Squashed Love

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 10th of the month and time for a new Let's Squash It! challenge!!!!  We have our December Empress Joanne helping us out with awesome inspiration for our Love and Red theme.  You must use a love themed embossing folder, one with hearts, words of love, cupids.  Does anyone have a cupid embossing folder????  You must also use the colour Red and/or Pink.  Here's a card I made using two Sizzix border folders; Hearts and Forever & Always.

I started by embossing the top and the bottom of a red card panel with the Hearts border embossing folders.  Then I placed the Always & Forever folder in the middle and embossed that.  I know, I should have done the one in the middle first!!  I thought the edges of the words folder might flatten my hearts, but luckily it didn't.  And my positioning isn't bad.  But I will do the middle first next time!!  Or at least second LOL.  I smeared the embossed areas with Cactus Flower pink ink for a tone on tone look.   I actually think this would have been fine as a card, just mount it on a base and done!

I decided to make it a bit more complex by running a piece of lace around the panel and then mounting it on a red card base.  Gives it a bit more dimension and a bit of a vintage feel, but I think I actually prefer it without the lace.  Maybe that's my Clean and Simple side.  What do you think??  With or without??

Grab your love themed folders and join the Let's Squash It! fun.   It doesn't have to be a valentines card.  I think this one would stretch to a wedding.  Or maybe you have a New Baby folder with hearts on it, or words including the word love?  As long as you use an embossing folder with hearts and/or a definite love theme then it's good with us.  And Red/Pink!

Thanks for dropping by.  Hop over to Let's Squash It! to see the amazing inspiration cards from Jo and Joanne and the linky.  See you there.  Hugz

The Night After Christmas

Hello Nomad friends.  My man insisted we went ice fishing today.  I am not converted.  I feel my time would have been better spent in my craft room.  The sun was nice.  Walking on water was novel, if a little intimidating.  It was cold!!!!!!  We didn't get any fish!  Hmmmmm....   But when I got home there was happy mail from the UK and I couldn't wait to play with this fun Santa embossing folder.

I'm sharing a few techniques for embossing folders over at Let's Squash It! today and I decided to include this one on stretching your folders.

I embossed this 10x15cm Father Christmas folder by Craft Stash on a 10 x 20cm piece of card.

Using an embossing tool I extended the lines on the RHS, scoring the ones along the bottom of the wall and the vertical wallpaper lines.  Then I used a black archival ink pad to highlight the embossed lines.  I got some ink on the un-embossed floor so I smeared a few more lines on there to even out the over inking.   Then I coloured with Promarkers and watercoloured with distress inks.

I mounted the embossed coloured panel on a DL base card and added some glitter to Santa's fur trim.

Pirate Talk

Hello Nomad friends.  The month of love and blogland is full of hearts and red.  I was just not feeling it this afternoon but luckily Memory Box are going against the trend and want to see purple.  I have a friend who loves purple so I made her a card.  Arrr harrr, me hearties.......

Wot, no pirate????   Alas!!  He is sailing above whilst we are floating serenely below.   I used Memory Box Underwater Scene die and Oceanside Typewriter Sentiments stamps.  I started with a purple base card and a layer of patterned paper.  I cut the Underwater Scene from lilac card and used various purple Promarkers to colour the seaweed, coral and anemone.  I die cut the little fish that come with this die from a purple metal sheet and added them to the scene.  The two sentiments were stamped on a scrap of lilac card using Thistle archival ink.

I'd like to be under the sea, ta dum ta dee......

Screwed

Hello Nomad friends.  It's been a day.  Not convinced I got my colours right on this, but it looks better in the real.

I used a diamond pattern card panel, stamped Crafty Individuals Bauble into the pattern and embossed with silver powder.  I used a sky blue Promarker to colour the baubles and distressed the panel edge and coloured with cadet blue Promarker.

I took three bottle caps, squashed them a little to reflex the edge and ran various blue Promarkers around the inside rim.  I stamped the smallest stamp from the Bauble set on dark blue card, embossed with silver powder and die cut with a circle die.  i glued the die cut embossed circles into the bottle caps.

I added the bottle caps and three screw brads to the baubles and mounted the panel on a blue card base.

Pink Wheek

Hello Nomad friends.  2nd of the month and time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  26 amazing cards winged their way around the planet last month using at least one of suggested options.  I used the sketch and the colours and a guinea pig.   My card went to Sandra in the Netherlands and I just found out she has a guinea pig!  So that was a good call wasn't it LOL.   She doesn't have a pink and brown guinea pig, until now!!

Wheek!!  I used a designer card card base.  Then I added circles die cut from glitter and gold card.  I used Lawn Fawn Bayou Backdrop pond die to cut a piece of pink card and stamped it with a Stamplorations sentiment.  The guinea pig is a Hobby Art stamp.  I stamped it on brown card, added some strips of ripped pink paper and stamped again.  Then I fussy cut and added some white gel pen details.  Wheek!!!!

Hop over and check out the whole reveal

Your Staggering

Hello Nomad friends.  Happy February.  Gosh, January seemed to just vanish and here we are at the month of love.  The new challenge starting today at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity is Red and Gold.  You can use a little black and white as well, but Red and Gold and real rubber or clear stamping must be the focus of your project for it to have a chance at the randomly drawn prize.   I made a card using a new stamp from the Lost Coast Designs collection, Dark Girl Geisha.

I went with a fun Asian theme, cos it's also the month to celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year.  Did you know a whole fish is supposed to symbolise long life.

I stamped the Bamboo from the Asian set horizontally on a panel of red card using Carnation archival ink and cut the panel with a stitch die.  I stamped the Carmen's Veranda I Need Bail sentiment with black archival.  I stamped Dark Girl Geisha on white card with black archival, on white card and gold embossed and on red card and gold embossed.  Then I did some fussy cutting and pieced her together.  To finish I used red Promarkers to add some extra colour to her dress and boots.

Join the Red and Gold fun for a chance to win and don't forget the team will be sharing awesome inspiration all month.  See you there.  Hugz
