Heart Wood

Hello.  Welcome.  CASology's cue word this week is forest.  I was looking at this stamp from Unity that I just got and it made me think of initials carved in trees.  So I decided to concentrate on one tree in the forest.......

This stamp is from Unity Be Different kit.  I stamped it three times to extend the image and embossed with silver powder.  I used an embossing pen to add the side lines to the trunk and embossed them with silver as well.  The heart was silver at this point so I used my embossing pen on the heart and then red embossing powder.  Not exactly the result I was expecting because the silver embossing mobilised as well and has given a distressed sort of appearance to the heart.  But that's OK, cos if you carve a heart on a tree growing in a forest it will probably end up looking a bit distressed.  I thought this might make an unusual Valentines card.

Button Up

Hello.  Welcome.  I have combined the Stamplorations sketch and the tic-tac-toe board at Repeat Impressions to make a fun christmas card.  

I added a panel of snowflake patterned paper on my card base.  I embossed the music stave stamp from Stamplorations Splattery Grunge set with gold powder.  I cut a card topper with Sizzix Postage stamp die and mounted it on a piece of gold glitter paper.  The snowman is Stamplorations large Snowman, coloured with Promarkers and I added three black buttons.

Using the Ugly Papers

Hello.  Welcome.  I have been playing along at the Case the DT challenge at Coffee Loving Cardmakers.  This month there are 8 cards to case and I immediately had a few ideas for different cards.  I thought I'd start with Terri's pretty bright striped cup.  I decided to try stamping on ugly papers.  What's that you say?  Well, we all have papers too pretty to use and occasionally we also end up with some that are too ugly to use!!  I have a few relegated to this category and decide they might be suitable for this project.  And Lo! mayhaps they have become beautiful after all........

The tea cup and sentiment are from Stamplorations Always Tea Time.  I stamped and embossed the cup on my patterned paper and on white card and pieced them together.  I cut a panel from the patterned paper and kraft using a Crafts Too scalloped square die.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment and then embossed the panel with Sizzix spiral dots embossing folder.   The card base is Bazzill.

All The Best Stories Have The Holy Giraffe

I needed a quick new years card.  Giraffe to the rescue.  Have I told you the story of the holy giraffe??

I was actually looking for a corrugated rainbow background when I stumbled across this card with stars paper on it.  OK, that's festive we thinks.  Rubber Dance Giraffe, stamped and embossed twice on orange card.  I gave him an extra head for a bit of extra dimension.  The letters are Sizzix Ida Lou's Flowerbox alpha dies cut from orange glitter card.

Silent Shaker

Hello.  Welcome.  Shaker cards.  I am sure I have shared my disasters in the past yet I still feel required to try again.  Today I solved the problem of leaky shakers, too much fill or not enough.  I have made a shaker with nothing in it!  Genius.  Maybe?

I cut Poppy Flurry Frame die from glitter card and removed the main negative space.  Then I stuck it on a piece of acetate.  I added a blue panel that I cut with the Flurry frame die, to get a matching aperture, and Stamplorations Crazy Double stitch rectangle.  I popped it up on strips of craft foam and added a piece of blue paper embossed with silver stars.  Love the dimension the foam gives and the acetate supports all those snowflakes perfectly.   I think this one definitely looks better in the real.  But it felt a bit unfinished so........

Frosty the Snowman doodle doodle doo doo doo de.........  It's Mr Frosty from Rubber Dance.  Embossed in blue and then semi-fussy semi-die cut.  Cool........

Works Well To A Deadline

Hello.  Welcome.  I just wanted to share a last minute christmas card.  What!  Missed it??!  You don't say!!!  Gosh, where does the time go.   Well, better get a headstart in.  Still lots of challenges that are Christmas all year or finishing off on that theme.  I never really did get into the christmas spirit this year.  Uhhh, I never really did get into the christmas spirit last year Ho Ho OH

It's a cutie cat!!  The image is an Anita's stamp.  I embossed and fussy cut.  I used a pale blue promarker to colour the hat and added some wink of stella clear to the fluffy bits.  Blue is a very traditional colour for santas in Scandanavia.  I cut a circle of blue paper that had pretty silver stars embossed on it and another circle of blue card as a mat.  The card base was stencilled with silver acrylic and Stamplorations Bubble Dance.  Then I cut my square card with an oversize Sizzix circle die and edged the card with silver paint.
