Why Not Both and A Winner

Hello.  Welcome.  Yesterday I made a collage background masterboard and, after stamping even more in portrait, I decided to make some tags. ATC's? Tags?  OK, both......  

Here's a quick picture I snapped on my craft mat of all the bits waiting to go together.  I cut the masterboard using my Sizzix ATC die.  The tags, candy cane, gingerbread man and santa are all elements from Mark's Finest Papers Holiday Tags set

I attached the tags using crystal brads.  The bow on the candy cane is coloured with dark green wink of stella and I added a sparkly mini pom pom to santa's hat

I like that the brads allow you to swivel the tag to expose the fun sentiments underneath.

I cut a panel using Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle die and added brushos.  I stamped and embossed Woohoo from Unity Stamp Co. and coloured with sharpies.

Packed and Wrapped

Hello. Welcome.  It's a lovely warm day, for the time of year, but blowing a gale.  The house is creaking and groaning and getting out the front door is a challenge in itself.  What a lark......  So I decided to hide in my craft room and have a go at collage stamping as suggested by Mark's Finest Paper challenge.  

I started with a grey piece of A4 card and smudged all over with Festive Berries distress ink.  Then I arranged christmas sentiment stamps from Mark's Finest Papers Nutcracker, Holiday Tags and Dear Santa sets on an acrylic block, stamped and embossed with red powder.  I cut up my sheet, at which time I realised I should have had it portrait instead of landscape.  Duh!!  Or I should have thought before I cut.  Double duh!!

So I modified my original idea and made a package.  I mounted my stamped panel on a gold base card.  Then I stamped, embossed and coloured the candy cane from MFP Holiday Tags set.  I stamped the bow on the same gold card, embossed and added it to the candy cane.  I cut two strips of the gold card, about the same width as the stamped bow, inked the edges with black archival and stuck them to the card.  I am hoping this looks like a wrapped package.  

Now since I am a little slow to tidy up I am going to take advantage of all those little stamps on that acrylic block and I am going to make me another sheet of this fun background paper, portrait LOL

Watch Out! Watch Out! There's a Fish Finger About

Hello.  Welcome.  Just a quick post with my original idea for the fish finger sea challenge over at The Craft Barn.  I have to thank my man for helping me with the finger fish.  My drawing was a bit pathetic.  His is exactly how mr mojo saw it in my head.......

One finger, converted to a fish and coloured with distress inks.  I masked and stamped the fish from Dylusions Ocean Backgrounds set.  I coloured the fish with watercolour pencils and gave a blue watercolour wash for the background.

In The Garden Of Captain Birdseye

Hello.  Welcome.  Well now, over at the Craft Barn the weekly challenge is the sea.  Now, last week they were featuring fish fingers and I was all ready for Jane to set that as the challenge.  When she didn't I shared my favourite fish finger joke 

Why don't fish have fingers?

Cos Captain Birdseye took them all.  

Jane obviously liked that one cos she set me a little challenge all my own - fish fingers.  So Jane, in the spirit of rising to the occassion.......

So here we are.  I was inspired by the VLVS inspiration board to use this girl swinging from a lampost with octopus.  Like you do.  And also fences.  Cos it's Captain Birdseye's house he of course has a fishfinger fence.  Yeah, really.  I think these are called fishsticks in the US.  

So I stamped and masked VLVS Swing Set and used brusho's to colour the background.  Then I used distress inks in many colours and partially stamped VLVS Steampunk Warrior to get the tree and the bush.  I used his plumes for the leafy bits and his shoulder armor for the branches.  What fun.  I made my skinny fish fingers using wooden coffee stirrers, sand and orange paint.  The gate is a piece of fishing net with orange glitter glue. I added a seahorse and a starfish to the gateposts.  

I wanted a white edge on this copper base card. I tried sanding, but that wasn't very successful, so I used white embossing powder.  I ripped around the edge of my coloured panel, carefully cutting out the lady's leg so it could go out of the frame.  I really wanted some fish to be swiming around but couldn't find any suitable.  Little metal ones would have been perfect.......

Hen Vs. Lawnmower

Hello.  Welcome.  Happy World Cardmaking Day.  What fun.  An extra excuse to craft.  And in the interests of WCMD I have decided to start the ball rolling with a non-card project!!  Go figure!!!!  But first, cos I know you love the wildlife, I thought I would share a picture of one of my hens having a bad feather day........

Poor thing.  No eggs for me.  Just enough feathers to stuff a pillow every night!  Looks more like a hedgehog than a hen!  It seems a lot of my old girls have decided to do a serious moult this year.  You should see the other end!  

I bought these cute little kraft pillow boxes a little while ago.  They are big enough for a gift card or maybe a delicate scarf, or a bit of jewelry.  Anyway I decided it would be a fun thing to decorate.  I wet the box and ran it through the bigshot with Cheery Lynn's Clocks embossing plate.  Then I smeared Walnut Stain distress ink all over.  

I Walnut Stained the back as well, but look, de-boss!!!  Who'd have guessed!  Actually, maybe this is the embossed side and the other is the debossed side.  Whatever, both decorated in one pass of the bigshot. 

I stamped Phineas Pinchbeck from the Artistic Stamper on a piece of Mudpuddle Bazzill, embossed with cobalt blue powder, soaked it in water, screwed it up and generally abused it, then cut it with Spellbinders Tombstone die.  It was a bit wide so I cut off both sides and added some walnut stain.  I cut two Cheery Lynn Pocket Watches from blue card and added it to the pilow box.  Then I added my distressed tag on top with a bit of twine.  The pocket watches are actually very close in colour to the embossed image but for some reason my camera has made them much brighter!!  Very strange.

Letters to a Friend

Hello.  Welcome.  Lots of exciting happenings in blogland.  Still 12 hours to enter the coffee lovers blog hop.  I will be visiting whoever wins the prize for visiting every link!!  Have you seen?  It's heading for 600 links!!  That's a lot of hopping.  So here's my contribution.  Actually this is my second link, and if you missed the first one it's HERE with a little giveaway, so maybe worth a visit as well LOL.

I based my design on the new Stamplorations sketch.  I kept it purple cos the lovely Becca has got The Hop to Stop happening now and the colour is purple.   So I did all my stamping with Dusty Concord distress ink

The girl holding the coffee cup is Unity's Dream of Being.  The postmark is from Stamplorations Mixed Media Grunge and the script is Stamplorations Mixed Media Elements.  Got it up the right way this time LOL.
