Hello. Welcome. This week I am Growing in Unity. I am sharing a project every day featuring Unity Stamp Company stamps. I would like to thank you for your lovely comments yesterday. Please keep visiting and commenting because Unity have given me two grab bags of 25 stamps to give away. I will be choosing my two winners next week. You can find my Day 1 post HERE.
I have decided to call this a canvas, although my canvas is actually a piece of DCWV patterned paper. I had no plan starting this, except that I wanted to use this gorgeous Anastasia stamp, so I hope I inspire you today to just grab some stamps and make something.
I have made this as a gift for a young lady who will soon be confirmed. Nearly every 15 year old in Norway gets confirmed. For the main image I used Anastasia (Believes) and in the background stamps from Let Adventure. I took a couple of process photo's so I'll try and explain how I got to this. It was a bit of an adventure........
I started with a 8" x 8" piece of patterned paper from DCWV. I stamped Anastasia on a piece of white paper, fussy cut her and used this as a mask. Then I stamped the mixed media Let Adventure stamps using London Fog Memento ink and grey Archival ink. I added some iridescent glitter glue to the wings of the butterfly and some Brushed Corduroy stickles to the two long mixed media stamps. And I really didn't like the stickles!!!
So I had a think about what I might have in my stash to fix my stickles problem and remembered that I had some Bedazzles. Tiny blingy stuff. So I added some glossy accents and some Disco Ball bedazzles to the stickles. I liked that. I decided to add some Electric Slide bedazzles to the butterfly. Then I used a wide flat brush and black acrylic paint and made the border.
I removed the white paper mask. I stamped and embossed the Anastasia image on vellum and fussy cut her. I coloured on the backside with distress inks. Totally inappropriate medium to use on vellum, but I like the translucent effect. I added some copper metal feathers from Korthobby.no to her hair and a bit of blue galaxy marker to her eyes.
Thanks for dropping by. Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win one of two Unity grab bags. And if you want to increase your chances you can hop over to Lisa's blog. She is also GIU this week and also has two grab bags to give away. Good luck. Hugz

That's quite a process you went through! It came out great! I love how you re-thought the stickles idea and came up with something you liked better rather than starting over again.
She is so cute! I love your detail. I need to work on my coloring. Thanks for sharing!
Anastasia is a beautiful image Gail and a lovely card for the young lady, many thanks for joining our April challenge at Stamping Sensations.

Absolutely stunning!! Love the outcome and the creative process. I might need to get that stamp she is beautiful stamped.
Thanks for sharing your process. I always wonder how people put together mixed media pieces! I'm sure the recipient will cherish this piece of art.
Thanks for sharing the steps you used to achieve that beautiful creation.
It has an Andy Warhol feel to me....great job and great details of the process-thanx for sharing
I was right yesterday. You are going to be fascinating to watch this week. This piece of art is beyond cool. I absolutely adore it. Well done!
No pressure then!! I hope you won't be disappointed if it's all downhill from tomorrow bwahahahahahaha. Hugz
What a beautiful mixed media piece! I love the effect of the distress ink on the vellum and her blue eyes are stunning! Thanks for sharing your process. I can't count how many times I've added stickles to something and then sat back and asked "Why did I do that?" LOL. I like the effect with the Bedazzles.
You project is beautiful.
Great job on this canvas, it's beautiful! My grandmas family is from Norway, do you currently live there? I visited in 2015, it was beautiful, I wish I could have spent more time.
Wow! Love that you didn't just give up and start over. I'll have to remember to just keep trying things.
I really love this! It looks more like a painting than a stamp!
This is such a fun piece! Thanks so much for the photo tutorial. I really enjoyed reading your process. I usually stamp then mask, I was fascinated that you masked and then stamped. I will have to try that. You made me smile at, "Totally inappropriate medium to use on vellum" and that you didn't like your stickles but wow! It all worked out beautifully!!!
Thanks for the step by step! Very cool.
Whoa!! Gail this is fantastic! You're so creative! I love how you showed this project in different stages of creation. Beautiful!
This has such a cool look to it!

Nice art piece.
Wow - amazing. Love how it all worked together.
Very pretty!
Hi Merika, yes I am lucky enough to be living in Norway. Views of mountains and fjords from the house. Paradise on earth. Hugz
That's the spirit. Just keep chucking things at it and remember, at the end of the day, there's always gesso LOL. Hugz
Incredible art piece. Thank you for sharing the process. It's so good to hear that someone else reviews a decision and knows it doesn't work but doesn't just toss it away. I love how you bedazzled the stickles! Awesome!
Interesting card. I have decided that masking is a favorite technique and now I save the masks with the stamp sets to reuse. Thanks for the inspiration.
This is really pretty. Love all the sparkle and those feathers!
Pretty and sweet. Congratulations to your 15 year old friend!
A wonderful creation - lucky friend who receives it! Shabneez x
