Feathers at the Bottom of the Sea

Hello.  Welcome.  Here today with a reminder for the Rubber Dance challenge this month which is black and white plus one and/or wings/feathers.  The team is making some amazing art this month to inspire you so do hop over to the Rubber Dance blog and check it out.  I decided to go with the colours, using blue as my plus one, and also add some feathers in an unconventional way.

Here's my finished card with one of the whales from Rubber Dance Whale Wishes set.  Can you see the feathers??

I used one of the wing stamps from the new Dreamcatcher set and stamped along the bottom of my card using black archival.  I thought it made pretty cool seaweed, or coral, or some such bottom of the sea type thing.

I stamped, embossed and fussy cut the whale and put him on the card.  I thought it looked pretty good just like that!  But maybe I should make it a bit more under the sea??

I decided to try a versamark resist.  I stamped the large bubbles from the whale set with versamark ink and then I blended distress inks, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire over the top.  And I couldn't see the circles.  Oh well!!  Better get the water brush out and drag a bit of colour down between my seaweeds..... and LO!! the bubbles started to appear!!!  So I blended like a crazy crafter with my water brush, which always contains Windsor and Newton Iridescent Watercolour Medium, which I often don't bother mentioning cos it's a lot of big words to type, and you sometimes even see some of the bling in the picture!

I added the whale, but the sea looked a bit empty so I grabbed the small bubble stamp from the Playful Penguins set and stamped it all around, all around, with Salty Ocean distress ink.  A sentiment from the happy birthday set and whale is all ready to send some birthday greetings.

The Rubber Dance challenge runs until the end of the month. You can use the colours and/or wings/feathers.  Don't forget if you are shopping at Rubber Dance you can get free worldwide shipping with my code GTFreeShip when you spend over €15!

Blending "like a crazy crafter" made this card WHALEY good! And using the feathers as underwater seaweed was a great idea!
