Goodbye June

Hello Nomad friends.  So that was June.  Hope if it's hot where you are that you are keeping cool and hydrated.

I cut a cream panel with Stamplorations Double Stitch rectangle die and mounted it on a dark cream base card.  I stamped Stamplorations large Oriole and added a little Promarker colour.  Then I stamped two sentiments from Stamplorations Chikoo Goes Bananas set.

Thanks for dropping by.  See you in July.......  Hugz

Double Quarto

Hello Nomad friends.  Are you getting bored of my 'favourite fold of the moment'?  Well, I'm not.  A 20 x 20cm piece of patterned paper makes a pretty pentangular card that fits in a 15cm square envelope and it's perfect for a tag, gift card, or even a couple of tea bags.
Thanks for this new obsession Mrs A.
Today I made two!!!!!!

This one is for a friend.  All papers, dies, stamps and flowers from Papirdesigns.

The yellow scallop die cut circle is stamped with Hurrah, you have a birthday, and the blue one hidden behind the tea bags with lucky me to have a friend like you.  Love all those pretty butterflies.  This paper feels so fresh and summery.

Inside I used a couple of butterfly paper offcuts to make some corners and stamped the gift card for dinner at a restaurant.

I also made a Christmas card featuring snowmen.

Same fold and a couple of choco tea bags.

Pretty design with the snowmen on the front and the presents on the back.  I also had a clipart page with this 6 sheet set so I snipped out a snowman and added him to my card.  Fun and easy.

Shabby Sheep

Hello Nomad friends.  The Do-All Kreatives challenge inspired me to dig out this fun animal stamp set from Flonzcraft and stamp some sheeps.

The pun was inspired by a fb challenge that wanted Shabby Chic with ripped paper and lace.  Ohhhhhh!  Chic!!!!  Actually these sheeps aren't too shabby.....   Baaaaaahahaahahaaaaahaaa.  Sorry, someone gave me fizzy wine and I think I may be experiencing a short circuit........ Never did understand shabby chic....
Dark grey base card and everything else is my favourite pale grey woodgrain designer card from Kort og Godt.  Sheeps stamped and fussy cut.  Sentiment panel ripped and mounted on white lace.   Happy Birthday stamp from Lost Coast Designs Party Words set.

Blue Cats and Rocket Rides

Hello Nomad friends.  I've been playing with some new to me dies from Creative Expressions.  I've wanted this Papercuts 3D The Cat's Whiskers die set for a while.  Really fun.  Here they are in blue.....

Mummy cat and baby cat.  So cute.  The small cat has two pieces either side that fold back and slot into the big cat, so it's freestanding, but folds flat to mail.

I also made this rocket card.  I used a dark grey card base and a pale grey panel cut with a stitch rectangle die.  The circles are negative cuts from the Solar Circle Background die and the rocket ship is part of the Industrial Chic Flying Santa die, without Santa, cut from a scrap of grey card.  Great emboss detail on this die and then I smudged with grey archival and used blue and red Promarkers.

Wisteria Summer

Hello Nomad friends.  Today I am sharing a little more inspiration for our current challenge at Let's Squash It!, use a nature themed embossing folder and watercolouring.  Some gorgeous makes in the gallery already, but still plenty time to join the fun.

I used a beautiful 3D folder from Sheena Douglas called Wisteria Wall.   I love the way Sheena tends to combine soft and hard elements together in her designs.  I am not really a flower person, but when I saw the riveted sheet background behind the lovely wisteria I just had to buy it.

I am so pleased how this turned out.  I smeared distress inks on my craft mat, spritzed generously with water, then I used my water brush with added bling to watercolour the embossed design.  The sentiment is a pre-printed strip from a Kort og Godt patterned sheet.  It says Good Friends are Worth Their Weight In Gold.  Too true.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hop over to Let's Squash It! for more details on how I made this card and for more amazing inspiration from Jo and our guest this month Marlena.  We hope you feel like getting squashy and splashy with us.  Linky closes last minute of the month so still plenty of time to sit in the shade and watercolour a masterpiece.  Hugz

Photobomb

Hello Nomad friends.  Time for a new fun challenge at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and we want to see your Inchie Twinchie Backgrounds.  Include stamped Inchies (1"x1") and/or Twinchies (2"x2") on your background.  Stamp, cut it up and rearrange it, like patchwork.  You can use a whole stamped background and cut it up and rearrange it, or stamp on scraps with different stamps and piece it together, or do some fancy masking!  If you want to just add some stamped inchies/twinchies then that's another interpretation so that works for the theme as well, but they should be a prominent part of your design.  Show us your interpretation.  Real rubber or clear stamping and the theme must be the focus of your project.

I went with da Gnomes.......

Smile!  Gnomes make me so happy!  I used Sunglasses Gnome, ZZ-Top Gnome 1 and 2 and Moustache Gnome in the background and in his entirety.  I borrowed the sign from Front Sign Gnome and stamped Smile from Misc. Words.  I used 4 different scraps of shades of purple card and cut them into inchies.  I stamped the 4 gnomes' faces on the inchies, edged them with Promarker and glued them on my card base.  It was going to be 4 x 6", but felt a bit tall for Moustache Gnome so I used the extra pieces for a matching tag.

Join the fun for a chance to win.  See you there.......

