Darnell, here's a card with much NBUS and also a little coloured pencils on kraft work.  Big hugz Darnell.

The star of the show here is DRS's Cowboy Snowman (NBUS).  Couldn't resist this cool guy, but he's been hanging around neglected and uninked so I stamped and embossed him on kraft card and then coloured with water colour pencils.  Didn't have a white pencil so grabbed the white gel pen and made some snow.

I fussy cut the top part of the image and then cut some patterned kraft paper using Sizzix Stitched Oval die (NBUS).  I used Ground Espresso distress ink to edge the kraft pieces.  I added a piece of washi tape (NBUS) and a piece of twine.  Needed some buttons, and at first I found a reindeer button from Dress It Up.  But he was being very difficult and then I realised it should be horses not reindeer!!  Amazingly I found a pair of horse buttons, also Dress It Up, that fit perfectly.

I stamped the happy birthday sentiment from Rubber Dance and embossed it.  I am loving this.  Thanks to everyone who inspired this card.  I am sure the birthday girl will love it as much as I do.

Thanks for dropping by.  Go dig out your NBUS and join the fun.  Hugz

Q is for Quest

Hello.  Welcome.  I have been working on a second project for the Craft Barn dictionary challenge, where we are playing with the letter Q.  I am altering a pack of giant cards and trying to do two cards for each letter.  I have used a Gorjuss stamp called The Runaway.  I loved this when it first came out and finally bought one.  This is it's first outing.  When I saw it it made me think of her going on a quest, old fashioned style on a dashing charger.

Q is for Quest.   I stamped and embossed The Runaway stamp onto silver metal sheet.  Then I paper pieced the girl.  The definition for quest is from the Oxford English Dictionary.

I wasn't sure about the background.  At first I was going to just stick the horse onto the back of the unaltered blue playing card.  Then I found this sizzix travel words embossing folder and tried it with a matt black background.  Then I remembered this gorgeous holographic scratch paper.  Watch out kids!  Your crazy crafting mummies are going to be raiding your toy box!!  This is the stuff that is pretty colours covered with a black coating you scratch off.  Gives an amazing effect with embossing folders.

Horsing Around

Hello. Welcome.  Posting a clock I altered for a friend.  I enjoyed altering this clock so I thought I'd make another one as a present for Elin.  She has horses.  Actually she has these horses LOL

I used a photograph as my background.  I painted the clock with blue acrylic behind and embossed the gold line around the edge of the clock with gold tinsel embossing powder.  The numbers are from Rubber Dance Pick a Number set, stamped on paper coloured with the same blue acrylic and embossed with the gold tinsel embosssing powder.  It has extra sparkle.  I am pleased to report that you can heat emboss an IKEA plastic clock without melting the clock.  Although it did take a lot of heating and did get quite warm.  I originally intended to do more, but in this case I think less worked very well.

Pony and Art

Hello.  Welcome.  I needed a quick card just to say thank you.  There's actually probably a big demand for these at this time of year.  Or don't people send thank you cards now??  Just a quick email, or tweet, or some other electrronic expression of gratitude.  Call me old fashioned, I am a committed snail mail fan.

I artistically painted my background to create the appearance of the suns rays.  You think??  OK, I admit it.  It's a piece of packing that got a little bit ripped when I removed the sticky stuff and I painted with yellow acrylic.  It seemed perfect as a sunset scene for my die cut Cheery Lynn Fence Rider.  The thanks was stamped using Rubber Dance Alphabet Uno stamps.  I was going to leave the edge of the panel clean, but it wasn't coming together so I got smudgy with the black archival.  It just softens it all up I think.

Rocking Horse Rock

Hello.  Welcome.  I've just had a lovely pasta dinner made by my friend Elin and, whilst waiting for the chocolate cheesecake, I made this card.  Well, you got to exercise a bit to work up an appetite....

I cut my base card in kraft using Cheery Lynn English Tea Party Angel Wing.  Then I cut Cheery Lynn Spring Flower Burst Doily Angel Wing from MME paper.  I stamped, embossed and fussy cut Whipper Snapper Rocking Horse from MME paper and added some colour with promarkers.  I added embelishments cut from Cheery Lynn BAF#1 and green rhinestones.  The little orange border was cut using some decorative scissors.

Happy Mail Day

Hello.  Welcome.  Two pieces of happy mail today.  What a lucky bunny I am.  My CCC card came from Nancy in New York.  Yeah, Nancy, love it.  Thanks and big hugz.  And a delivery of stamps from Flonzcraft.  Ooh goody, NBUS, but not for long LOL.  Couldn't resist inking up this gorgeous horse straight away.

Isn't that a beauty.  I got this stamp as part of the Flonzcraft Horses, Unicorns and Lions large sheet, but I think it is available as a single stamp as well.  I stamped and embossed with black on a Simon Says Stamp Stitched die cut panel.  I have extended the ground a bit either side of the horse.  Then I masked the horse and used a round mask to ink in the sun using distress Barn Door.  I mounted my panel on a white base card.

Two Little Boys

Hello.  Welcome.  With the end of the year a few challenges I followed finished so I have been looking around for some new places to play.  The inspiration photo over at Time Out Challenge caught my eye.  I liked the wood panel with the greeting and the patterned cushions and was inspired to make this card

I cut a panel from wood effect paper using the stitch detail rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp.  I stamped Whipper Snappers Rocking horse on MME patterned paper, embossed with black embossing powder and fussy cut.  I added some WOW white puff embossing powder around the saddle and coloured the mane, tail, saddle and reins with sharpies.  The rockers were coloured with Henna Promarker.  I cut the howdy using sizzix dies from dark wood effect paper.

Wag the Dog

Hello, friends and followers, those who are and those who may be.  Apologies for the time since my last post.  I brought an unexpected hitch-hiker back from England and have spent the last week under the influence of a nasty little virus.  Sunday I would have been happy to have had my head cut off but am relieved now I didn't succumb to that particular impulse since it probably would have further delayed my return to blogland.  So here we are, better, but not 100%, but so many things to do so can't let the nasties keep us down.  Luckily I don't get sick very often, although I think that did make me a particularly pathetic patient.  Best wishes to anyone suffering at the moment from all those nasty little bugs that are doing the rounds.  May we all be fresh and healthy for Christmas.

So I've missed a few challenges I was hoping to play along with but the joy is there are always more.  Today I managed to complete another page of my calendar for The Craft Barn Challenge.  This is getting quite exciting now because next week is the final challenge.  As I am a little bit behind this is my week 9 entry when the theme was teal, rust, white.  Lovely colour combination and it allowed me to use a beach theme that I had been hoping to incorporate.

I inked the pages in a patchy sort of way with a teally shade of blue.  I used Sizzix decorative strip "A day at the beach" for the phrase, chair and parasol.  The beach is some yellow paper that I have embossed with blue snowflakes.  OK, that's a bit strange for my August page but maybe they could be starfish, or sand dollars, or some other exotic crustacean.  This is art, luverly, art.  We hope!  The young Victorian (who incidentally also looks like she has dressed for a cool august visit to the beach) is Crafty Individuals stamp CI-158 stamped in rust ink.  The two images are from CI miniatures book 'People and Places'.   A hint of a tint of blue on the calendar tab and the job is done, although there is a chance I may have to change the parasol colours.  It looks a bit not quite right.  Maybe, maybe........

Entering this for The Craft Barn Calendar Challenge 9 - teal, rust and white

Take care, keep well and watch this space for our next exciting instalment.......

Don't forget to check out the  Art With No Boundaries Ezine  Great projects and tips.
