Lightning Strike

Hello.  Welcome.  I must apologise for my current tardiness.  On Friday evening we had thunder and lightning.  Light up the house and make it tremble type thunder and lightning.   It killed our router and we are without internet and telephone until a new one wings it's way to us.  So please forgive if I am not moderating your lovely comments so quickly.  I do appreciate them all.   I am grateful too my friend for letting me borrow her line to let you know I'm still alive!  Aren't girlfriends great.  Hugz

I was interested in a project I saw at PaperArtsy by Anneke de Clerck.  She made a notebook using a background of patches of colour so I thought I'd give it a go.

I used fresco finish pansy, butternut, pea coat and rose and post it notes to make my patch background.  Must admit at this point I was less than impressed with my efforts.   Ah well, white may cure a thousand ills......

I added some white acrylic using a scraper and then used the edge to add some lines.  A huge improvement one feels

I stamped the tree from EDY06 onto my card base.  Didn't like it.  So I stamped it onto white paper and cut it out.  Much better.  Then I die cut the word family using a sizzix die and added the words by hand.  I saw this saying on some homeware items.

Family - like branches on a tree we all grow in different directions
yet our roots remain as one

I'm joining the fun at

Thanks for your visit.  I hope to have internet again soon and I will be around to see what you are doing.  Hugz

This is lovely, Gail! I was the same as you, I didn't like mine until I added the chalk layer. For me that's the beauty of having the inspiration to follow because otherwise I would have lost faith. It's a great technique,

Haha! You make me laugh - "White will cure a thousand ills". It's a very pretty card and I think you're right that the white does bring out its best features.
