Wash Away Your Worries

Hello Nomad friends.  10th of the month and time for the new Let's Squash It! challenge.  This month we want you to use any embossing folder, emboss something that isn't paper or card and include that on your card.  I am really looking forward to seeing all the fabulous entries for this challenge.  Jo and I and our fabulous guest have made a few awesome makes to get you started, and don't forget to check out my August Technique Time post cos, coincidentally, I was talking about this very thing!!!!  Anyway, here's my card.

I've used Hunkydory magazine Rope Knot embossing folder and some plastic packaging.  I love the dimension and detail the plastic layer has added to this card.

I started with a blue DL base card and stamped Crafty Individual CI-384 with Bluebird archival ink.

I embossed my plastic packaging with the Rope folder and placed it on the stamped card.  No glue yet!!!! I took a scrap of blue and cut the rope die that comes in the Hunkydory magazine set.  I glued the rope border onto a piece of blue card and cut along the rope to give me the rope diecut as a top edge.  Then I glued this piece to the plastic layer.  I stamped the lighthouse, seagull and sentiment from CI-397 with Manganese archival on pale blue scraps and fussy cut.  I glued these elements onto the plastic packaging and finally I applied glue behind the embellishments and bottom panel and glue the plastic layer to the base card.  I also put a bit of glue along the top edge of the embossed plastic to fix the top of the card.  A little bit of UHU luckily invisible.

Finally I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment an added a little blue and white bakers twine and a metal ice cream charm, the most beachy charm I could find!

Thanks for dropping by.  Hope to see you over at Let's Squash It!  Hugz
