Hello. Welcome. My mini craftathon continues with a vintage style christmas card. I bought a sheet of sepia christmas pictures from Kort og Godt and decided to use one which featured two girls to make a friends christmas card.
Quite pleased with how this turned out. Vintage is a style I find extra challenging....
I started with the picture of the girls and a weetabix cereal box!! The bright colour piece on the bottom is the outside of the packaging and the small dark brown piece is the inside. I thought it was a bit bright to be vintage so I cut a panel with a stitch rectangle die and smeared Picket Fence distress ink on it to tone it down. Later I blended Walnut Stain on the same panel to add more texture, and it was a really cool effect which you can see in the other pictures.
I used a chocolate brown base card and added the recycled inked panel. I distressed the edges of the picture, inked with Old Paper distress ink and then layered it on a scrap of corrugated card that I gave a white acrylic paint wash. I cut Memory Box Tivoli Snowflake twice and Poppystamps Snowflake collage from more of the cereal box and added the two large and three small snowflakes to the card, arranging the larger ones so they went in front and behind the panel with the two friends. I added iridescent glitter glue to the snowflakes and also to the snowball in the girl's hand. To finish I cut Memory Box scripty Merry Christmas from the cereal box card and inked it with Walnut Stain distress ink.
Thanks for dropping by. Hugz

A beautiful vintage style Christmas card. xx
beautiful card!
Beautiful work, Gail. Looks like you can add Vintage to you CAN DO list, Jo x
I almost never do Vintage, but I agree with Jo--it's a style you sure can do! This is gorgeous, Gail! By the way, you need to email Di with your mailing info so she can send you the Playground Grand Holiday Draw prize you won! That was at the top of my list of prizes, but I was lucky to win another great one. Have a great week!
This card looks great. you have captured the shabby chic, vintage look perfectly. I applaud you for using your weetabix box cardboard!
Thanks for taking part in the January Rudolph Days Challenge.
Oh that's really beautiful. And next time i tear a snowflake while taking it out of the die i'll keep it to use in something like this where not all of the "spokes" need to be complete.
Beautiful picture on at lovely card.
