Happy Rudolf Days

Hello Nomad friends.  I have been trying to catch up with a few challenges, but it's been a nice weekend so we were lumberjacking, and then there's the whole short month thing.  Anyway, I decided I couldn't miss Rudolf Days so here's a red and brown Christmas card using a plaid embossing folder and TH colorize Toys.

As I was assembling all those die cut bits, some of them tiny, I got to thinking it was a great way to use scraps, or is a way to save smaller and smaller scraps???  The God Jul is a Papirdesign die.  The embossing folder came in a magazine.  Gotta love those magazine freebies.

Anisoptera

Hello Nomad friends!  It's time for a little reminder for Let's Squash It! Grasshopper Green challenge.   We want you to use lots of green, include an insect, or any bug of your choice cos we won't be consulting entomologists, and at least one embossing folder of course.  I've used Sheena Douglas Twisted Vines folder and a beautiful dragonfly stamp from Rubber Dance stamps

I embossed mid-green card and smeared the embossed texture with dark green ink.  Then I cut the panel, gave it a self-coloured mount and stuck it on a dark green base card.  I stamped and fussy cut the dragonfly, added some colour with blue and green Promarkers and blitzed it with glitter, cos dragonflies are sparkly.  Maybe a bit over the top with the bling, but it does sparkle LOL.  Sentiment to be decided!

I hope you get some time to grab your embossing folders, your greens and your bugs and join the fun.   There is gorgeous inspiration from the team and in the linky gallery.  You have until the end of the month, which is a short one don't forget!!!  Carpe Diem!

Bearly Time For Coffee

Hello Nomad friends.  A simple little xmas card using my very favourite coffee drinking bear from The Greeting Farm Let It Snow stamp set.

I used a subtly patterned card base, a scrap of white card cut with a stitch hill die and stamped the sentiment from TGF set straight on the card. I stamped the bear, fussy cut him and added a little colour with Promarkers.  Then I masked off the bear's scarf so I could stamp the small heart with red archival ink.

Hope you are having a merry day.

Life and Renewal

Hello Nomad friends.  I was inspired by the CASE at Timeout to make this wedding card.  I've used Poppystamps Holiday Mistletoe die to cut my foliage.   I thought it was appropriate to the theme as it is considered a sign of life and renewal.  I also really like the shape of the leaves.

I cut the mistletoe and the hearts from pink and white scraps and layered them on my linen textured base card.  The Dear Bridal Couple is a Kort og Godt die which I cut from a slightly darker shade of pink.

Red Spot Fever

Hello Nomad friends.  It's pretty, but I must really have lost my sense of something.  The scraps keep getting smaller, and after my Meercat card triumph using tiny dots from heart die cuts you would have thought I'd learnt!  Nope! Did it again!!  Big time!!!   It's like I just can't resist those tiny little red dots!

But they are rather cute aren't they.........  I made a self-closing box using turquoise and red and dies and stamps from Marianne Designs.  All those dots are from the die cut stamped hearts.  Looks like measles bwahaahahhahahahaha.  And just incase you are wondering......

Here's the backside, minus Snoesjes, plus an extra heart and dotty too!!!  All the hearts, and therefore the dots, were cut from red scraps, of which I have lots.

I swept the remaining dots in the bin and I think I deserve a cup of tea......

Getting Better With Age

Hello Nomad friends.   There is a new challenge starting at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today and we are going Steampunk/Vintage.  Or at least I am trying LOL.   Her clothes turned out a bit brighter than I envisioned, but the teddy, that's vintage.  My man had one.  A growler.  And I thought the sentiment could also go well with the vintage theme.  But then, it's a challenge, and it's how you interpret it, and there is plenty real red rubber stamping, so it's good to go.  Do hop over and check out the challenge post cos my teamies have totally nailed it in awesome style!  Awesome!!!

Love her teddy ear ear muffs!  I used Lost Coast Designs Flowers Background, Flagstone Background and Dark Girl Dolly and Carmen's Veranda Never Too Late sentiment.

I stamped Flowers Background with Sky Blue archival ink....

...then over-stamped with Flagstone Background and Sepia archival ink.  The sepia was a bit darker than I thought it was going to be, but moving on........

I folded a card base from some old Authentique patterned card, did some rough stamping using the Flowers Background off block with red ink, and also red ink smears.  Just to make the card base edge a little more exciting LOL.

