Always Nice to Find a New Reason to Celebrate

Hello Nomad friends.  Last of the month and trying to sneak in under the wire at a few challenges.  I have been enjoying playing along at the Lunar New Year challenge, especially since I love dragons!  This year being Year of the Dragon, dragon birthday cards are one of the allowed themes.  I must admit, my dragon stash has grown!!  Ah well, like I said, I do love dragons.  Then this month there was an option to make cards for the Mid-Autumn Festival.  Totally new one on me, but always like a good celebration, and this one appears to involve the moon and rabbits, so yeah!!

I found this starry paper which I had embossed with sizzix Rays embossing folder.  I used the moon stamp from Hero Arts Autumn Moon set, which possibly was made for the Mid-Autumn Festival with oriental elements and tiny little bunny silhouettes.   I stamped the standing bunny on some green card, fussy cut the top of the bunny and used a Stamplorations stitched hill die to cut the hill.  The bunny faded into the starry sky so I added a vellum fog bank to make him stand out.  We have had plenty fog here recently.

A Little Bit Of Snark Goes a Long Way

Hello Nomad friends.  I've used autumn colours for this snarky card.

I've used a sizzix embossing folder on the background, some scraps of brown card and the leopard is from My Favourite Things.   The sentiment is from Carmen's Veranda.

Mug Hugz

Hello Nomad friends.  Bit dreary here today.  I think autumn has a firm grip.  A good day to craft.  Mr Mojo wasn't so keen, but we did manage this with some pink scraps I had spotted in the patterned scraps bin the other day.

The Unity Girl was already stamped on a scrap of pink, I just needed to fussy cut her and add a little salmon pink to the heart.  Sentiment to be added later if required.

A Flying Monkey Kinda Day

Hello Nomad friends.  I hope you have had a wonderful day.  Mine got a bit hectic and I am thinking maybe my choice of stamps reflect it.  Who let out the flying monkeys??!!  Hold on and hope for flowers.

I know, no one in their right mind would combine these stamps, so we will put it down to left brain creativity.  I've used Carmen's Veranda Flying Monkey Background,  Lost Coast Designs Domino Border, Lost Coast Designs ATC Doodle Flowers, Carmen's Veranda Baby Elephant and Thinking of You from Lost Coast Designs Party Words. Everything was stamped with grey and black ink and I cut the panel with Daisy Mae stitched distressed arch die.  Hang in there Baby!!

Bunch of Koi

Hello Nomad friends.  I was playing with the patterned scraps and decided to try a bit of collage.    Ooh, pretty background.  Add a few fish and done!!!

I picked scraps in shades of green, orange and brown for an autumn feel and then I stamped Hero Arts Koi Bunch on yellow paper, coloured with Promarkers and white gel pen and fussy cut them.  I cut the collage background using a Daisy Mae tag die and added some orange and brown autumnal wool.

Lots more bits in the box.  Might make some more of these backgrounds.

Bearing Bunches of Love

Hello Nomad friends.  Mr Mojo seems to be working well with colours of autumn.  Luckily we are having a bit of late summer, so it's still all in my dreams, but that's OK.  Here's a sweet bear bearing a bunch of autumn leaves and hugs.

I used a green foil card base and cut Poppystamps Brilliant Star Oval and the 'ground' from a piece of slightly grungy designer paper from Basic Grey that is on my desk and I have used in a few projects this week.  Over half way to getting it gone LOL.   I paper pieced the sizzix bear and cut Poppystamps Occhard Leaves from a scrap of MME card.  The sentiment is from Memory Box Oceanside Typewriter Sentiment set stamped on a slightly lighter section of the Basic Grey paper.

Here Be Dragons

Hello Nomad friends.  Any excuse for a cute dragon.  This one is from Sweet November, which is a new company to me.  Isn't she adorable!!!

The background is a piece of orange holographic mirror card embossed with Altenew Banana Leaves embossing folder.  I stamped the dragon on Paperartsy green designer paper and added some promarker dark green highlights and a little white gel pen.  The leaves are from Prima and the sentiment from Memory Box.

Simply Fall

Hello Nomad friends.  Have to love the colours of fall.

Keeping it simple with Memory Box Leafy Tree Frame cut from orange card and I highlighted the embossed leaf detail with distress inks.  I cut the same die again from some orange/brown patterned paper and inlaid the background.  Then I cut three leaves from Poppystamps Orchard Leaves and added them under the tree.