One Tree Forest

Hello Nomad friends.  I am very pleased to be a guest over at Scrap the Rainbow today.  I have been playing with the fabulous challenges at Scrap the Rainbow for many years and the design team always inspire with their creations.  This month they want to see pastel colours.  Now there's a challenge!!  I actually prefer brights but, after a few false starts and direction changes this card appeared.

For my card I cut a card base and panel from Kort og Godt patterned card.  I stamped the panel with mixed media style stamps and embossed with blue and silver embossing powder.  I die cut Memory Box Frosted Christmas Tree, dry embossed it and used a brush to blend Wilted Violet distress ink on the embossed areas.  I stamped Paper Nest Doll Red Riding Hood on white card, coloured with distress inks and fussy cut her.

If you are in Norway hop over and join the fun at Scrap the Rainbow.

Stockings or Socks

Hello Nomad friends.  Back in Christmas mode here today with a stocking/sock card.

I stamped and white embossed Unity Stocking Background and then smeared with various blue distress inks.  I cut the panel with Stamplorations Double Crazy Stitch Rectangle die, edged with blue Promarker and added to a navy blue card base.  I stamped PaperArtsy Santa sock sentiment on some blue scraps, chopped it up, edged with blue and added it to the card.

Hobbylager Summer Meeting

Hello Nomad friends.  I'd like to thank Hobbylager for keeping me entertained yesterday and getting me back in the craft room.  I made a few cards and things inspired by their fun challenges.  If you are in Norway they have some great deals that last until midnight today.  They do not send international, but postage within Norway is very reasonable.

I wanted to share this quirky card I made using Art by Marlene Groovy Animals stamps and paper piecing.  The background panel is just a piece of patterned paper.  I have lots of this.  I need to use it more.  The base card was in my stash and had already been stamped with Lost Coast Designs Heart Border.  It wasn't quite straight, which is maybe why I didn't use it, but it worked for this card.  I found a scrap of double sided patterned card which had some folds in it, but big enough bit to stamp the hippo on one side and the parachute and bathers on the other.  Fussy cut, paper piece and fun, fun, fun.......

Hope Springs Eternal

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the 10th of the month and time for a new, fun and sightly soggy challenge over at Let's Squash It!  This month we want you to use a nature themed embossing folder and water colouring.

The folder can be anything as long as it includes something from nature, so birds, butterflies, trees, flowers, fish, shells etc etc etc......   And we want you to use water with your colouring medium.  So make sure you spritz, spray, slash and splosh your colours around.

I used Geminin 3D Butterfly Effect and went grey and grungy

I started by drawing in some of the texture of the embossing folder with my Tripaint colour sticks.  Bought these years ago at a cheap shop in Weston Super Mare.  Then I spritzed with water and embossed some pale grey card.

Quite pleased with that.  Touched up some of the areas by picking colour off the Tripaint sticks with my waterbrush.

I super diluted a tiny tiny amount of black Brusho powder in water and applied it as a wash to the rest of the card.

I used a Sizzix Movers and Shakers Hope die to cut the sentiment.  I distressed the card edges and bled in some grey Promarker and mounted on a dark grey card base.  Butterflies always lift the spirit as the first harbingers of Spring and I always see them as a sign of hope.

Grab your folders and watercolours and get sploshy and squishy with us this month.  See you there.  Hugz

Hello Nomad friends.  I am over on the wonderful Let's Squash It! blog today with a Technique Time post all about using watercolours with your embossing folders.  We want to inspire you to dig out your embossing folders, knock off the dust and make some pretty cards with them.  I'm sharing a few cards and ideas today for colouring with watercolour mediums so hop over and check em out.  Here's one of my cards using Sizzix Rooster Frame and some Tripaint sticks I bought eons ago from one of the cheap shops.

I embossed Kort og Godt pale grey woodgrain card.  Quite pleased with how this cute rooster turned out.

There will be a new challenge starting on the 10th over at Let's Squash It! so check it out and join the fun.

She Is Summer

Hello Nomad friends.  Spring moved seamlessly into summer and toasty the weather is now.  I am feeling the warm vibes and using bright sunny colours with this lovely Picket Fence girl Eiko.

I used a Kort og Godt printed card base and the printed sentiment strip is also from one of their sheets.  I used some yellow vellum behind the sentiment and image panels.  I coloured Eiko with distress markers.

Fly Butterfly

Hello Nomad friends.  I made a quick card tonight using one of Stamplorations Artsy Abstract card fronts that Shery kindly included as a freebie in a recent order.  These are printed on really thick quality matte card and are very pretty.

I simply edged the panel with black ink and added it to a blue card base.  Then I stamped Rubber Dance large butterfly from Butterfly Trio, fussy cut and added it to the card.

Beach In A Box

Hello Nomad friends.  The hot weather is inspiring me to think beach so I got my man to eat some sardines and repurposed the can using stamps from Rubber Dance Take the Plunge stamp set.

I used the tin and the lid to make my fun beach scene, the Take the Plunge stamp set, real pebbles and shells, Emerald Creek Dirty Sand embossing powder and loads of different colouring mediums; distress inks and markers, paint markers, gel pens and sharpies.

Really enjoyed putting this together. Hop over to the Rubber Dance blog for more piccies and a step by step.  Maybe you have a tin that needs a remake????
