The Way To Oz

Hello.  Welcome.  It's my turn to make a little something for the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge Follow the Yellow Brick Road.  We want to see Oz inspired projects but you don't have to use actual 'Oz' stamps.  Any lions, witches, scarecrows etc will work.  Just explain how you were inspired by the story of Oz.  I used Carmen's Veranda Oz Scarecrow and made a shaving foam 'stormy' background for him.

I followed Wanda's procedure and used Adirondack and Distress ink reinkers to get my colours.  I stamped embossed and fussy cut Carmen's Veranda Oz Scarecrow and coloured him with Promarkers.  The sign was made using another piece of the shaving foam backgrounds, cos once you start you will want to make lots!! and Lost Coast Designs License Plate Alphabet stamps.  There is also a witch and broomstick involved!!  Do hop over to the Portal to check out all the fab Oz inspiration from the team and join the fun for your chance to win some Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda stamps.

Lost Coast Designs is also sponsoring the Allsorts Challenge Autumn Glory this week so that's another chance to win yourself some Lost Coast Designs rubber stamps.

Christmas Socks

Hello.  Welcome.  I made a christmas vintage style ATC.

I used Sizzix Christmas Phrase Card dies and a cute stamp from Panduro and a weetabix box!

I cut my ATC using a piece of the box and embossed it using the word plate die in the Sizzix set.  I used Tea Dye distress ink to highlight the embossing then used another scrap from the box to cut the '25'.  I added a piece of cream lace along the bottom of the ATC and edged it with Walnut Stain distress ink.

I stamped the Panduro mouse on a scrap of white card, coloured with Promarkers, fussy cut and added it to the ATC.

Polar Pack

Hello.  Welcome.  The crazy season approaches apace and quick makes are all the rage.  I decided to make a festive little pillow box using some patterned paper and stamps from The Greeting Farm Let It Snow set.

I scored my A5 piece of patterned paper at 1 and 11 cm, folded it and stuck down the tab.  Then I cut and scored the ends.  I stamped the Polar Bear and sentiment with Versafine Clair Twilight and the snow stamp with DOx Salty Ocean.  I coloured the bear with Promarkers, keeping it all blue.  Then I decided the Polar Bear was a lovely size to make a matching tag, and look, it is!!  I stamped and fussy cut him on a piece of blue pearlescent paper, leaving an extra bit above his head to hang him from.

Bllama

Hello.  Welcome.  About 10 years ago I nearly bought myself an alpaca.  Yes, a real alpaca.  But it never happened, which is probably a good thing.  I would have just paid for someone else to keep it and probably only visited once a year, so where's the fun in that??!  But, many years on, I still love alpacas and llamas and this card was a delight to make.

I am really pleased with how this turned out.  I did some fancy die cutting to get my flowery frame, and I wasn't sure it would work, but it actually came out almost exactly how I saw it in my head!  Way to go Mr Mojo!!

I cut a square of pale blue card.  I used Hero Arts Paper Layering Swirl Flower die and partially cut it into the corners by using a small cutting plate.  This is a two part die.  The flower petals only partially cut and then there is an 'angel wing' die to cut the outline.

Then I used a craft knife to cut between the flower to leave a thin frame.  I lifted the petals and shaped them slightly and coloured with turquoise and dark blue chalk.    Then I forgot to take more step by step photo's..........

I found some flowery lace and coloured it with Tumbled Glass distress ink and added it along the top and bottom inside edge of the frame.  I stamped Hero Arts Word Pops stamp using Salty Ocean DOx on blue card for a bit of tone on tone texture and backed the flower frame.  I cut the flower centers again, layered them up and added some half pearls.  I stamped Hero Arts Llama with dark blue ink, fussy cut and coloured with Stormy Sky distess ink.  This stamp set comes with a die but it leaves a white border that I am not used to, and I like fussy cutting.  I added a small ribbon bow, also coloured with the Tumbled Glass ink.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the llama set and also 29 Again, which is a Rubber Dance stamp, with the dark blue ink and mounted the panel on a steel blue base.

Deer Santa

Hello.  Welcome.  Finally got around to inking up Dylusions Heads and Tails deer stamp and made a christmas tag.

I started with a kraft tag and stamped the deer with black archival and masked.  Then I used Memory Box Modern Sprinkles stencil and Salty Ocean DOx above the deer and Picked Raspberry DOx at the bottom of the tag.  I cut a hat using Sizzix Crazy Things accessories dies from red and white card and added iridescent glitter glue.  I also added it to the pink area.  In the right light it looks like this.......

Bling!!!!!  I used some lovely cream lace for the tag tie and added a wooden button.

I stamped the Rubber Dance sentiment on a piece of patterned tape and embossed with black powder.  That was a fun way to add a sentiment.  I used some white gel pen and Promarkers to add a bit of detail to the deer.

Cock-a-Doodle Hi

Hello.  Welcome.  Today I decided to play with the gorgeous Rubber Dance Rascal Rooster.  I dressed him in autumn colours and kept it CAS.

I stamped Rascal Rooster with black archival on a white card base and used Promarkers to colour him.  Love that Chilli Red for his comb and wattles!!  I stamped the sentiment from Rubber Dance's Norwegian Greetings.  It basically says Hi, in a cute happy sort of way.