Patchwork Pokey Dog

Hello Nomad friends.  I'm here's some with some inspiration for the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Animal challenge.  Something I love to do is paper piecing.   As a thrifty crafter I take care of my paper scraps and even small pieces are useful when you are only stamping part of the image.  Today I decided to make a paper pieced Pokey Dog.  He's one of the *new* Lost Coast Designs animals stamps and he's such a cutie.

I stamped Carmen's Veranda Staircase with grey ink and gave it a grey and pink watercolour wash.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Happy Birthday and Never To Late sentiments on white card, fussy cut and edged with black ink.

Strong and Silent

Hello Nomad friends.  Gosh, those rainy days do seem to have woken Mr Mojo up.  Maybe it's all the exercise trying to keep his head above all the water LOL.  Anyway, look, it's the gorgeous Harrison, in a shower of leaves.

I used Sizzix Colorize Harrison dies and the leaf paper is by Tonic.  I added a die cut leaf on Harrison's nose and used a scalloped heart die to cut the aperture.

Let's Talk Ammonite

Hello Nomad friends.  We had three days of record heat and then it started raining like Noah had built an ark.  Not enjoying being so wet, especially when wobbling around in the chicken garden where it has become unpleasantly yukky.  We are hoping for it to dry up a little at the weekend.  Of course rainy days gives me a good excuse to repair to the crafty room and play with some goodies.  Funky Fossil want to see NBUS this month so I decided it was time to use this gorgeous Ammonite embossing folder on patterned paper for a fun effect.

I inked the embossing folder with black ink and embossed a very bright piece of Funky Fossil Good Vibes paper.  I stamped the wine bottle sand sentiment from FF Fine Wine stamp set coloured and fussy cut.

Christmas Ian

Hello Nomad friends.  Just playing around today with some ex-food packaging and the Greeting Farm's Santa  Ian

I used flatbread box and ice cream box which both give a lovely kraft card, although the flatbread box is waxed so a little tricky to stamp on.  I used a scrap of gold paper and embossed the whole panel with a cuttlebug snowflake folder.  I stamped Santa Ian on a scrap of white card and coloured with promarkers and glitter glue. The sentiment is from Carmen's Veranda and, as a lover of cake, I think this is very important question.

Desk Diving

Hello Nomad friends.  I have so much stuff on my desk.   For instance an empty ice cream lolly box, because after good ice cream there remains good cardboard LOL.  I decided to cut a panel with a deckle edge die and emboss with Simon Says Stamp firework embossing folder.  Then I grabbed some embossing powder and went a bit crazy.  I inked my panel and added quite a lot of Pearl Gold Sparkle, decided that would be a bit of a challenge for the camera so reinked parts of the panel and used WOW metallic copper sparkle.  Then I filled in the gaps with Topaz Twinkle to give the blue and white/sparkly bits.

Bling!!!!!  I inked the edges of the panel and also the raised firework pattern with potting soil archival ink and offset the panel on a navy card base.  Then I grabbed this MDF dragon, which has also been lurking on my desk for ages, that seemed to fit perfectly with this firey explosion of a background.  I stamped the happy birthday on a scrap of gold card and added it to the card.  Good glue is required to stick paper on all that sparkly embossed texture.

Thanks for dropping by.  Off to find some more desk treasures....  Hugz

TaDa

Hello Nomad friends.  It's the second of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge reveal.  This is an international card exchange.  Make a card, send a card, get a card.  Everyone gets a card, everyone's a winner.  It's also a new month and a new challenge at Lost Coast Designs, so double bubble this Mouse fitted the bill for the Animal challenge, while also seeming to be perfect for this card winging it's way to my very good friend Linda in Michigan.

I went with the options of Music and Friendship and maybe even Funny.  That mouse, named TaDa, makes me laugh.  I added a little Promarker and gel pen colour to him.  I was also aiming for Rocker Card, but due to 'I don't know what' my rocker didn't want to stay upright.  Maybe my card front was too heavy, maybe my curve was wrong, maybe a tap dancing mouse was rocking too much.  So I'm calling this a faux-rocker! Linda, if you want to round off the bottom and see if he can stand up your side of the pond do feel free.  It works in my minds eye LOL.  I know Linda likes singing, so I added some musical notes, and she travels a lot, so this sentiment from Lost Coast Designs Travel Quotes seemed perfect.

'A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles'

Check out the REVEAL for awesome cards from amazing artists.
