Kissing Mona

Hello Nomad friends.  I am over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today with some final inspiration for our Face On! challenge.  You have until close of play Pacific Standard Time tomorrow, give or take the summer time thingy, to join the fun and share your stamped makes featuring a human face.  I had the desire to do some acrylic block stamping and decided to throw in a little kissing for good luck!!!!

I used Lost Coast Designs Victorian Mona and Pieces of Calligraphy and Carmen's Veranda Nights Into Mornings sentiment stamps.

Hop over to the blog for all the details.

Fruit and Veg Wheek

Hello Nomad friends.  Whilst looking through the Hobby Art stamps yesterday I spotted the Christmas Squeeking stamps.  Who could resist??  And they come with salad!!!!

I stamped the lettuce leaves with green archival ink and water coloured with Mowed Lawn distress all over the base card.  I used Stamplorations Spring Landscape die and cut a scrap of green card which I sponged lightly with Mowed Lawn distress inks.  I stamped the guinea pig and the carrot on some scraps of glossy paper which had alcohol inks in shades of brown, and the melon on a glossy scrap that had alcohol inks in shades of burgundy and green on them.  I fussy cut and arranged them on the card.  The sentiment is a combination of Rubber Dance and Hobby Art stamps.

Christmas Greenthings

Hello Nomad Friends.  Sprouts!  Love em?? Hate em??  Personally I am a sprout fan.  The caterpillars are making a bit of a mess of the sprout leaves in the garden at the moment but hopefully those little green buds of delicious joy will avoid their ministrations.  52 Weeks to Christmas have a swing card challenge, with a tutorial which I used for this card, and since Double D are still on fruit and vegetables, I rolled out the Hobby Art Christmas Greenthings......

I used a white hammered card base and some other scraps for my swing mechanism and panels.  I've coloured the sprouts with Promarkers and cut the panels with Gummiapan Stitched Square dies.  Definitely yummy!!!

Dotty Spotty

Hello Nomad friends.  I seem to have found Mr Mojo again after a bit of an uninspired month.  Love the MFT sketch and Chris Frazer is having a leukaemia awareness challenge which is all about spots, so I included as many as I could on this card.

I used a buff Bazzill Dots base card.  I made a alcohol ink background with spots of caramel and ginger and cut with a stitched circle die.  I used Stamplorations Pierced Circle Background die on some gold card then cut two circles and edged them with ginger Promarker.  I stamped elements from MFT Lovable Leopard set on coloured paper, fussy cut and added them to the design.  The sentiment strip says Happy Birthday and is from a Kort og Godt printed sheet.

Dance So Everyone Is Watching

Hello Nomad friends.  I have some papers in my stash that I call my ugly papers.  They are a bit like really bad, poor quality Hawaiian print shirts.  Anyway, I decided to use one today for my card background and actually it's not too shabby.

Made a slimline card with a gold base and a piece of my patterned paper.  I cut Poppystamps Large Sugarplum Fairy from pink patterned paper and also twice from cream card.  I glued the die cuts together, offsetting the cream ones to give a highlight as well as dimension.  Then I grabbed some pink scraps and used Poppystamps Intricate Cut Butterflies, layering them and leaving the wings of the top butterflies free for extra dimension.

Sweet Rock

Hello Nomad friends.  Memory Box have an interesting challenge - a white focal point.  I do love a challenging challenge.  I also love northern light backgrounds, but haven't really mastered the technique bwahahhaaaahahhaa.  Ah well......

Looks more 'Stick of Rock' than 'Northern Lights' but sorry, I like it.  So, distress ink background and Memory Box Frosted Christmas Tree, Gentle Stitched Landscapes and Merry Christmas Noted Script dies, all cut from white card.
Where's the egg nog?!!

A Trio of My Favourite Things

Hello Nomad friends!  I'm over on the Let's Squash It! blog today with some of my favourite things to inspire for the current not paper, not card challenge.  We want you to use any embossing folder, emboss something that is not paper or card and include that on your card.  I decided to use this beautiful royal blue metal sheet I had and one of my all time favourite folders Sizzix Cirque.

I love embossing metal sheets.  It's gives such a gorgeous crisp and special background.  I decided Cirque gave a suitably spacey looking stage for my little X-cut rocket, which I cut out of a scrap of pale blue metal sheet.  Then I die cut the Stamplorations Happy Birthday, also from scraps.  Blue is my favourite colour and completes my trio of things I love in a very satisfying manner.

Dig out your folders and not paper/card things and get squashing.  The Let's Squash It! linky is open until the end of the month, so you have another week to join the fun.