The Rubber Dance challenge has moved to the new Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge on facebook.  Hop over and join the fun.  See you there......

When You Ask For a Beehive and Get a Birdnest

Hello.  Welcome.  The season of weird and wonderful approaches.

I stamped the VLVS Wheeley Penguin.  He comes with a wheel but I got him to leaf it at home!!  I masked the bird and stamped the VLVS Screaming Head.  I masked her and gave the background a random wash of Mustard Seed and Ripe Persimmon distress inks.  Then I stamped the ivy leaves with mustard seed, ripe persimmon, black archival and white pigment ink.  I unmasked the woman and bird and coloured them with distress inks, Promarkers and gel pens.

Reinker Bunny

Hello.  Welcome.  Reinkers.  I have a few of these.  Some for matching ink pads, but also a number of random ones that I have bought in sales and recieved in grab bags.  Paperartsy's intro post to their reinker challenge got me thinking so I decided to investigate some of these oddments.

Here's the card I made, keeping it single layer and featuring the cute little Paperbabes bunny.

So, not a clue what I'm doing.... I grabbed two reinkers, put a couple of drops on an acrylic block and spritzed with water.  They didn't really react like I was expecting.  What was I expecting??  Read the labels and it said clean up need special stamp cleaner.  Ah well, maybe not water based then.  Just carry on as they say......  The salmon was translucent and didn't make much of an effect on my natural card base.  The clover was opaque and after smearing it around I declared it an OK grassy bank.

Try some cranberry.  Again dropped on an acrylic block and then I pressed another block on it and then transferred to the card.  That was working, but it dried really quickly on the block.  I added a few drops of water and that got it moving again and I completed my 'sky' to my satisfaction.

I stamped Paperbabes Whimsical Woodland bunny with London Fog archival and stamped the details with black archival.  I used a white gel pen to add some more detail, but didn't think he stood out enough from the background, so when around him with the white as well.  The jury is still out on whether we like or dislike that white outline!!  I stamped some flowers from Crafty Individuals Build a Meadow stamp set and the sentiment from Carabelle Studio's The Lion stamp set with black archival.  Then I used a stencil I got from my friend LaVon many moons ago and gold texture paste to add some shiny stars.  Thanks LaVon.

Three Heads are Better Than One

Hello.  Welcome.  Sometimes you just gotta go with it and have fun!!  The new challenge over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity is Follow The Yellow Brick Road.  We want to see your stamped makes with witches, lions, yellow bricks, houses, flying monkeys, flying houses!! scarecrows, little girls and little dogs etc.  Anything that is inspired by the story of Oz!!

I used the wonderful Carmen's Veranda Oz Scarecrow and then repurposed a few other stamps to make a bit of a scene..........

I've got a very puzzled looking Scarecrow standing on the yellow bricks of Lost Coast Designs Fourth Dimension with a Shooting Star night sky.  Behind him a flying monkey is taking a rest in part of the Emerald City, also known as Lost Coast Designs Large Tigger Shrine.

I started by stamping Lost Coast Designs Large Tigger Shrine on green card and embossing with pine green embossing powder.  I cut out the center of the image.  I also stamped and embossed Lost Coast Designs Oriental Doll and cut out the face.

I stamped Lost Coast Designs Fourth Dimension on yellow card and embossed with yellow embossing powder.

And since I seemed to have a tone on tone thing going on I stamped Shooting Star background on blackberry Bazzill and embossed with black powder.  Camera insisted on making the bazzill look distinctly grey but it is pretty black in the real and looks quite luxurious!!

I used the same green card and powder to stamp Carmen's Veranda Monkey Face, added some green and white gel pen detail to the eyes and stuck him behind the shrine aperture.  I also added the Oriental Doll face to the top of the shrine to represent the big I am Wizard of Oz.

Then I put all the bits together and added Carmen's Veranda Oz Scarecrow, stamped with Potting Soil archival, coloured with a delicious abandonment of Promarkers and distress inks and fussy cut.

Hope you like my Yellow Brick road scene.  Join the fun for your chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  Remember the more players the bigger the prize.  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

More Fun Than Zombies

Hello.  Welcome.  The ATC challenge at Happy Little Stampers is Vintage.  Not a style I really understand.  I always think pale, worn blues and brown with a bit of lace to be on the safe side.  Or wine.  You are always safe with wine.  Or maybe not!!!   So I asked google and it said

' denoting something from the past of high quality,
especially something representing the best of its kind'

Google also mentioned wine..........

Sometimes you just can't argue with an idea........

There you go!!  Blues, browns, old books, a lacy doily thingy and wine!!

I cut my ATC base from a piece of ice lolly box using a Sizzix die.  I used Stamplorations Retro Circle and Swirly Bloom stencils with Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire distress ink respectively.  Then I smeared all around with the opposing ink colour.  I decided I didn't like the gap in the middle so I randomly stenciled in patches.  Sometimes it's fun to be messy!!

I had this happy mail doily on my desk so I smeared it with the two distress inks, folded it in an ascetically pleasing manner and stuck it on the ATC.

I stamped the hippo from Happy Little Stampers Birthday Friends on book paper using black archival ink and the sentiment from the same set on ripped vellum.  I added a little white gel pen to hippo's eye and teeth and some silver confetti champagne flasks and a glass.  It's not fun to drink alone so I gave him three bottles!!!
