Turning Hope to Ho Ho Ho

Hello.  Welcome.  Frank was promised a real Santa hat if he would just pop up and remind all you lovely people that the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Tip Your Hat event ends tomorrow, midnight, one of those american time zone times.  Well, they have so many!!!!!

I stamped Carmen's Veranda Frankenstein and embossed with black powder.  Then I stamped the first two letters of Carmen's Veranda Zen Hope stamp 3 times and embossed with white powder.  I gave the background a watercolour wash using Festive Berries distress ink.  I cut Taylored Expressions die Party Hat from some snippets from the scraps box.  Ho Ho Ho indeed.  So stamp and leave the hat on and hop on over to the Portal and link up your hatty projects before midnight tomorrow.

Hello.  Welcome.  I missed joining the Happy Little Stampers ATC challenge last month due to incompetence, so I was waiting eagerly to see what the topic was this month.   They have chosen Shapes.  So I decided to start with circles. 

  

Here's the background I started with, chalk inks over a Stamplorations stencil, die cut with my Sizzix ATC die

I stamped the Unity sentiment with VersaMark and embossed with black powder.  Then I decided my ATC needed to look like a Swiss Cheese!!!!

I used a small Sizzix circle die to cut the centers out a number of circles.  Then I backed it with some scrunched up silver foil.  I am so using that idea again.  What yummy texture that is!

Then, in keeping with the time references in the sentiment, I added some vintage metal clock charms.  These are all from Korthobby.no.  I had 4 different clocks.  The two round ones fitted perfectly with my circle shape.  The cuckoo clock was too cute not to use and it's little dangles fitted perfectly into that semi circle cut at the bottom.  Then I added the wristwatch to balance it all up.

Frog Juice

Hello.  Welcome.  Last evening I was trying to do a few things and get a bit ahead, but ended up with lots of starts, none of which I was totally happy with.  So I decided to go and do nothing instead.  Then, this morning, when I looked at my desk, I though hmmmm, maybe that ain't so bad afterall......... 

I'm playing with VLVS stamps and keeping it CAS.  I thought this frog, clutching his bottle of wine, fitted perfectly with the 'Is it wine o'clock yet?' sentiment.  Inside I stamped a partially masked xmas sentiment which now reads 'A merry wish for lots of happiness'.  That seemed perfect.  My man likes wine, so this will work for him.  

Frog and sentiment stamped with black archival and coloured with ink joy and neon pens.  Background a weak stripey wash of Pumice Stone and Stormy Sky distress inks.  Frog panel cut using Sizzix TH double stitched rectangle die.

One Of Our Birds is Missing

Hello.  Welcome.  The House That Stamps Built has a Sympathy challenge.  This is a difficult subject but the DT has produced some lovely inspiration.  I was particularly struck by the fact that they have steered away from the usual neutral colours.  So I decided to use a distress ink background that I had made and Stamplorations For The Birds stamp.  

I swooshed distress inks on my card base and cut it with Stamplorations Double Stitch Rectangle die.  I stamped For the Birds stamp and Unity's With Sympathy sentiment and embossed with black powder.

The Years Fall Away

Hello.  Welcome.  I wanted a tag for a friend who is turning 40 soon and, since we are into Autumn, I decided to use the colours of fall.  I also decided to rattle through my stash of embellishments and see what treasures I could turn up.  Found some Basic Grey chippies and a sentiment that worked perfectly for the season and the passing years.  

I coloured some card with Mustard Seed, Tea Dye, Spiced Marmalade and Festive Berries distress inks.  I embossed the card with Sizzix Leaves embossing folder and cut out my tag using Sizzix Ornate Labels #3.  

The embossed leaves weren't very clear so I inked them with the Mustard Seed DI.  I die cut Memory Box Tree of Wonder from an orange metal sheet.  The alpha stickers and chippy sentiment are both by Basic Grey.  Some funky wool and my tongue in cheek tag is ready to wow the birthday boy.

Eye Of Newt Runs In The Family

Hello.  Welcome.  Decided to have another play with Taylored Expressions Birthday sketch.  Did a little halloween birthday combo and made a Happy Booday card for a friend who has a birthday next month.  Bwahahahahaa

I flipped the sketch this time and I've altered the proportions a bit as well.  Isn't that the cutest little witch?!!

I started by making this panel using an orange base.  I cut Taylored Expressions Spider Web Cutting Plate and 13 Dead End Drive from black card.  I paper pieced the 13 Dead End Drive die and glued it all together.  Love 13 Dead End Drive and what a bootastic name!!  Just saying......  Then I attached the panel to a black base card. 

I stamped Taylored Expressions Moka Tabitha with archival ink and did a bit of fussy cutting of her hat, feet and broom before die cutting using a Sizzix circle die.   I coloured her with distress inks and ink joy pens.  Then I edged the circle with wilted violet distress ink and covered the white space with glitter glue.  I added some of the pieces cut out of the spider web to each side of the circle and added some bats cut using a sizzix die.  I used part of the sentiment that comes with Tabitha, stamping and embossing with white powder.  After searching for dies to make my Booday word I decided to write it myself using a white gel pen.

Into The Future in a Pink Cadillac

Hello.  Welcome.  Taylored Expressions are celebrating their 9th anniversary with a fun sketch challenge.  I decided this was a great opotunity to make a wedding card for my pink loving friend.  

Isn't that just such a cute image!!!  I used Taylored Expressions Lifetime of Love set 4 for the happy couple in the car and the sentiment.  

Just wanted to share this gorgeous die cut, which got mostly covered up as my card came together.  This is Taylored Expressions Southwest Cutting plate, cut from silver glitter card and mounted on a pink card base. 

I used Taylored Expressions Tag Stacklet 1 set to cut a tag from white card and music printed vellum.   I stamped one of the sentiments from the Lifetime of Love set on the white tag so it shows through a gap in the printed vellum.  The main image was stamped and cut out using a Sizzix circle die.  I coloured with distress inks and added some glitter tape to the tag top and sides of the circle panel.  I also cut some tiny hearts from the glitter tape and scattered them down the side of the card.  

This was such a fun card to make.  I am sure I will be using this sketch again and I'm all set when the wedding comes around in the spring.