I splashed some very dilute Tea Dye distress ink on the stamped panel and grunged up the edge with the same ink.  I stamped Dark Girl Dolly, coloured and fussy cut her.  Then I added one of my favourite Carmen's Veranda birthday sentiments.  Done!!

Link up your Steampunk/Vintage style stamped anythings for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  You have until the end of the month, but don't leave it too late, cos I don't know about you but the shortness of February always catches me out!

Take care.  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Think Pink

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy Valentines Day.  I hope you are feeling lots of love today.  I have some last minute inspiration for the Think Pink Challenge at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  The linky closes at 23.59 PST tonight, so you still have time to find your pinks, get stamping and join the fun.  I've made a simple card using Lost Coast Designs Gargoyle and Carmen's Veranda Pants On Fire Sentiment.  And pink, of course...

I used a pink card base and Cactus Flower archival to stamp the Gargoyle.  Then I turned the stamp upside down and stamped it a 1/4" away from the plinth at the bottom of the panel.  I used a cut and dry foam nib to apply some more of the Cactus Flower ink in the gap to extend the height of the plinth.  I added some pink colour to the gargoyle and stamped the Pants On Fire sentiment.  Cut the panel with a stitch die, mount on a raspberry card base and done!

CAS Trio

Hello Nomad friends.  I made a few CAS cards this weekend and I am going to share them here together to save us both some time.

Loving this one.  Maybe not purist CAS, but quite a simple make.  I found this alcohol ink panel on my desk and decided it was too lovely to ignore.  I embossed the bottom edge with Darice Filmstrip embossing folder and added a vintage Kort og Godt fussy cut image and happy birthday sentiment.

Alas, it seems I may need this type of card soon.  I used a steel blue card base and cut a blue panel with Gummiapan heart die that came in the 2021 advent calender.  A heart full of hearts.  Then I added Stamplorations With Sympathy die cut from blue and coral card and slightly offset.

And finally.......   I really like this one too.  I like the colours and the cute little decoupaged kimono.  But I am coming up blank on a sentiment or occasion it will fit sooooooo.......  answers on a postcard my awesome crafty friends.  I am not sure Happy New Clothes is an occasion but maybe.........

Butterfly Collar Card

Hello Nomad friends.  I have had a fun and productive scrappy weekend.  So nice to get a few UFO's finished and hit scrap mountain for extra scrappy satisfaction.  I've been wanting to try Mrs A's Collar Fold.  I just went for it, and then I had to trim my collars a bit cos they ended up going outside the card front, but generally, despite the curious mix of supplies, I think I am happy with this.

I used Butterfly patterned card from Kort og Godt for my card base.   So that's the butterflies sorted.  And the collar fold.  I've added some metal hearts on small foam pads as detail and my Cardinal aspect.  I found this Kort of Godt vintage image which I had already fussy cut.  I coloured the flowers in her hair with a Promarker to give me some Cornflower colour.  The dark blue butterflies at the bottom of the card were stealing her thunder so I added a vellum layer to mute them.  I added a Celedon green layer inside the card and added the thanks die cut to give me more cornflower and  some coral.  Done.  Ah, but I missed the circle!  Say la doo dah......

Twinkle Twinkle Little Snowflake

Hello Nomad friends.   Hope you are having an awesome day.  Here's a sparkly snowflake to bring you cheer.

Smooshed my card through spritzed distress inks to get the background, cut a panel and die cut with Memory Box Starlight Snowflake Collage die.  I found a blue base card and smeared the area that would show through the snowflake with red/blue glitter glue.  Then I used dark blue glitter card and Memory Box Merry Christmas Noted Script die for the sentiment.

Bling!!!

Little Fox

Hello Nomad friends.  Made a little I love you card with this cute little fox from Papirdesigns.

In fact everything is from Papirdesigns; fox stamp, three different designer papers, alphabet stickers and the printed Glad i Deg (love you).  Isn't he adorbs.  I love the three little heart circles.  I used a tiny circle die and cut them from Melisglasur patterned paper.  What a cute little accent they make.

Anyone For Grasshoppers

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 10th of the month so time for the new challenge at Let's Squash It!  This month we have come up with a fun three part recipe and called it Grasshopper Green!  We want you to use lots of green, include an insect and of course use an embossing folder.  Any embossing folder along with your insect and green and you are good to go.  We have lovely inspiration from Jo and our wonderful guest so do hop over and check it out and join the fun.  I used Gemini 3D Butterfly Effect embossing folder.

