Hello. Welcome. I am reminded of an evening when my nephew had to do some homework on stereotyping and my sister and I were trying to explain what it is. We resorted to Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman jokes. Can you believe my nephew had never heard any of those! Obviously too low tech. So we googled some. Then in the interests of equal oppotunities we had a look at a few other country stereotypes. Interesting. I think it depends on whether you are on the inside, or on the outside looking in. As a Brit living in a foreign land it's interesting to compare my stereotyping of England to a Norwegian's. So when The Craft Barn set the theme Quintessentially English I settled on the weather. I have learnt that it is not only the English who are obsessed with commentating on the weather. But it is a very English thing to do. Like tea. Quintesssential.
This stamp set came free with a stamping magazine. I stamped the girl, masked her and stamped the umbrella. I coloured with watercolours. I put her in bright spring colours and gave her a rainbow umbrella. I cut around her boots and then used Simon Says Stamp stitch rectangle die to cut the panel. I added the sentiments and mounted on a dark blue card.

I love her bright raincoat and boots! And that umbrella is awesome! So glad you shared this with us at ATCAS!
ReplyDeleteThese freebies always come in handy... Lovely card, very cheerful, despite the weather! You make an interesting point about looking in or looking out. The thing is stereotypes that still hang around are probably outdated as England has changed so much in the last 20 years.
ReplyDeleteThat's true - the stereotyping depends which part of the fence you are sitting on! And the weather is a brill thing to do...love that sentiment. It's so 'usable':) CUTE umbrella, too:):) We always talk about the weather. I guess Aussies have that outdoors, bronzed, laid back stereotype thing.......!!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent.
