The Pirates Have Landed

Hello.  Welcome.  I am pleased to report that Katie's mail box is still standing and her slightly delayed Card Chain Challenge card from me has landed safely.  Regarding the Card Chain Challenge.  I admit, I have been getting a bit sloppy and picking the friends option, which is fine, but Deborah has spent considerable time and brain power putting together all the options for the challenge and I felt I was not doing them justice.  So this month I was really gripped by the idea of the themes - Pirates, In the jungle, Friends.  And while I was at it let's go with the colours, and maybe I can work in the sketch as well.  In my excitement to send it I missed adding the metal charm I was going to use, but overall I was pleased to hit 5 of the options available this month.  OK, ready for this?  Bright warning........

I do love Kadoodles Pirate Dan and he hasn't been out for a while.  So here we are, friendly pirates in the jungle using the colours and the sketch (vaguely!!  Should have remembered the metal charm!!  Or coconuts.  Coconuts would have been great!!!).  The flowers and trees are Sizzix die cuts from the Tropical set.  I ripped a piece of card for my ragged flag banner and used Rubber Dance sentiment stamps.  Pirate Dan is coloured with promarkers, distress ink and gold pilot marker.

You can check out the full reveal HERE.  Well worth a look.  Many awesome cards flew around the planet this month.
If you want to play along the October sign up is open until October 6th.

Frank Says Bwahaahaha

Hello.  Welcome.  Bootastic fun all over and the Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda DT is taking part in the spooktastic 31 Days Of Halloween.  If you don't know, basically this is a month long blog hop with new and exciting Halloweeny projects every day.  This year there are 15 stops, many offering candy, so do hop along and join the fun.  Today it's my turn to provide the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's post and I've gone all Frankly.

I made a 6 x 4 journal card using Carmen's Veranda's Frankenstein and Lost Coast Designs Bubbles Background.  I also used Sizzix Mixed Media and alpha dies.  Full details over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  We also have three challenges running at the moment.  That's right, three chances to win Lost Coast dollars.  So if your stamped creation uses border stamps, animals or is Halloweeny hop on over and link up.  Frank has links to all the challenges over at the Portal.  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

I Predict Rain

Hello.  Welcome.  It's the second of the month and the September Card Chain Challenge reveal has been published.  At this time I would usually be sharing the amazing card that I sent to Cheryl in Georgia.  Unfortunately, due to circumstances, some in our control and some not, I do believe my card is late!!   Sacrilege!!  And big apologies to Cheryl.  I was a tinsy winsy bit late getting it in the post, and it is flying into Hurricane Irma woz here territory, so everything crossed that Cheryl weathered the storm safely and her mailbox is still standing.    So whilst we wait for the mail to fly I have put together a little something for the CASology Fortune challenge.

When I saw the cue card my brain remembered some shaped buttons I got from Dress It Up.  One of them was a glittery crystal ball (NBUS).  So I dug it out and also spotted one shaped like a witch's head (NBUS)!!  Perfect.  Someone to read the fortune.  So I stuck the ball and witch head buttons to the card, used Memory Box Shine stencil and Mustard Seed distress ink to make rays of 'light' and stamped the Sparkle and Sprinkle sentiment.  Despite being the season to spook, it looked a little strange having head of witch just floating in space, so I employed my phenomenal drawing talents to give her a cloak and added a few dashes that suggest the crystal ball is levitating, which is what you expect a crystal ball to do.  Don't you??

Let's Get The Spook On

Hello.  Welcome.  I can wait no longer to share some spooktacular fun.  OK, maybe this guy is too cute to spook!  But he's giving it his best shot.  Meet Franken-Henry.....

I had plans for die cuts and background stamping but at the end of the day this little dude just steals the show without any backing group.  I stamped CC Franken-Henry on a kraft card base and embossed with black powder.  Then I used sharpies for colour, with gold pilot marker bolts and white gelpen t-shirt.  I also added the BOO to his shirt using a black pen.  A splash of Ground Espresso distress ink applied with my water brush for a shadow and he's off and running.

I've already spotted many Halloween themed challenges and the
31 Days Of Halloween is up and running.
The Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda design team is joining the fun again this year, posting something beginning with spook every day this month on the Portal to Creativity.  Hop over and join the fun.

The Birds Have Flown

Hello.  Welcome.  And a great big Hello to October!!!   All is fresh and new as my favourite spooky month begins.  Stay tuned for stuff.  Kicking of the fun with a new colour challenge at Rubber Dance with this quirky little card

I actually wrote a little verse that inspired this, but haven't quite worked out how to ascetically incorporate it.  I started with a grey card base, die cut with a stitched rectangle die.  I smeared Hickory Smoke distress in the middle and stamped the birds from Rubber Dance A Little Birdie set in blue dye ink.  I smeared versamark around two edges and embossed with dark blue embossing powder.  I cut an ATC from light grey card using a sizzix die, stamped Rubber Dance Vintage Aviary in blue and edged with fired brick chalk ink.  I added a layer of blue card under the ATC to make it pop a bit more.  I stamped the word dream from Rubber Dance Affirmations set, embossed with blue powder, coloured the letters red and fussy cut.

Do hop over to the blog for more inspiration from the team and to link up your creation.  Don't forget if you are shopping at Rubber Dance you can get free worldwide shipping with the code GTFreeShip on any order over €15.

Basilodes pepita

Hello.  Welcome.  PaperArtsy have a metallics challenge.  I have tried freehand embossing on metal before without too much success, but, emboldened by Linda's tutorial, I thought I'd have another go.

I cut the moth from a gold metal sheet using a PaperArtsy moth die and added detail using some ball tools.  Then I used Whimsy FaDoodles stamps, that I was lucky to win in a giveaway from Mrs A.  Thanks Mrs A.  These are really cool and a great help for those of us with attention deficit LOL!  Lots of different styles and sizes of lines and then some little cuties to fill in the gaps.  In keeping with the metallic theme I went for gold embossing.  Sentiment by Unity.
