Santa Baby

Hello Nomad friends.   The end of the month draws near and I like to join the fun at the 52 Weeks to Christmas challenge when I can.  This month it's Blue Christmas so I made an embossed background and added my favourite Santa baby.

I used a winter scene embossing folder and dark blue card and then smeared it with white ink.  I stamped and fussy cut the baby Santa and coloured him with distress markers and glitter glue.  A preprinted merry Christmas and done!

Say Cheese

Hello Nomad friends.  Today I have a little inspiration for the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Silhouette challenge.

I've made a tag using Lost Coast Designs Mouse 3.  I sat him on top of a 'cheese' which I made by stamping Lost Coast Designs Crackle Background with Dandelion archival ink at an angle on my die cut tag.  I used a marker to make the edges of the stamped image solid and the Happy Birthday is from the Party Words set.

You have until the end of the month  to link up your Silhouette projects for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars!!

Owl Be Caffeinated For Christmas

Hello Nomad friends.  I made a little set of cards using some scraps of Christmas word papers and this cute Unity owl.

I simply stamped Unity's Ray of Sunshine owl on some mottled grey paper scraps, die cut with a square postage die and edged with red promarker.  I added some iridescent glitter glue to the cups, cos you gotta have a bit of bling at Christmas.  The word papers are by sizzix.

Graveyard Rock

Hello Nomad friends!!!  Here's some inspiration for the awesome Let's Squash It! shaped card challenge Don't Be So Square.  Where you all is?????   Grab those shape dies or lob off some corners and join the fun.  I've made a rocking gravestone bwahaahhahhahaaaaaaaa. Ha ha ha........

I used a Spellbinder die for the card base and panel and an oval die to cut the bottom in a curve shape.  I used patterned paper for the panel and embossed with Sizzix Halloween Night embossing folder.  I highlighted the skeleton with white dye ink and the raven with archival black and edged with promarker brown and black.  The cat is Cheery Lynn Whimsical Halloween Cat with some neon paper eyes and a little white gel pen to accentuate the spider.  It rocks!!!!!

Grab your embossing folders and your not square/rectangle cards and join the fun!

Pocket Tea Cup

Hello Nomad friends.  Quite a nice day today weather wise.  I treated myself to a new mint green wheelbarrow.  And I made a card.  I based it on a pocket card Liz shared, but I cut the back panel narrower at the bottom than at the top because didn't want a square card.   For some reason I think it looks a bit like a tulip!!

I used Marianne Designs Woodland Xmas paper PB7044, doily die LR0129 cut from silver card, with the centre piece from blue card, and cup die CR138, also cut from silver paper.  Just enough room in the pocket for a couple of tea bags.

Bunny Leftovers

Hello Nomad friends.  Did you see my previous post with the cute puppy??   As I said, I used most of a gel-print background Jo sent me and there I am, looking at the leftovers, and I figure use em, or add em to scrap mountain.  So I used em!!!   Are you proud of me LOL.

I stamped Unity No Bunny on the remains of the gel print background and fussy cut around the stamped frame.  Da bunny didn't show so well so I stamped him again on white card, coloured with distress markers, fussy cut and stuck him on the oval.  Then I backed it with some kraft card and fussy cut that as well.  I used a Kort og Godt patterned card base with the last bits of the gel-plate background and da bunny in the oval.  I used the same kraft card, OK it used to be a pizza box!, to stamp the sentiment on.  Used a die to cut the sentiment pretty and edged with black marker.

Isn't that bunny adorable??  Well, aren't all bunnies adorable!!!

I have bunnies (7 at last count).  Fluffy, cute, aggressive in the right circumstances, or maybe that would be the wrong circumstances! I love their little woffly noses and the way they chat away to me.  No really, my bunnies are quite talkie in a snuffle, snuffle, hmf, hmf, sort of way.  Lionhead rabbits seem to be particularly chatty......

Cute Puppy

Hello Nomad friends.  I don't know where the time goes.   I haven't been getting much crafting in recently.  Mr Mojo has been restless and easily distracted by outdoors stuff, so I grabbed a few things and took them outdoors today to see if I could get some results.  Of course, after a little time had elapsed it decided to rain!   For a little while it felt like April showers, with light rain backlit by sunshine.  Then it had a moment!   Torrential rain with a few background rumbles of thunder thrown in for dramatic effect, and the area I had been sitting in experienced a small flash flood.  No worries, it dissipated rapidly once the rain stopped, but it was quite an exciting 10 minutes.  You are right, I don't get much excitement in my life LOL.  Anyway, I made a card using most of one of the lovely gel-plate backgrounds Jo sent me.  I have really had fun with these Jo and I'm nearly empty JFYI LOL!

Maybe I should have taken a pic of the background before I chopped it up!!  But alas.......
Kort og Godt patterned card base with a square of the gel-plate background and Unity Hailey's Puppy stamped on a die cut oval.  I tried to curve the sentiment to fit the curve of the oval.  How'd I do??

Good Morning

Hello Nomad friends.  I am over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity today with a quick and simple card for the Silhouette Challenge

I made a simple background using distress ink.  I die cut a circle in a scrap of card to mask for the red/orange sun and then blended a little orange and blues to make the sky.   I stamped Lost Coast Designs Trees Background with black archival and cut the panel with a stitch die.  I edged with black and mounted on a base.  Quick and easy!   Sentiment choice is undecided.  I thought birthday? thanks? hello? sympathy??   A useful card to have....