Oh My!

Hello Nomad friends.  I am getting excited!!!!!!  I have almost used up all of these Tilda clip art pictures.  What an achievement!!!  An empty box!!!!!!  Almost.......

I spent some pleasant moments folding a quarto pocket from pretty patterned paper, this one is Hunkydory, and then added the two Tilda girls.  Oh my!!   Must be me, and my big sister, holding bunnies.  More my thing than hers, but isn't it fun to get together.  I also used a polka dot rosette from the Tilda set to help with the emptying of the box.  Soon, soon......

It's been a funny old day, oh my, Oh my!

Creation and Design

Hello Nomad friends.  I found myself challenged today because the cards I made use preprinted toppers and papers.  I felt guilty, cos it wasn't 'handmade'.  Which reminded me of the time I presented a handmade card and was asked if I'd made the paper/stamps/ink/table I was working on!  So, we buy pretty papers and use them, but unless we change them into something else it is/isn't/might be handmade.   This Hunkydory A4 ephemera pack came with a magazine and they really are so pretty and top quality.  I have already made 2 slimline cards with these, so here's two more, very simple creations which will be bundled into the set, and also a retirement card with more design elements that maybe edge it towards handmade territory???

I trimmed 10cm x 21 off the end of this sheet, which got rid of a summerhouse and left me with a lovely mottled 20 x 21cm piece.  I creased it and folded to get my DL base card and added this lovely silver foiled topper.  That's me!!!  I love my garden.

This one was even simpler!  I just cut off the end piece I didn't want and folded.  Well, why not?  What a pretty note card.  Must admit I did spend much much longer trying to decide what sentiment of embellishment I should add to these, but they don't need anything really.  Just two simple notecards.  Ooh look!  Me again!!  OK, maybe I am not that elegant and my garden is not so well tended, but we can wish........

And since I was playing with this pack..........

This is the A4 printed sheet that made me think retirement and also trifold!!!!

And here it is after i scored it at 10 and 20cm, added a topper, some of the printed waste pieces and a few Stamplorations die cut words.

This is the card front when it's folded.  It fits in a DL envelope.  You know Aloha mean hello, goodbye and a host of other things.........

The inside.  The topper reads
'wherever life plants you bloom with grace'

Hope you enjoyed my creations.  No high ART, but at least some stash was used up in the making.

Merry Mona

Hello Nomad friends.  We are going Face On this fortnight at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity with makes that feature a human face.  You can join the fun until 31st August 23.59 PST so grab your people stamps and link up.  Here's Mona, all ready for her Merry Christmas!

Using black archival ink I stamped Lost Coast Designs Santa Mona, masked her and stamped Lost Coast Designs Bubbles Background.  Inspired by the photo challenge at Christmas Kickstart I decided to leave lots of white and add some pops of colour.  I used red, green and yellow Promarkers to randomly colour clusters of bubbles and Mona's hat and dress.  Then I added glitter glue to the hat rim and pom pom.   To finish I stamped Lost Coast Designs Merry Christmas with green ink, edged the sentiment strip with green ink and added a couple of yellow enamel dots.

If You're Dragon Have a Day at the Beach

Hello Nomad friends.  MFT have a slimline challenge and this month it has been beachy.  On the line for this one, but this idea popped into my head and I decided to sail with it.

I used Sizzix extended cuts A Day At The Beach die.  You remember these?? 5cm wide, 30cm long, perfect for slimline cards.  Don't all rush but I bet there are a few of these you have forgotten about gathering dust in a drawer somewhere........   I used the sentiment and the beach cut from a pizza box for that perfect kraft look.   I stamped MFT Magical Dragons on green paper, added some white gel pen and green Promarker colour, fussy cut and let them play!!!!   OK, run and find those old dies.....  What goes around comes around.

Poe Neon

Hello Nomad friends! I have a bright and beautiful Artist Trading Card over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today for the Neon Challenge.

I started by cutting a red ATC base (3.5" x 2.5").  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Goth Shrine ATC on white card with Cactus Flower archival ink and coloured with Salty Ocean, Twisted Citron, Wild Mustard and Spiced Marmalade distress markers.  I fussy cut the shrine and added it and a tiny strip of white card edged with Cactus Flower ink to the ATC.  Then I did a bit of tricky masking and stamped Carmen's Veranda Nevermore Crow, minus his nevermore, on the shrine.  I used a white gel pen to make his coloured bits white.

Thanks for dropping by.  You still have a couple of days to link up your neon stamped makes for a chance to win.  Hugz
