Jingle and Shimmer

Hello.  Welcome.   It's an exciting day!!  Clare had a place open up on the Colourcraft Design Team and she asked me if I would like to take it.  Well, what's a girl to say except yes, yes, yes!!!   It's my first post as part of the DT today over on the Colourcraft blog so do hop over and leave me a lot of love LOL.   To kick off my tenure I made a couple of tags using the beautiful shimmery Aztec paints.   

The picture really doesn't do justice to these amazing paints.  The colours are bright and so shimmery.  Tags cut with Gummiapan Large Old Tag die and snowflakes with Sizzix Snowflake 2.

Snowman Shaker Card

Hello.  Welcome.   I must admit that shakers were always a challenge for me.  Then last year I had a bit of a Eureka! moment.  I haven't made a shaker for a while but today I am a guest designing over at the Doodles Paper Playground.   This is the home of Sparkle Blends and I have been playing with their beautiful sequin mixes and made a Snowman shaker card using Marianne Designs papers and dies.  

  

I used the new limited edition Icicle Sparkle Blend for my shaker and a few sequins from other blends for the hearts and star.  Do hop over to the Doodles Paper Playground for more details and extra sparkly photos.

Hello.  Welcome.  Sharing a QACAS card for Christmas, cos quick at Christmas is great.  

I folded a piece of Taylored Expressions Cookie Monster cardstock and cut it with Stamplorations Stitched Rectangle die.  I cut Poppystamps Shasta Oval Frame from white irridescent glitter paper and stamped the deer from Poppystamps Christmas Friends set, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  The sentiment is from Rubber Dance stamps.  It is a Norwegian greeting which translates as with wishes for a lovely Christmas.

Mini Me Santa

Hello.  Welcome.  Paperartsy have a matchbox art challenge that I have been thinking about.  Then Etsuko made some stunning art using shrink plastic, and an idea I have been playing with came into focus.

There we go!!  Serviettes, candle and matchbox in a bag.

Let's talk a bit more about the matchbox.  

It took a bit of finding but I finally got hold of this chunky matchbox.  I put the ruler there and then covered it up with my watermark LOL.  These boxes are 7 x 5 x 2.5cm and are a lovely size to work with.  The matches are also a bit longer than usual so finger friendly!!

I cut a piece of designer paper 14.5 x 7cm.  I used a snowflake and a sentiment stamp from Rubber Dance and embossed with Wow gold embossing powder.  The Norwegian sentiment reads 'with wishes for a lovely christmas'.  I also used an embossing pen to add some lines, squiggles and edging and also embossed in gold.

Cover the two large sizes of your matchbox with double sided tape and stick on your decorated paper and voila!!  If you got the embossing in the right place hopefully it looks like a little book.   The size of paper allows a little overlap on the striker side and a curve on the spine side with the 'title'.  And then there's that santa shrinky dinky........

I cut my white shrink plastic with Sizzix Ornament 2 die and stamped Kreativ Henders Santa.  I coloured with distress ink and after shrinking added some silver pilot marker to the top.  Then I hung it off a bit of red and gold twine.  

I've used the same santa image on the candle using tissue paper to transfer the image.  You can see how much it shrank and how lovely the details remain.  I put them in a bag with some santa patterned serviettes and used more of the red and gold twine with a couple of square wooden beads for a little festive paafff!!   Thinking this will be a perfect hostess gift for a pre-Christmas party we have been invited to.

Santa Snacks

Hello.  Welcome.  It's tag time.  And christmas of course.

I cut Stamplorations medium Luggage Tag and stamped with various stamps from The Cat's Pyjamas Polar Christmas set.  I coloured the cup and snacks plate with Promarkers and then gae it a blue watercolour wash with ombre effect and lots of Irridescent Watercolour medium for a lovely shimmery effect.  A bit of bobbly wool to finish.

Iced Tea

Hello.  Welcome.  Wheeeeeeeeee!!  

Penguins sledging in a tea cup!  But of course!!!

I used a blue base card.  I cut silver glitter card with Stamplorations Stitched Winter Landscape and added some colour with Promarkers.  I cut white card with Stamplorations Stitched Snowy Hills dies.  Then I stamped The Cats Pyjamas Ship Happens, coloured with Promarkers, fussy cut and added it to the snowy hill.  The God Jul (Happy Christmas) is a Rubber Dance stamp.

The Most Moosetastic Time of the Year

Hello.  Welcome.  CAS and punny and a very cool moose make for a fun and festive creation.  

I was one of Joy Clair's lucky WCMD winners and this is the set I chose.  It's called Merry Christmoose.  That moose is just to kooky!!  Love it.  Thanks Joy Clair.  I stamped and embossed the moose and the sentiment on a silver card base.  I masked the moose and stamped the tree.  I coloured the moose with Promarkers and a white gel pen and added a little glitter on his antlers.
