Let's Face It

Hello.  Welcome.  The 15th of the month and a reminder for the monthly challenge at Rubber Dance where you can use the colours and or the theme.  The theme this month is Altered Stuff so I decided to do a little upcycling.

Bwahahahahaaa.  I used Rubber Dance Carved Whimsy Wood stamps and loads of gold embossing powder to make this mask.

I started with this paper egg.  Here in Scandanavia easter eggs are made of card and then you fill them with sweeties.  I do miss the chocolate eggs we have in the UK!!!  That seems like such a more sensible solution!  Chocolate egg filled with chocolates!!  Eat the egg and the chocolates!!!!  I seem to have accumulated a number of these paper eggs, and after a discussion of their basic uselessness and waste of the planets resources (cos most people just throw them away!), and my need to alter something, my friend Elin said why don't you make a mask!  She is my muse!!!  Great idea........

So I painted it with a layer of gesso and glued a couple of layers of pieces of ripped tissue paper on it.  Then I found this green spritzed paper.  Recognise that Bibi??  This is a piece of paper Bibi had gift wrapped some of my stamps in when she sent them.  Never throw anything away me!!   Since it's spring and I had had a green man in mind for my mask this was perfect.  So I glued that on as well.

All the stamps I used are from the Carved Whimsy Wood set.  The eyelids are the top of a mushroom, as is the nose!! The lips and a lot of the face details are a little ferny stamp.  The cheeks are the small and large round trees and I also used the large branched tree for some of the hair.  The eyelids and lips were stamped and embossed with gold on tissue paper and coloured with green Promarker before being glued in place.  I did most of the stamping off block, cos of the multi-directional curves, and embossed with gold powder.  I did a bit at a time, working around and filling in any gaps afterwards.  The cheeks and nose didn't stamp so well, so I stamped and embossed on some black paper and stuck them down.

I think it's an improvement over the original and it was a lot of fun to make.

Do hop over to the blog and check out the rest of the inspiration from the team. The Rubber Dance challenge runs until the end of the month. You can use the colours and/or alter something.  Don't forget if you are shopping at Rubber Dance you can get free worldwide shipping with my code GTFreeShip when you spend over €15!

Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Ha ha ... tough decisions - chocolate eggs V eggs filled with sweets. I think I would be greedy and have both!
I love how you have up-cycled this egg Gail. And so very clever of you to use the carved woods stamps.

Awesome! There is a touch of the Viking about this project. You could re-vamp the boxes and then sell the to people who want to put sweets in something that isn't mass produced, Jo x

What a clever idea to make a mask out of a paper Easter egg! Tell your friend she is very smart. I have a few of those around, so maybe I'll make a mask of sorts .... ♥

Tusen takk for at du deltar i grublisen hos Scrappelyst.

P.S. Jeg har ikke hjerte til å kaste påskeegg og tar vare på alle. Noen blir brukt igjen året etter ;-)