Lest We Forget

Hello Nomad friends.  Today it was too sunny to be indoors so I grabbed some stamps, card and ink and set myself in a shaded corner and made this

I selected some of my brightest distress inks and various Rubber Dance stamp sets.  I used Mixed Media Marks and the rainbow from Pencil Marks 3 for the background, just randomly stamping with various colours until I thought it looked pretty.  The border is from the Mixed Media Borders set.  I knew I wanted to use the elephant from African Animals, but added a little extra texture to him with one of the Mixed Media Marks set.  Elephants are so majestic and I always think they look like they are doing some serious thinking.  Except baby elephants!   They seem to enjoy being mischievous.  The sentiment is also a Rubber Dance stamp from the Just a Note set.

Hello Whittle Hedgehog

Hello Nomad friends.  Did you miss me LOL.  Gosh, where did that week go???......  Anyway, it's the 10th of the month so time for a new and fun Let's Squash It! challenge!!   This month it's Don't Be So Square and we want you to make a shaped card.  No squares or rectangle, so lob off those corners, use a die, or shape template, and don't forget the embossing folder!!  Here's mine......

I used Spellbinders Label 21 to cut a panel and my base card.   I embossed the panel with sizzix Alpine Flowers and smeared yellow and orange distress ink.  Then I gave it a good spritz with water to smudge my inks.

I added Poppystamps Whittle Papa Hedgehog and Hello cut using Hello Background Plate from coloured scraps.  I used two different colours for the hello and layered them for shadow effect.  Whittle Hedgehog is coloured with promarkers.

I hope you get time to join us and don't forget to hop over and check out Jo and our awesome guest designer's cards.   See you there!!

Blue Jay

Hello Nomad friends, gosh me again!  It's the 2nd of the month so time for another fabtastic Card Chain Challenge reveal.   I actually almost hit a full house for the options this month, missing out on stitching and stretching my circle stamp to cover wheels??  Well, a girl can try LOL.

I've used Lost Coast Designs PMC Circle Frame stamp on the edge.  I masked with a ripped piece of paper and used two different blue archival inks.  The branch and the blue jay were kindly sent to me by Julia in the card she sent me a couple of months ago.  We don't have blue jays here in Norway but I have seen them in the US. So pretty and such a beautiful put together die cut.  Thanks Julia.  I added a couple of red Cheery Lynn die cut butterflies and the fab sentiment is by Crafty Individuals.

Check out the awesome reveal HERE

Never In A Nativity

Hello Nomad friends.  Busy day in my little corner of blogland today.  I'm elfing out over at the new Christmas Kickstart Challenge and the theme is Never in a Nativity.  What a lark!!   So anything Christmas but you can't include anything that has ever, in the whole history of the multiverse, been seen or mentioned in a nativity.  So once I ruled out Mary, Joseph, babies, shepherds, wise men, palm trees, camels, sheep, cows, giraffes, donkeys, stars, angels, gold, frankincense, myrrh, Bethlehem, inn keepers, inn keepers wives etc etc etc. I went with a cat exploding out of a snowman.  Like you do.........

I used CC Designs Grumpy Snowman stamp and hexagonal dies from Daisy Mae.  I embossed the back panel with Do Crafts Cable Knit embossing folder.  Ho Ho HO!!!!!!  I've coloured with distress markers and a little gel pen and then just had to bling it up with a touch of iridescent glitter glue.

Hope you get time to join the Never In A Nativity fun.  See you there.

Colours of the Sun

Hello Nomad friends.  Wow! August!!  It's the 1st of the month so time for a new challenge at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  To kick off the month we want to see your Background In FocusShare your stamped anythings featuring a BACKGROUND STAMP or make a background using real rubber or clear stamps and we want it to be the star of your project. You can add a sentiment, embellishments or an image, but the stamped background must be obvious and very visible!!! Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have a load of very fun and beautiful background stamps.  I used Carmen's Veranda Sun Tiles Background and made a set of cards.

The last few times I have used this stamp I have used shades of yellow, so I thought it might be fun to see what it looks like in different colours.  I've used different shades of archival ink, at least two on each card.

I used Sepia, Potting Soil and a smudge of Watering Can on the first card.
I used Cactus Flower and Monarch Orange on the second one.

I used Cactus Flower and Magenta on the first card.
I used Magenta and Bluebird on the second card.

I used Bluebird and Sepia on the first card.
I used Cactus Flower and Carnation on the second card.

The last two are my favourite.  The Bluebird/Sepia was a bit of a surprize! It came out looking a bit like verdigris and I love it.  If you want to try this my tip is stamp the lighter colour first, then add the darker colour to random place on your stamp and overstamp.  Obviously a stamp platform/positioner will be useful LOL.

I was in two minds (vision of me with two heads bwahaahhah) about sentiments but I decide to just leave them as they are and I will bundle them up as a set of everyday notecards.

Hop over to the blog and check out the awesome inspiration from the team.
Grab your background stamps and join the fun for a chance to win!!
