Twas The Night Before Christmas

Hello Nomad friends.  I have been meaning to join the Christmas Kickstart challenge all month so I decided it was time to pull santa out of the chimney and get with it.

I used this really cool Creative Expressions Festive Frames - Twas The Night die set.  Love the emboss detail.  I kept it simple but when I am feeling more fussy I might have a go at paper piecing this one, or colouring it.  I thought that black card was a funny shade!  Against the red it is obviously dark green.  Where be my glasses????   Love Santa's legs hanging out of the chimney.  Is he stuck??  Falling down?  Or going up?   Hope that's not a real fire in the basket there Santa!!!  I just added a piece of green and gold ribbon to the bottom of the card to add some Christmas bling.

Flowers, Butterflies and Sweeties

Hello Nomad friends.  We got invited to a kid's birthday party and I decided to make a little gift bag with some sweet treats inside.

I cut a piece of 4" x 12" patterned card, scored at 5" and 7" and folded it.  I used some fancy scissors to cut the corners.  I used Poppystamps Echo Blossom die to cut the aperture and added a piece of acetate and some more of the same die cuts around the edge.  I cut three Poppystamps Intricate Cut Butterflies from rose gold mirror card, added a happy birthday sentiment and a couple of brads to hold the fruity jelly sweets bag in place.  Nam nam.

Cookie Monster and Gremlins

Hello Nomad friends.   Yesterday's sunshine fled and it's a tad damp and grey here today.  Makes me think bright colours and bling is the way to go.   Taylored Expressions are celebrating their birthday and the TEMakers challenge in the fb group is Lollipop and Cookie Monster colours with a theme of candles, so I went with all in....

I've used Cookie Monster and some pink cardstock for the card base, panel and frame.  I cut the panel with Taylored Expressions Swirls Pierce and Cut Plate and the frame using Taylored Expressions Colour Block Cutting Plate.  In a moment of design genius I stamped Taylored Expressions Another Year Older sentiment on vellum and added it behind the frame.  Then I stamped and die cut the little Taylored Expressions Party Pals and coloured them with pink and blue Promarkers and a little glitter glue for that party sparkle.

Since Simon Says Stamp Wednesday have a matching envelope challenge I went there too, although it's pretty simple envelope art.  I stamped the candle pal and the sentiments with Cookie Monster ink.

Pumpkin Pizza

Hello Nomad friends!  A lovely sunny Saturday here in southern Norway and I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.  There is only a week left to join the Let's Squash It! Cuz 2 Out of Three Ain't Bad.... challenge where we want you to emboss 2/3rds of your card and leave 1/3rd smooth

I went all red and kraft for my inspiration card today and I've used part of Cuttlebug Little Monsters Vegetable embossing folder on my ex-pizza box kraft card panel.

Love those crazy veg and it seemed to go perfectly with this Carmen's Veranda sentiment and this rather straight looking lady Cressida from North Star stamps.  I smeared the deboss side of the folder with Festive Berries distress ink before embossing the top part of the kraft panel.

Your turn!!   Grab those folders and join the fun.  Hope to see you in the linky.

Snowflake Coffee

Hello Nomad friends.  A quick one layer card to share with you this evening using Unity stamps.

Isn't she pretty.   I kept it CAS, my favourite style and stamped the girl with Magenta Blue archival ink, masked and stamped the snowflakes with Sky Blue archival ink.  I think coloured stamping makes for a softer look.  I coloured the girl with distress markers.  Done!

Doggy Treats

Hello Nomad friends.  The other day I had a package delivered to my sister's house.  Unfortunately I forgot to mention it was coming and Brogan the Boston Terrier got there first!   So, this one is for you Brogan.   I used Penny Black Doggy Treat stamp set and lots and lots of paper scraps!!!!   Thanks Brogan........

My desk is a bit of a disaster at the moment so I just stuck my hand in the pile and pulled out a selection.  The thing about doing this is you often get scraps from the same session, so I pulled three sort of triangular pale yellow pieces, a small rectangular piece of patterned paper with an elongated fancy edge, a die cut shape and some small yellow curves that must have been negatives from a die.  I built it all on a blue dot piece of designer paper that had a badly stamped sentiment on the other side.  It went together surprizingly well and the fussy cut dog and happy birthday finished it off.   The big pink square in the top right was giving me some doubts, but I found a paper fussy cut button that fitted perfectly.  An offset brown frame and that's quite cute!

Autumn Queen

Hello Nomad friends.  The weather has certainly changed the last few days since I got back from the UK.  Warm dry days became wet and now a cold wind is blowing away summer and bringing in autumn.  It's decidedly brrrrrrr out there.  It doesn't seem long ago that I was admiring the fresh new greens of spring and now mature dark greens starts to change to orange and brown.  I was inspired to use the colours of fall for my Things With Wings project today along with one of the new mini collage stamps Linda recently added to the shop.

Love these mini collage stamps.  They take all the work out of getting a lovely layered look to your stamping.  This one is called Mini Bug collage and I decided my bug was a bee. I used Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background stamped with yellow, then orange and finally red archival ink to layer up my colours and add some warmth and depth.   I stamped the Mini Bug collage in brown ink and then inked the bee again with black and overstamped for a bit more definition.  I added a little yellow and some glitter glue to the wings and fussy cut.   I stamped Carmen's Veranda Queen of Everything on a scrap of the grid card I was using and put all the layers together, adding a scrap of red card to the top and left hand side of each panel.

I hope you have time to grab some winged thing stamps and join the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge.  Linky closes end of the month.  Don't forget to check out all the awesome inspiration from the team over on the blog.

Little Prince

Hello Nomad friends.  The Marianne Design challenge is make a baby card.  I decided to put my baby in this MD cinderella type coach I found when I was in the UK.  Isn't it cute!!!