These 3D folders are quite fat and I found leaving one of the cutting plates out from my Bigshot sandwich worked perfectly.  I used a piece of designer paper from Kort og Godt that has a fine green grid printed on it.  I smeared my folder with green distress ink before embossing and gave it a gentle spritz with water after to soften the colour a little.  I decided that when your embossing folder is as pretty as this one then it doesn't need much more, so I just added a Stamplorations die cut thanks using some blue and coral card I had on my desk from last night and mounted the panel on a green base card.

Thanks for dropping by.  You have until the end of the month to join the fun at Let's Squash It! and Jo and I will be back with more inspiration later in the month.  I might even try and find a grasshopper LOL.  Hugz.

Wombats Welcome Winter With Wonderfully Waffley Whiskers

Hello Nomad friends.  I made a card today with a curious colour combo inspired by Mrs A's Butterfly challenge.  I was going to use two of the colours but ended up with all four.  I still want to have a go at the collar fold, cos Mr Mojo had an idea, but for today I decided to play with a new to me die from Sizzix.

I used a red card base, a celadon (pale green) panel, a cardinal red layer I cut with the lower layered geo shells die and a cornflower blue layer cut with the upper geo shell die.  I used a piece of coral card and stamped the sentiment from Crafty Individuals 410 set, which has the same name as the sentiment words.

'Wishing you butterfly mornings and wildflower afternoons'

The flower panel is from Crafty Individuals Nature's Beauty miniature image book, layered on another piece of the coral card.  A couple of sticker butterflies and done.

Meerly Cute

Hello Nomad friends.  I was one of Di's lucky winners of the mega Christmas draw at the Snippets Playground and I won a Marianne Designs Meercat die set.  Thanks so much Di.  Perfectly awesome and so so perfect for scraps.  Marianne Designs also have a twofer challenge so I decided to use my new dies and some scraps and make a couple of cards for some occasions that are just over the horizon.

Yeah, Meercat cuteness.  So happy with these.  Although it wasn't til I uploaded the picture that I noticed I'd cut one of the 'meercat mounds' to the panel, and one to the card base.  I was aiming for the same but different so I suppose I have that.

I used gold card bases and the meercat mound is a circle of pizza box I painted with gold Aztec paint and cut in half.  Half each guys and gals.  Found lots of brown scraps for the Meercats.  Some pink and blue for their collars and red for the heart.  OK, scraps excess....... all those little dots came from the heart die cut!!  I think I need scraps anonymous.....

And then there's this.  OMG.  How cute are those baby meercats??  Mothers Day in Norway is the 2nd Sunday in February, so this will be great for the MIL.  Although thinking about it I may need to add another couple of babies cos my man is one of five siblings.  Bwahahahahaahha.  The patterned paper, heart die, acrylic stars and rectangle die are all Marianne Designs.  The Verdens Beste (world's best) is a Kort og Godt die.

Bird Collage

Hello Nomad friends.  I had fun this rainy afternoon playing with lots of bird themed stamps from Rubber Dance and stamped up a collage style card.  Quite pleased how this turned out.  Managed to get everything stamped and masked in the right order for a good result.  Not every day I can say that LOL.  So here's my ode to spring.  Roll on, roll on......

The pink bird is from Rubber Dance Sketchy Birds set, but if you want more details of the stamps and order of stamping pop over to the Rubber Dance blog, cos I used lots of different stamps!!

Explosion of Colour

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge Reveal.  If you don't know, this is an international card exchange that runs ever month, come rain, storm, fire or pandemic.  Yep, we don't even let a pandemic stop us sending love around the world one card at a time.  In fact, since the first cards were sent over 3530 cards have been exchanged!!!!  This month my card went to Gundi in Germany.

I wanted to use the option colours red, green and yellow, and scraps, so I paper pieced my Prima doll and made a brusho background.  It felt a bit empty on the left so I hunted for a border or die cut that would suit and stumbled on loads of goldline stickers.  Pretty gold flower borders and then I had a moment and added loads of red holographic dots to the flower centres.  Actually quite a therapeutic exercise, except when they pinged off and vanished!  Poof!!!  I expect the cat will find them and go around looking very pretty.  Then a little sticker butterfly to finish.

If you would like to join the fun you can SIGN UP for the February exchange.

Do hop over and check out the JANUARY REVEAL cos it's amazing!