I cut the coach from navy card and used a new silver sharpie to colour the wheels and details.  These metallic sharpies are awesome and give excellent coverage.  For the curtains and inside of the coach I paper pieced the die cut.  The baby is cut from a sheet of printed baby motifs.  I used Kort og Godt patterned card for my card base.  It's a grungy grid with those blue dots and I printed the sentiments in place before assembling the card.  I embossed a scrap of blue card with Marianne Designs Ocean View embossing folder for the ground and added the carriage.  A MD acrylic star on the top of the carriage and done!

Stripey Ocean

Hello Nomad friends.  I did a little desert island crafting while I was in the UK.  Searching through the cupboards at my sister's house yielded some pastel colour highlighters, various bits of card and some stickers.  I can do something with that!!!!

The design was inspired by the current Lift Challenge.  I used the highlighters to draw lines in a A6 piece of white card.  I thought wiggly gave more interest than straight lines, or maybe there was tequila!!!  I used the pink highlighter to outline the triangle of white card and then added the dolphin, waves and sentiment stickers.  The dolphins are actually a lovely metallic blue with gold outlines.

That's all folks!!!!

Regal Birthday

Hello Nomad friends.  I have an easy birthday card for you today featuring the lovely Lion from Rubber Dance African Animals.

I started by stamping Lion and the birthday sentiment from Happy Birthday with purple archival ink.  I ripped some paper and used it to mask and blended a purple distress ink border.  I cut with a Stamplorations stitched rectangle die and layered onto a black mat and white card base.  I stamped Lion again on white card with brown archival ink, coloured with distress markers and fussy cut him.  I cut a Korthobby metal charm in half and added it and layered the fussy cut Lion onto the card.

I hope you feel inspired to get out your stamps and create something today.   If you are using Rubber Dance stamps you can join the fun and link up your makes in the Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge.  See you there!!!

One Plus Two Equals One

Hello Nomad friends.  I'm back!!!  Did you miss me???  I was in the UK for family things and I gotta admit, I missed crafting.  And my computer!!!!   Gosh, new appreciation for those of you doing everything on your phones!!   What a challenge!   I did do some desert island crafting (that's what I call it when I am stranded far from my stash) but the photo is on the phone and I am still trying to get it to give it up!!   Maybe that card will pop up soon, cos it was kinda cool, but first.........

It's the 10th of the month so time for a new challenge at Let's Squash It!   Jo has gone a bit mathematical with the challenge Cuz 2 Out of 3 Ain't Bad... and wants to see two thirds of your card embossed and one third clean space.

Don't Panic!!!!!!

I am sure we won't be out with the ruler, so a rough eyeballing of the proportions is perfectly acceptable.  I went with a wide border around an embossed panel, and I might be a bit nearer a clean two fifths! but like I said, no rulers will be used bwahahhaahaahahaa.

Gonna have to NBUS this one cos the sizzix Dandelion Wish 3D folder and the gorgeous Penny Black Furry Smile stamp are both new.  Isn't that folder divine?!!!  I used Docrafts textured gold card for my panel and love the look.  Of course the photography was another challenge I don't feel able to discuss!!  I know you feel my pain, but isn't it gorgeous!!!!   I'd like to thank Penny Black for the new stamp.  I was lucky to win a voucher to the website and they were so awesome to send international.  I love all the goodies that came and I am sure more will be popping up soon.  I'd also like to thank Greta for giving me the heads up cos I was in a bit of a tiz and might have missed it.

It's starting to read like an oscar acceptance speech!!!  A night at the airport after cancelled flights will do that to a brain!!!   Is there a limit to the number of exclamation marks it's polite to use on any one blog post??!!!  Anyway, oh yeah, dandelion wishes embossing folder on textured gold card I had stamped the Penny Black happy birthday on.  Penny Black Furry Smile stamped on white card with black archival, fuzzy cut (that's when I drag the scissors while I cut to keep that nice fuzzy edge) and a little sharpie colour.  Isn't he adorbs!!!!!

OK, screw on your maths head and get Squashy with your folders.  More awesome inspiration over on the Let's Squash It! blog for other ways to keep your third clean so do hop over and check it out.  See you there!!!

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  29 awesome card makers signed up for August and their beautiful cards have whizzed around the planet bring joy and love as they drop into letter/mail boxes.   I also managed to make this one to fit the new Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge of Use At Least Three Stamps.  So if you are doing lots of stamping don't forget to join the fun there.  A real stamp prize sent anywhere in the world.  A bit like our Card Chain Challenge cards!!!!  Here's the card I sent to Tina in Slovenia.

I used yellow card and stamped Lost Coast Designs Fruitpods Background with Dandelion archival ink, inked the edge and mounted it on a white card base.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Crackle Background on bright yellow card with Dandelion archival ink, cut a strip an inch wide, inked the edge and stamped Lost Coast Designs Travel Quotes sentiment

'A journey is best measured

Collaged Collage

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the first of the month and time for a new challenge at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and we want to see you using at least three stamps on your projects.

I used Lost Coast Designs Mini Fish Collage, one in a new series of collage style stamps, Arches and Door Background, Shooting Står Background and words from Misc. Words.

I started by stamping the Arches and Door Background with bluebird archival then stamped over the top and bottom again with midnight blue archival inks.

I stamped the Mini Fish Collage on white card and coloured with distress markers.  Then I fussy cut around parts of the image.

I cut out the door

I positioned the Mini Fish Collage behind the aperture and poked the partially cut elements through to the front.  I stamped the Shooting Star Background, added some distress ink colour, ripped it up and added it either side of the panel.  I mounted the whole thing at an angle on the base card and stamped the words.

Thanks for dropping by.  If you are stamping I hope you join the fun at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  Hugz.
